At the end I wonder who is buying from scalpers? Lazy gamers and walthy miners? Lazy... wealthy... how about desperate? Scalpers usually prey on desperate customers, outside of just the realm of GPUs.

You've waited this long, just wait a little while longer and see how the launch of the 3080ti goes... I've been hunt for a 3080 for a long time and I refuse to give into scalpers so I'm hoping for the 3080ti launch to give me a decent shot at a new card

My guess is mostly small time miners. You might be able to make roughly $2000 in profit (after electric costs) with a 3060Ti annually (per current estimate from Nicehash). Easy to make the rational choice to buy a scalped one for $1500 or so since you can expect to break even eventually. If the mining nerf holds this time then it might stop making economic sense to buy GPU's for mining, at least at the current inflated scapler prices. I bet GPU prices and/or supplies become a lot better once Nvidia starts shipping nerfed versions for all their models and I dearly hope more than a few scalpers/miners get hosed when that happens. I'm sure Nvidia are hoping the nerf holds because they can then sell more of their CMX cards for what are probably much better profit margins then they're getting for 30 series.

When was the last time someone actually got a 10G-P5-3895-KR (3080 FTW3 Gaming) notify? I know what the sheet says but I don't see it here. The other spreadsheets seem to make it look like they aren't shipping that one at all. Only the FTW3 Ultra.

I'm guessing there's a shipment of EVGA's cards sitting on a ship waiting outside of Long Beach based on the minimal queue movement this week.
I believe multiple users here have confirmed that EVGA gets their shipments by air not sea freight.

Has enewt posted the queue summary yet? If he hasn’t, can someone tell me if there have been any reported 3897 drops today? I’m hoping that Tuesday repeats itself and we get some good movement today

If I had to guess based on how I feel, it’s probably hope about the queue and getting in early. Maybe not, but that’s why I’m (sorta) optimistic about the 3080ti.

For me it's having access to the EVGA queue system. EDIT: nearest microcenter to me is a 5 1/2 hour drive so local B&M retail isn't an option for me.

Not long ago. This was the least popular sku at launch so do not expect to see a lot of movement reports here. It went a long time without a report here before hitting 9/21.

Well, I'd love for you to be right, but I expect you're not. Also, I'd love to have a card by June. I'm 47 days away on the 3897, and I expect it'll be a good bit longer.

This is true. Even having 3 systems trying to get a 3060 it took me 25 min on one SKU and 33 on the other. The 3080Ti will be worse no doubt. But hey LTT will get a few hundred at least.

They really should have time gated the elite requirements during a product launch. Or remove the post qualifier. Now we have an elite spam magnet operating at 110%.
I clicked on a user earlier that registered today and was able to refresh and watch their post count increase rapidly.

I’m 9/22 10:56 AM, so I hope I get it by then if the 3080ti queue fails. Although it seems more like the queue is in a permanent limbo right now, which is more than disappointing - to be less than 24 hours away for several weeks now.

Agreed... even though I'm working towards elite as well, I've been a member since 2012. They should have made it so you needed at least 3 months since account creation and maybe change it to thread count rather than post count. Even if that would make it harder for me personally to hit elite, I think that would have been fair. Other option is to kill off any posts in the 3 word, 4 word, etc threads from counting towards the post requirements
