nateman_doo The first video was plastic over the block. Was that your "insurance policy" first? To see if the position was good? heh, smart ;)
Yeah, better safe than sorry, first trick I learnt when engraving odd shaped objects

Acesi7 Nice one Sneaky. Was good to watch the video. Just looking at the pictures above, it looks like there are some scratches on one of the Chipset blocks. In the middle of the large E on the right hand block. Is that just hair on the block? These look amazing mate, can't wait to get a hold of them.
Yeah unfortunately, one of them has slight scratches on it (was there when I unboxed them) but don't fret, I am going to put a fine hand linish on them so scratches and milling marks will be gone. Don't worry, it will look even better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linishing

resin is hardening right now, taking longer than expected, they now only have a casting resin which is a 2 to 1 ratio mixture as opposed to the old marine resin which had a more aggressive hardener that was 5 to 1. I'll post pics when finished later tonight.

The left over resin in the cup has already cured but the blocks I cannot get too hot so they are taking longer, maybe another hour? Yeah really lucked out with the red as it is the only red they have lol

OK, finally done. Everything that could have gone wrong did tonight ... one of those days I hope to forget. Good news and bad news, one of the Block sets came out great, the other not so great. Being a new Epoxy resin I had not used before I thought it wise to fill the blocks in batches so I at least had a 50/50 chance of getting one good batch, well I was right, got my mixtures right with one set but the other I put slightly to much hardener in and the finish came out blotchy. Not to worry though, I will keep that set as I can fill them again when i have time. Acesi7, you get the good set Here are your blocks, you will notice that the red on the small engraving on the Chipset block is darker, that is unavoidable, there is only so much red pigment I can mix with the epoxy and that engraving being so small, it is not very deep so the darkness is that you can see the black Delrin through the epoxy. I think it looks good though, makes the big E more prominent. The photo's don't really do them justice, they look much better when in front of you.

People are going to think that EVGA is making them. DEAD sexy. Did you lap the surface? Looks like it has a brushed/lapped texture. The delrin looks almost like black anodized aluminum that has a brushed finish. Good man to give the better one to Ace. I will be starting the current back around Tuesday. Here is what I have been up to for the past week: http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2125209 All the copper & delrin arrived, and it has been cut to size on the bandsaw. pics probably later today. Now I am taking my 2 princesses (and my beautiful Queen) to Medieval Times.

EVGATech_MattM Here is the blocks mounted. Doing some testing before mounting in the case and running the tubing but looks good so far. Took 5 SLI links to get the right height and to link them all together. I was about 2mm off height wise any way I cut it but I think it worked out good.
Looks great, can't wait to get mine in. Had a question on your setup Matt. Noticed a couple things when test fitting some stuff on my dark 1) Does your I/O cover touch your backplate and 2) Did your mounting hardware(specifically the bottom right screw) rub against the socket lever? I have an EK cpu block so might just be an issue with it.

- It does but it was not an issue when I was testing and powering up the board with the GPU on air and the backplate on it. I did not even notice at first when I was first fitting everything together. I could not say if other maker's blocks and backplates would have an issue however.
- The block is a Swiftech APOGEE HD and it clears the lever. I used the default backplate that came with the board. The block is gold instead of the standard black as this one is the Gold Plated Limited Edition version and it came out a few years ago however this is the first time I have used it.

Mid-20s across the board using a live boot of Ubuntu if I recall correctly however not stressed it yet. Probably will be in a weekend or two before I can get windows loaded and do a more comprehensive benchmarks and temp checks under load.

Nice blocks Nateman, I'm interested, just not this moment since I'm waiting for a check to come to Me, the time frame could be a month or so from now(or less, as I have no idea when It will come), is this too long a wait? (I live near Barstow California) I don't have an X79 Dark yet, but that will be taken care of in due time, blocks are harder to get so they come first, I'm also getting 1/2"ID 3/4"OD black hoses with appropriate black chrome/black sparkle fittings. And yes I have a paypal account. Oh and this would be for My 3rd PC, I crunch numbers for Seti@Home and so plain black is fine with Me since 5 570/580 cards will cover the block almost completely. Also how much is the pair of blocks?
