Welcome to the forums! I will take care of you.

Im thinking of trying a copper topped option. Would anyone be interested, or just Delrin?

I will Take the Delrin if it looks like the acetal...Nate You should incorporate your programming to allow you to machine it to have a really Kool N_D embossed look so maybe you might have to add the cost of an extra 1/16" of delrin and then add matching the evga Red on or maybe N_D Dark between the inlets...sucks i stopped machining in 2002, this might be a nice hobby to do here in canada..winters way too long! def. want one for my dark on order....so real time are we talking Mid Oct. to get one cause I will get on the list now are you taking deposits?and have you figured on a price yet?........

I actually want to try something unique. Since the board is called the DARK, i wanted to try a matte black copper. I have a special firearms coating material that I have used, and its SUPER durable, and mixed with black delrin top, black oxide screws, and black fittings.... it could look DEAD SEXY. But all black might not be for everyone. I will see what it looks like and take some pictures.

Sounds great, I just wanted to get mine nickle plated/black Delrin as it would match my CPU block.
Just keep in mind also that a mate black would be hard to keep finger marks off (not that it is a 'huge' issue,
just may be tricky to clean once it is installed).
Would look sexy though

Any possibility of you making 2 prototypes, one with matte black copper and one with the delrin top?  Just so we can get a better idea of what both would look like.

As long as we can get some accurate estimates of when to expect the block, I'm game.

I'm still holding out hope that EK might make mobo blocks for the board, but it seems like you will beat them to the punch if they ever go through with it.

A full black block is fine with me as well. Subtle would be the next best option if a clear (lexan/acrylic) top with nickel plating is too expensive (since I would be responsible for getting the plating done) or not possible at all.

Looking forward to your work nateman_doo.

The dark copper coating and the black derlin top sounds like a wondeful match with the DARK mobo.    Having something engraved on the top would be cool,  or having the top thick enough to make it easy to engrave would be a good runner up.

Derlin top...  That's pretty HARD-core

I should be able to give a deposit anytime if that helps (even if I cannot purchase till Oct.)

Thanks again Nate!

I can do anything, but the idea was to make it simple.  The more time i mess with the block, the more time it takes to make.  There isn't much room on the block, its pretty narrow.

I am working on vector art ATM but as I have no dimensions in regard to engrave-able area
on the block, you would need to resize it accordingly (and of course add your tooling path).
I will set it up in proportion to the block images you have posted.
Is a vector .eps file ok?

I noticed you are also in Aus, in that case if you do end up doing some engraving on this block, I might ask if we can't work something out and I'll get mine sent to you and engraved and then sent to me if that's something you might be willing to workout with me

No worries, sure we could work something out ;)
I would engrave it myself as I have access to a couple of computer engraving machines (old employer).
Similar to the CNC nateman uses but more suited to engraving than heavy machining.

OK, here are three different options:

For anyone interested the 'DARK' font is called Bitsumishi but the 'X79" is what appears to be custom text
(I had to make it from scratch).

Yeah, there would be about 20mm x 30mm engrave-able area, probably just enough to fit the
X79 DARK text but it would be small, need to wait till you have the screws on it to
measure the exact area available.

I already have mine, received it the other day, was a step up for my faulty X79 FTW.
I will be building my PC soon to test all is OK and plan to add full water cooling when I have everything.
