coldrain85I have been wanting the 3080ti all along, but I'm not going to cancel my auto-notify for a 3898 until the specs for the TI are made public. Hopefully it's not a 12G version of a 3080 that's 5% faster. That would be disappointing, at least imo. It is better to be 12G rather previously rumored 20G. There only two sized of memory chip exist: 1GB and 2GB. Data width for this chip is 32 bit. 12G can be done by six 2GB chip and data bus width 192 bits( they done it for RTX 3060) or by twelve 1GB chips and data bus width 384 bits( same bus width as RTX 3090). For 20G data bus width should be 320 bit. If all latest rumors correct( 12G, 384 bits memory bus, 10240 CUDA cores), RTX 3080 Ti much closer to RTX 3090 rather than RTX 3080. But from price standpoint RTX 3080 Ti closer to RTX 3080 rather than RTX 3090.

Best Buy just had a drop, including some EVGA models. Anyone have any luck? Also, I think someone said a few pages back that it helps to set "your store" to a nearby more populated area. Any truth to that? I got as far as picking a store location to send it too, but it was gone by the time I got that set up. Edit: Sorry this is a bit off topic, but we're all here trying to get these cards one way or another.

also, I hope for 2 things if I can’t get a 3080: elite and for the servers to not crash at launch. How long after the queue announcement did it take for people who signed up on launch day to get a card?

If you're right then I will go with the TI. I get the 12G vs. 20G issue. I just want to see some performance data and how it compares with the 3080 and 3090. If the 3080TI does end up being closer to a 3090, I don't see the price being $999. I don't think EVGA wants to undercut the 3090 too much by making a card that is almost as good for $600-800 less.

That's a tough question to answer since things have changed between September and now. I was a little late on launch day for the 3897. I got a time stamp at about 8:30PM on 9/17 which translated to an auto-notify email at the end of November. Cards seemed to be moving faster at that time than they are now though. The 3898, on the other hand, has been crawling since it launched late last year. It has only advanced about 3.5 minutes since the 12/16 launch. That's 3.5 minutes in 4.5 months. So, it depends on the SKU. Some move. Some crawl. A few haven't budged.

From what I've gathered, BB drops are regional. So each area gets X amount of cards, so once an an area sells out no one there can buy, even if cards are available in the next area. Seen lots of people run into this. If BB dropped this many cards in Canada there'd be enough for every gamer up here and I'd cry tears of maple syrup.

Usually, HC and hybrid cards come a bit after the air-cooled cards. This could be an odd exception given that the PCB may be the same as other SKUs with different memory (and some other odds and ends). It is possible some of the other blocks/shrouds, etc. fit. So, there's a chance it launches at the same time. Will they green-light it from the go? Who knows. We don't even technically know that EVGA will do a 3080ti...at all...let alone how many SKUs of it will exist.

since the 30 series released no cards have made it to my local store. I am not sure which is worse if that is true or if the workers there are buying them and then selling them off

It seems like you have to be a bot to get a card through BB. I know of one individual who got a EVGA 3090 through BB. He got lucky and was there looking for a 3080 when they dropped. He couldn't get a 3080 in time before they sold out, but he noticed that the 3090's were still available so he ended up getting one even though it's not what he wanted. Apparently, 3090's are sometimes available for a few minutes before they sell out. Not so with the others.

It’s sad that it is dang near in possibility to get a 3000x card through BB, Amazon, NewEgg, etc without using a bot. I think EVGA is the only guaranteed way of receiving one without a hassle if you play your cards right.

coldrain85 It seems like you have to be a bot to get a card through BB.
Probably because they cost significantly more and the miners don't like them because of MH per kWh. 3080s are better profit per kWh. I just want a 3080 FTW. I have been waiting since 9/25/2020.... Insane.

I've gotten a few cards from BB with no bot or anything. Their counter-measures such as verification and staggered drops is probably the best out there right now. It still requires a bit of luck but its more than doable nowadays. The only bad part is the "No store in 250 miles" thing. EDIT - B-stock sale potentially happening soon. 1070 Tis and 1080s were dropped.

Currently they are at 9/21/2020... sadly to say you still got a long wait.

aliop1 also, I hope for 2 things if I can’t get a 3080: elite and for the servers to not crash at launch. How long after the queue announcement did it take for people who signed up on launch day to get a card?
I had reports of people who signed up on September 16th or late on September 17th who were receiving notifies for the 3080 and 3090 FTW3 Ultra already early in the morning on October 6th.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the community spreadsheet ☺️. I hope you all get your card soon! If you found the spreadsheet useful, please consider using my associate code for your next purchase:

Seems there is hope after all! Just gotta get elite, and then maybe my situation won’t be so bleak.

Nobody knows 100% but I've heard 999 for FE with AIB cards in the 1100-1200 range

I was able to luck out for my 5900X from them forever ago, but I never had any luck getting a 3080 or 3090, despite trying many many times. Even with fast internet and a couple of browsers or two different computers trying. I still hear of the odd person here and there on the forums that is able to get one just about every drop. I was content for any 30 series for a while, but I have my heart set on a 3090 now. It's this much work and takes this much time to get the card that I might as well get the best on available. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the 3060 I got on here, and it is being used, not resold, but I will be able to put that 24GB of VRAM to work doing video and photo editing and of course occasional gaming. The 3080 would be good, but I still want the 3090 even more, since it's taking so long for these queues to be fulfilled.
