Thank you for your work.  Which version board is this modified bios for? 132-BL-E758-A1?

It's not one BIOS, it is a ZIP of all modified BIOS for all EVGA X58 boards

What does this Rom help? Wouldn't want to go through an update not knowing why. I have a Raid0 of 3 SSD's. Would I benefit from this Rom and its features. If so, could you give a brief overview of what it enhances. Thanks in advance...

We don't know anything about it other than the fact that it's newer and it's straight from an Intel board. If you're not sure if you should update, you probably shouldn't. I personally love to run the very latest stuff, but then again I do not have anything critical on my PC.

Oh, and thanks dejanh for those mods!

Hey dejanh, You may want to actually edit your post and move the file over to a new thread like you had previously.

This way, people who are flashing to the new 80 bios that EVGA created posts feedback in here instead of mixing the two together. Your bios may correct some compatability issues/concerns that EVGA's does not.

This way EVGA doesn't get mixed results and feedback so they can modify their bios if they need based on feedback.

Thanks for the work again!

Seems pretty aimless to update not knowing what you are doing it for. Brick a board or two and you'll not follow the pack so closely.

This is a good idea.  I will do that later on in the day.  I don't have time now.

Why anyone would ever brick a board by doing a BIOS update is beyond me.  As long as you do not cross-flash (i.e., flash another different board BIOS on your board) you should be fine.  Worst case scenario you need to hot-flash from another good BIOS chip.  Not everyone knows how to do this or is comfortable doing it though, so I will give you that much.

Bricking a board to me is a non issue, worse case scenario would be to pick up another chip for about 10.00, you can actually hot swap and fix the old one too.  Actually, its not a bad idea to just have one on hand just in case.  They have the chips on eBay...the chip is nothing special.

Bricking is going to mainly be an issue if your power goes out during flashing or you happen to flash the incorrect bios to your board.  Knock on wood, but I've never bricked a board.  ...yet :-).

What dejanh has done is just updated to the newest Intel version, not changing the other coding.   I normally wouldn't trust just anyone creating this, based on what he's done in the past, what he's done is pretty basic and he's a trusted source not someone intentionally injecting a bios based virus.

edit...hahaha I was typing this message as dejanh was...he beat me to the punch though regarding my discussion.

I bricked my P8p67 board a few weeks ago and I thought I knew what I was doing. Hadn't bricked a board during a bios flash for 20 years since! All it took was doing a cmos reset before allowing the bios to reboot following a 'successful' flash. Turns out some bioses like to write to nvram after rebooting and if you clear cmos too early you bork the bios chip. I was lucky I had a spare bios chip from an rma I hadnt sent back yet! Moral off the story be very careful flashing your bios as it doesnt take much to screw up! Can happen to anybody when you least suspect it!

When it asks for a file name, just hit the [ENTER] key... usually starts the BIOS flash process right afterwards.

I have bricked a MB, but it was a long time ago during the Pentium II days.

I had an Abit board back in the days when they were hot OC boards. I flashed the BIOS all the time. One day, it just locked up. It let it sit for a while to see if it was just slow, but it was frozen. I hit reset and it was DOA. I called Abit and they sent me the chip and all was well. It's a horrible feeling though and I cringe whenever I flash a BIOS.

I appreciate that Jacob and EVGA came though with this 80 Beta, but personally, my beef was with the VT double pump, the Raid BIOS is just a bonus (for me).

I'm going to wait until that is put in, but since it hasn't even been mentioned, I'm doubtful we'll ever see it fixed.

It is pretty safe testing a new option rom, but not 100%. There is a worst case scenario where the rom will load, but hang, preventing you from going past it and into bios, or any bootable drive.

I was testing newer NVRAID option rom for my 790i Ultra, I found a slightly newer one that worked, but then tried a much newer one from their new AMD lineup since thats all their making chipsets for now. I figured it wouldn't work but I just wanted to know for sure, and it almost bricked it. It didn't load at first, so I hex'd the rom's device id and it loaded, but never went past the searching for drives phase, just had a blinking cursor. The chipset uses 1 rom for raid/ahci so even with a cmos reset it wouldn't go past it. That means no booting from any kind of boot disk, no bios, no nothing.

What saved it was the built in AWDFLASH in that boards bios, it loads and looks for a bios off the floppy before any of the option roms load. I tried it with a USB floppy but it failed, so I dug up a 15 year old floppy drive I still had and it worked. Was 5 min from ordering a pre flashed bios. Turns out you can use a USB floppy to flash from the built in AWDFLASH but you need to disable the normal floppy in bios, a non default option. And without being able to enter bios that was out.

While that's a rare case, if a new rom were to hang on loading instead of not working at all then it would be bricked, these boards do not have a built in bios flasher, and the bios chip is soldered on. If someone else edits the bios and tests it first then its pretty safe, but the person editing it and doing the inital test does incur some risk.

