Do you think that's hardware related like CPUs running high clocks?  Or can this be overcome by VCCIO voltage.  I'm curious to know what VCCIO voltage you had to use to get 3000....Or what voltage I should shoot for.   I think it being 4 dimms is the problem.  I'm looking at getting replacements but if you say on some hardware it's just not possible, then there ya go.

I missed the 4 DIMM part.  I had 4 DIMM's up to 2666 and in windows but it was not stable, VCCIO and VCCSA were around 1.25 or so, give or take .05MV

I really didn't spend much time trying to get it stable either, I was working more on the core speed.

My Z77 FTW arrives today, this one is going in the 24/7 gaming rig, would love to have one of these for the bench table aslo.

Going to start with 4x2GB G.Skill RipjawsX 2133MHz 7-10-7-28

I'll probably also test out my 4x2GB Corsair GTX8's 2400MHz 10-12-10-30

Lastly I'm looking at a set of 2x8GB G.Skill TridentX 2400MHz 10-12-12 for the longer term

I'm having difficulty with overclocking my I5 2500k on this board. I'm following Jacobs steps (ALL OF THEM), i'm setting multiplier x46 *100Mhz =4600GHZ, but my bios changing that to 3700 or 3400 and in windows in ELEEt showing 3400Ghz and multiplier x34  . On My old Mobo P67 SLI I had no problem with setting x48 , with minor vcore tweak. AND another problem after I flash to that new beta bios 1.04 , Debug LED showing my temps 20 degree higher then eleet in windows or real temp or core temp . Before flash was same temps.
I also did what Sajin did to fix multiplier issue but did'nt help in my case.
Anyone can help please?
thank you

I figured that this is energy saver thing but how to turn off , i don't need it . i try to disable EIST but that didn't help either.

Idle on Real Temp and Eleet my temps are: 34C -35C Debug Led showing 48C
Stress temps are: 43 C in eleet and real temp and 59 C on debug led.
Sorry it took me so long to answer  but I can yet answer from my mobile phone :( and I was at work.

I don't see an "Internal PLL Voltage Override" option in my BIOS. Version 1.04, can anybody explain why this might be?

Sajin

Fixed the multiplier dropping issue. What I did was...

From the Overclocking tab in BIOS, navigate to CPU Configuration, then navigate to CPU Power Management Configuration and set:

IA Core Current Max(1/8 AMP): 2040
Power Limit 1 Value(1/8 WATT): 2040
Power Limit 2 Value(1/8 WATT): 2040
Long Duration Power Limit: 255
Long Duration Maintained: 120
Short Duration Power Limit: 255

Holds a steady x47 now.

I cant get mine to stop changing from 48x down to 16x...
on my gigabyte board i have to disable EIST to stop it from doing ratio changes in the OS but on this board if i disable EIST it will not let me overclock the multiplier at all..
EIST enabled: can overclock multi, but changes ratio from the current OC multi back down to 16x when not loaded (i.e. changes from 48x back down to 16x)
EIST disable: no ratio change in the OS, but changing the multi does nothing (i.e. 35x ratio stays constant in OS, regardless of what multi i choose in BIOS)

It's working now for me. All I did is switch to bios #2 on mobo , didn't flash to the newest beta bios , and follow again all Jacob steps ( didn't do all same time but I changed  few save&reset and  go back to bios changed rest)
Eleet showing 4400 mhz (my multiplier is 44) and not changing down anymore.
But still got problem with debug led showing cpu temp around 15C more then core temp or Eleet.

Would you guys recommend using a Corsair H100? or a custom built H20 System with 360 Rad, Swiftech apogee Xt, pump and res. Cooling only CPU..
Thanks

with H100 & 3770K you may be able to go up to 4.6GHz, but anything over that and you need a custom H2O loop or at least an XSPC kit with RX240 or RX360 rad.

I got my z77 FTW yesterday, yay! I'm using BIOS 1.07 beta and notice under the power settings. The CPU Voltage (1/256), Long duration power limit & Short duration power limit I'm not able to set them to 0? When I choose 0 it defaults to Auto.

What about offset vcore?
Still not included? :(
Sorry EVGA - all competitors be able to handle powersaving-features on overclocked settings, have a lot of vdroop levels (LLC)  and .. they have the offset vcore (ASUS, ASROCK, GIGABYTE).
I don't like 4.6 in idle, i don't like 1.6 GHz in idle with 1.26v. I like 1.6 GHz in idle with 0,9v and 4.6 GHz with 1.26v.
You've still the beautiest boards, but the BIOS is not that what I expect from EVGA. Since the P55 chip you make the same mistakes.. :(

EDIT: the temp-LED is always correct ... on my EVGA boards.. there is no problem..

For sure, can someone explain as of why they can't or wont? My temp-LED is always correct also.

Im stable @ 4.6 and 1.300v (2700k) using 1.04 bios. But I'm still having the multiplier issue. When i run prime or ibt it down clocks the multiplier to 40 or 42. If I run 3dmarks11 physics test only it looks to be normal (~9.2k p score for physics). I used this oc guide the another one linked from these forums. A little research on the web and I found that speed spectrum does this and I need to turn it off. I can't find the option in the  bios. Its a little discouraging that oc'ing is a lot more difficult than my old Maximus IV Extreme.

go to Overclocking / CPU settings and change 3 options under CPU Power Settings (watt and amp power limits) to 2040 as per this thread, you can leave the rest as they are unless you have an SSD drive then disable all 3 C-states as well (they impact write speeds):

Got it fixed for now by disabling pll over-voltage. Pll over-voltage was a real pain with my old Asus P67 boards and no one had a fix other than leaving this off. Most i could muster with basic oc'ing was 4.9 on a 2600k. My old p67 ftw did get that cpu to 5.0 and pll over-voltage enabled. Its working now so I hope they find a fix for this issue. I'll try pushing further to see how it copes without pll over-voltage.

Quick question, what temps should we actually pay attention to. Seen a few people saying core temps is what matters most. I was running 4.0@ 1.25v yesterday and as soon as I started prime95 the debug temp went from 42 to 72 instantly, and once I stopped it the temp dropped to 44 instantly. I know the core temps were reading a lot lower (don't recall all of them exactly_ but the "package" temp read about 63c.

Thanks for sharing the information, something I may try upon completion of my build when I install my recently purchased brand spanking new still in its box EVGA Z77... however, I'm curious of your photo... I see you have a SATA cable plugged into the 4/5 SATA II port... I have a question, is that your operating systems HDD and did you opt to use that port instead of the primary 0/1 SATA III ports?
I have 4x Hitachi 4TB SATA III HDD's and I'd like to keep the 4x SATA III motherboard ports free for the drives as storage devises if possible. I'm planning to use my WD 150GB SATA II VelociRaptor for my Windows OS and also install a LG BH14NS40 3D Blu-Ray ReWriter.
Wondering if its doable to install the OS on a drive regardless of what SATA port its plugged into without running into issues.

Cheers

you most likely won't be able to install OS from a CD or onto HDD connected to one of Marvel SATA III ports (1st row of red ones on top) and Windows installer doesn't know divers for it.

you can use any other port (black or red) as all the rest is connected to Intel PCH (Z77) and so will run normally without drivers.
