I'm not sure if the BIOS 80 has cause this but it has happened since I updated to the new bios: When I start my computer (cold boot) my monitor wont turn on. My computer turns on fine but my monitor will stay on stand by. I have to manually turn my monitor off and back on for it to display the desktop. Everything is my computer was the same as the past bios and this never happened before. Also I have all the latest drivers and everything. Its annoying having to turn off and on my monitor so I can get the display on. Jacob please let me know if the bios can cause this issue. Thank You

Thats really odd. Did you set first init display to pci-x? You didn't mess with anything else? That would drive me nuts.

JJVAL <SNIP> Like you I did a reflash but before i did i made sure I went to defaults in bios double checked that everything cleared and cleared cmos did a fresh Flash from Bios 78 to Bios 80 and everything is working SWEEET!!! And my main drive which is a Crucial SSD 256 Gig picked up some good performance in the AS SS Benchmark , before my best score was a 670 now im hitting 690s on a single SSD.. <SNIP> Nice score for a single drive! However, I do not believe the 20 point increase is indicative of any real performance gain from using the new BIOS. In fact, I sometimes see more deviation by merely running consecutive benchmarks as evidenced here: I ran the first, saved a screenshot, ran the second and saved a screenshot, within a two minute interval.

For the modders: Intel released a new RAID ROM 10.5.0.916. Here is a link to the file: http://dl.free.fr/nvhAM55X0 Note that the site is in French and you have to click on "Telecharger ce fichier" to download.

Intel doesn't release any change logs for their RAID ROMs, at least not to the public. My post was just meant to let those who are interested in modding the BIOS (and of course the guys at EVGA) know that there is now an even newer version available.

For me it repair the boot 2 times to have in the bios, the new rom ok, but this is not the priority for the next bios. Before proceeding further with the new rom, Evga must also correct the defects existed for a long time, other manufacturers have already done this why not Evga ?????? AHCI ROM and dual boot . The next rom 10.5.0.916 after

Unfortunately I only have one ssd and one hdd at the moment and cannot verify with a raid volume , but it should work (sidenote: the acceleration submenu is grayed out in this rom). This is good news for future updates ( as long as intel keeps the current structure of the rom that is), so good job evga!! A (final) bios fixing at least the greatest issues that are left (vt-d double post, cpu vcore not lowering when set to anything but auto etc) would be great as well!!

That is great news indeed! Thanks for testing At the same time it's odd, because if this non-customized, untouched Intel RAID ROM fits in our BIOS now, why was it necessary to customize the version in BIOS 80?

Very interesting indeed. I will need to try this as well... Edit: Well, it appears that the RAID ROM does indeed work "out of the box". The customizations must have been on the actual BIOS level then, not on the RAID ROM level, which is what we all expected in the first place ( this is indeed very good news ). Why we were told that the ROM was customized is beyond me then...but I do not think that I even care. Currently running 10.5.0.916. Acceleration options is disabled, as it should be on X58 since the feature is not supported on this chipset.

bostonbaab How do you go about installing this new Rom with 80 bios? I can do it for you if you want. I just need to know which board you are running (e.g., E759, E760, etc.) rafale Dejanh, Have you found anything new with this Raid rom? No, other than it seems to recognize the chipset better. It looks like it automatically disables the acceleration option in the BIOS which is nice as that feature is useless on X58. lcabezas Hopefully we can get the real Intel AHCI to replace to current one we have on the bios. Glad to hear the work was done on a bios level not just the raid rom. Thanks EVGA. Well...that ROM works, but it does not pass the drives back to the BIOS. To fully support it something has to be recoded in the BIOS itself. On topic, overall I am really happy that EVGA seems to have recorded the BIOS to properly support the new RAID option ROM as opposed to hacking the ROM itself. This is very good news in my opinion!