Anybody who is worried about damaging their bios, purchase a spare one from ebay or other source...~10.00 for piece of mind is worth it.  This would be especially important if your injecting a modified SLIC/SLP, altering other portions of the bios or just generally not feeling sure about updating to a newer EVGA bios.

Spending 10.00 on a spare is much better than disassembling a computer, shipping costs and the time spent shipping the motherboard back/forth to EVGA.

Btw, 80m installed and working fine.

Pretty sure the bios chip is user changable on these boards (not soldered on).

Yes, its easily replaceable.  This was an image from kmoore who so graciously posted the image.   You'll lift up the "clam shell" sides and the chip can be removed.  No special tools are needed.

BIOS 80 in E760
After powering off a for couple of days,Volume 0(RAID0 4xV-Raptors)
gets moved, in BIOS, to the 3rd HDD position from the first resulting in "Boot Drive Not Found". Reset Boot order in BIOS it will start fine only to again move to 3rd position (Gremlins ?)
JMicron drives are, finally, not going missing anymore :)
Other than the Boot order thing, all seems more stable than ever, thanks folks.

ETA on regular version?

The more people who try it and give feedback...probably the faster that things can be corrected (if necessary).  The more people who try it, have different combinations of components which is when issues can come up.

Nothing wrong with trying a beta version.  If it's not stable enough for you, roll it back.  Just because a version may be considered non-beta, does not mean that your particular setup may not have issues with it...everyone's system is a bit different...

Okay I am just done finishing tuning and reoverclocking my system and I have takes screenshots from all steps before and after.

Check the included screenshots.

1st ss: Benchmark before bios update, as my system was at that moment.
2nd ss: After bios update (not overclocked).
3rd ss: After bios with clean install (not overclocked).
4th ss: After overclocking, clean windows install and enabled write-back cache, it seems I had forgotten that option in my previous screenshots)

On a sidenote; finally got my system how I want it. Rock-stable. Linx 24 hours and Prime95 12 hours.

I also included some screenies of benchmark test with my memory.

Great bios update.

EVGA used to be a great company (I've been a customer since early 2005). But after 2017 it went completely downhill. EVGA doesn't treat customers as customers, but as complete idiots! I used to own over 30 EVGA products (videocards, motherboards, PSU's and so on). Not anymore. #evga #pathetic

I think we will -- EVGA has come through with the new ROMs as requested, and that's the harder and bigger job than fixing double-pump VT. As I understand it, a fix was already used in the past but removed because some people had problems (but others didn't). At the very least they could easily add that again and let those of use who use VT frequently try it out, even as a beta BIOS.

There have been enough people asking for this that it has to be top priority next on their list. For me, whether this gets fixed determines whether I buy EVGA boards in future.

Anyone else get a temp increase on their OC after flashing to the newest BIOS? noticed ive gained about 2 to 3C at idle and 6 to 8C at load.

Crusheddream

Anyone else get a temp increase on their OC after flashing to the newest BIOS? noticed ive gained about 2 to 3C at idle and 6 to 8C at load.

Same there and i found that with this bios i need one step more of vcore to run at the same frequency of 64 and 77 bios.

Vcore on auto for my I7-950 was 1.2000v and with this bios it jumped to 1.2875v... This explain the temperature increase in my case.

Loose C1E function if I change vcore from auto to manual

I haven't noticed any temp change but then again I'm on dual water loops so I shouldn't see one.

With the latest bios 80 my computer hangs at shutdown sometimes. It happens when I put my computer to sleep once throughout the day. At night when I go to sleep and shut down my computer it hangs. My monitor turns off and everything but the computer still on. I uploaded a video showing that everything is running like the cpu fan, graphics fan, and the motherboard still on. This never happened in the last bios.

I already email Jacob about it but no response yet. Last bios I never had this problem.

Another problem too is that my monitor sometimes will stay off when I start my computer from cold boot or sleep. The computer starts normally but my monitor stays off. I have to manually turn off and on the monitor to show the desktop.

Here is the vid on youtube of my computer hanging at shutdown:

Here are my bios settings (Same settings I used in the previos bios and never had a problem for many months):

This is a known problem, and it *does* happen with previous BIOSes. I had it in 77 and I have it in 80 now as well.

This is one of the many annoying problems I've found with EVGA boards that other manufacturers don't appear to suffer. Next on my PLEASE FIX IT list is the VT double-pump. After that, I'd like this bug fixed too -- I reported this a few pages back, but wasn't able to determine what triggers it, so if you have that's fantastic and hopefully EVGA will be able to narrow down the cause.

As an aside: isn't that VTT way past Intel spec of 1.4 max (I'd imagine you're on 1.6 with +325)? If it works great, but for how long? :)
