The Dark looks really nice. Have 2 questions before I pull the trigger though:
1. Does it have built in stress testing tool same as the X299 Dark?
2. What are its dimensions? Planning to use it in a NZXT H700i and it only supports 272mm width max.

Forgive me if this was posted and it was missed, but is there an estimated release date for the Dark?

Thx

Did Agent Tiny Tim forget to solder on the second BIOS on the Dark board?
Look closely, there's a BIOS selector switch next to the BIOS socket.  Underneath it is an empty area labeled "BIOS"

Don't know who is Agent, but I did not forget to solder not two but three BIOS chips on Z390 DARK.
They are completely independent chips with HW switch. BIOS1 is socketed for possible user replacement, while BIOS2 and BIOS3 are soldered on.
"BIOS in square" silkscreen on PCB is just for factory label :)

Working currently on OC Guide for it ;)

Are you going to post an extreme overclocking guide here or at KPC forum?

Did I already miss an ordering window for the Z390 FTW?  Considering other vendors have boards already available, when will the FTW board be released?  I'm coming back to EVGA for this build and have never used one of their boards, is this normal for their release to lag behind?

You have not missed anything, they did say the FTW would come first. So maybe not too much longer.
I myself am waiting on the Dark.

Not trying to hate because these look like premium boards but are EATX and ATX for that matter, even a thing anymore?  I can't think of a single household in my circles with an ATX board or accompanying server sized case in it.

Are there any plans for z390 in mATX or ITX?

CPU: Intel 4790K COOLER: EVGA 92mm MOBO: EVGA Z97 Stinger RAM: Corsair Dominator 16GB
GPU: EVGA 780 ti SSD: Samsung 850 Pro HDD: WD Red 2TB CASE: EVGA Hadron Air

You must not have any Computer Enthusiast within your Circles
EVGA is a Company for the Computer Enthusiast
The mATX will come latter, but EVGA is not into ITX.

First off...when am I going to be able to purchase the DARK board?  Seriously, I keep refreshing the EVGA Store page.

Secondly, I'm planning on using a Noctua D15 - will I run into issues on this board due to the differently-oriented socket?

Coming Soon!
A Good Question to also ask Noctua as well.
It looks like you will be fine with one, 360° View

Yeah same here, I believe it was stated the FTW would come first though.
I am holding out for the Dark.

Yeah, but I was most concerned with the different orientation perhaps obstructing the top PCIe slot.  If I can't orient it to blow out the rear, it'd make more sense to vent it vertically.

Or, I could just keep my Air 540 and vent it downward with the aid of twin 140mm intakes.  Or am I overthinking this and even with the transverse socket, should I still be able to orient the fan to blow towards the case back?  I want to avoid using an AIO, too - I far prefer it when a fan fails over a pump failing. >.>

I've been looking at the step-up program.  It's my understanding that if I can pick up a Z370 with bios flashed for the 9-series, I could use that temporarily and step up to the Z390 when it is available by just paying the difference?

The z390 Dark looks nice. I am looking forward to the benchmarks to see what performance boosts we will see over the z370/8700k. So much new gear out. Not good for the wallet

The Z370 are on sale ATM so might not be a bad Idea. I would think that the FTW would be available within the 90 days.
I would get the Classified Model and the start the Step-up after you register it before the 14th day and even get the extended Warranty as it will carrying over to your new Z390 MB.
I have a X99 FTW K MB but the new Z390 MB are not listed for this MB only MB listed is the X99 Classified MB.
But in all I want to wait for a New Motherboard with PCIe 4.0 Slots. They are way past due.

I know I'm nitpicking here but the yellow capacitors stick out like a sore thumb. Other than that they look like nice boards.

I'm just assuming it's going to be $299, simply because the FTW is $229, and I can't see them charging more than the X299 DARK, since Intel charged more for the X299 chipset than any other chipset hence.

That being said, the inclusion of the ~Creative~ sound chip could make it $329 because of licensing costs. vOv

Question on the 390 dark series, will the external antenna interfere with the door on the DG-87 that is in proximity to the I/o panel?

Hi,

for my own knowledge, I tried to do a summary of the changes between the Z390 FTW and the Z370 FTW (hardware + bios + other features)

Correct me if I am wrong, the Z390 FTW gains against the Z370 FTW:
  • 4x USB 2.0
  • 2 more phases to power the CPU (the 2 to power the IGP since there isn't video outputs on the motherboard)
  • Nu audio
  • 2x RGB header
  • SPI flashing via USB
  • 5x USB 3.1 gen2
  • BIOS with OC Robot and stress test
  • BIOS: vdroop fixed?

But "loses":
  • 6x USB 3.1 gen1
  • switchable dual bios
  • video outputs (HDMI 1.4 + DP1.2)

And PCI-express ports are "rearranged" (from 3*16 to 2*16 + 1*4 + 2*1).

Right? Did I miss something?
