At the end I wonder who is buying from scalpers?
Lazy gamers and wealthy miners?

My guess is mostly small time miners. You might be able to make roughly $2000 in profit (after electric costs) with a 3060Ti annually (per current estimate from Nicehash). Easy to make the rational choice to buy a scalped one for $1500 or so since you can expect to break even eventually. 
 
If the mining nerf holds this time then it might stop making economic sense to buy GPU's for mining, at least at the current inflated scapler prices. I bet GPU prices and/or supplies become a lot better once Nvidia starts shipping nerfed versions for all their models and I dearly hope more than a few scalpers/miners get hosed when that happens.
 
I'm sure Nvidia are hoping the nerf holds because they can then sell more of their CMX cards for what are probably much better profit margins then they're getting for 30 series.

this is correct. got a 3080 FTW3 on Wednesday. still hasn't shipped though seems odd.
 

You should call them if it doesn't show shipping the same day or next day 100% - this happened to me on my Kingpin shipping, turned out the label got torn off of my package when it was being taken from eVGA to the UPS sorting point.  I spoke to an eVGA higher up rep who said when that happens, UPS returns the package to eVGA & the order is normally cancelled because of it - worked it out so they sent the card back out to me instead of making me wait on a refund process to re-order.  So I would definitely contact them ASAP - since it's the weekend now, that'll be Monday.

thanks i might do that. since i got a tracking number on my order history yesterday. but today they added a second number and now i got the email from UPS also. also my order shows completed on my order history. but i might still call them just to double check.

That's exactly what happened to mine, and I never got any motion on the tracking number for 2 days, then the weekend came, I called them the Monday following & found all that information out, then the higher up eVGA rep called me back & we got it all sorted so they could send me the card again.  Hopefully yours gets worked out quicker or is actually in the process of being shipped & what not.  Good luck!

Honestly, I’d pay a premium for a gpu. Like 1300 for a 3080. That’s almost double msrp. Somehow we’re at a point where 2100 for a gpu is still BELOW market price.

I woulda thought that if TSMC/Samsung are working 24/7 making wafers, then AIB's would also be working 24/7 producing/dropping cards. Or at least have another shift until this shortage debacle has passed? Who knows.........

Although no one wins the shuffle anymore.  There must be 50 bots for every legit entry to the shuffle.

YEP, I agree!!! Today was the first day I officially gave up on the shuffle. 31 losses in a row lol.

I applied to a bunch of other EVGA cards around 2/13/21 (I had no clue about a shortage was this bad). In all honestly I will keep the notifications on to give updated info here on this thread when selected(let some one else have a card I only want one ).
 
In the meantime, I am enjoying MODS RIGS posts and getting great ideas from others while I wait.

there are allot of changes to mining happening soon.  EIP 1559, could reduce mining profits from 20-50%, and ETH 2.0 Merge by end of 2021.  which makes paying 3x msrp hard to break even on any new cards, plus miners dont want to be "LAST MAN HOLDING the SHOLVES"  allot of folks will start to sell used cards before the end, just to recoup 2x, 3x MSRP.  
 
I'm just saying.  I can see some light at the end of the tunnel.  maybe things will be better come end of june.

Gratz! That was one of the expensive combos, right?  My guess is that if you want to spend a couple thousand, your competition is smaller.  If you want the inexpensive bundles, you compete with the million other people who pick that one.
