With the latest bios 80 my computer hangs at shutdown sometimes. It happens when I put my computer to sleep once throughout the day. At night when I go to sleep and shut down my computer it hangs. My monitor turns off and everything but the computer still on. I uploaded a video showing that everything is running like the cpu fan, graphics fan, and the motherboard still on. This never happened in the last bios.

I already email Jacob about it but no response yet. Last bios I never had this problem.

Another problem too is that my monitor sometimes will stay off when I start my computer from cold boot or sleep. The computer starts normally but my monitor stays off. I have to manually turn off and on the monitor to show the desktop.

Here is the vid on youtube of my computer hanging at shutdown:

Here are my bios settings (Same settings I used in the previos bios and never had a problem for many months):

Hello the system appearing to shut down but everything staying on sounds like your OS is requesting a sleep state.

sounds like your entering apm state not acpi.

is acpi sleep states enabled in the bios?

This is a known problem, and it *does* happen with previous BIOSes. I had it in 77 and I have it in 80 now as well.

This is one of the many annoying problems I've found with EVGA boards that other manufacturers don't appear to suffer. Next on my PLEASE FIX IT list is the VT double-pump. After that, I'd like this bug fixed too -- I reported this a few pages back, but wasn't able to determine what triggers it, so if you have that's fantastic and hopefully EVGA will be able to narrow down the cause.

As an aside: isn't that VTT way past Intel spec of 1.4 max (I'd imagine you're on 1.6 with +325)? If it works great, but for how long? :)

I thought it was just happening to me. Too bad a lot of bugs still left to fix on EVGA boards after 2 years if owning 759 Classified motherboard. I though by now we would have something a lot more stable. The bugs are very annoying and they don't seem to be happening to other X58 board manufacturers. I hope that Jacob sees my email and my post about the bugs I listed cause they certainly are very annoying and shouldn't be happening on their high end boards.

Yes VTT is high but I need to to keep my CPU stable with my memory. Don't know how long it will last but as long as it lasts me another year or two I'll be fine.

Yaboze
I appreciate that Jacob and EVGA came though with this 80 Beta, but personally, my beef was with the VT double pump, the Raid BIOS is just a bonus (for me).

I'm going to wait until that is put in, but since it hasn't even been mentioned, I'm doubtful we'll ever see it fixed.

I think we will -- EVGA has come through with the new ROMs as requested, and that's the harder and bigger job than fixing double-pump VT. As I understand it, a fix was already used in the past but removed because some people had problems (but others didn't). At the very least they could easily add that again and let those of use who use VT frequently try it out, even as a beta BIOS.

There have been enough people asking for this that it has to be top priority next on their list. For me, whether this gets fixed determines whether I buy EVGA boards in future.

----------------------------------
I'm ok with martigen, I also request corrections in the next bios (not 6 months).
Why is long with EVGA to get the correct bios?
Dual booting is really bad for the hardware (hdd) so now we must work to finally remove it, and why not do bios beta 80 with the correction if it works for sure, if this does not work, ok go back to official bios 80 and here, in the meantime.
I acknowledge the work for new bios and am happy about that but now we must continue, not stop for 3 months as before.
For me too, it'll be the first factor to purchase new EVGA

The next BIOS we are progressing on. We are looking to fix the screen refresh when Intel RAID Rom shows (already fixed) and also enable dynamic voltage when turbo is enabled and voltage set manually (still testing)

Can you make the first screen to appear for a little longer period of time? The one with the system info, bios, gpus number etc. It boots so fast that it does't show up ))

Jacob,

How about the option to disable the marvell controller in the bios.. seems to be missing in ver80. I dont use it so I like to disable things I dont use in the bios to keep system resources as free as possible.

Hey, I think I have found a bug:
When I connected my second raid 0 array...
...
EDIT: I take back what I said - it's not a bios bug, it's something in my system on software level. Reconnected using different cables the second raid array to sata 4.5 instaed of sata 2.3, reinstalled the intel drivers - as the result, the system loads with both arrays everytime.

EVGA_JacobF thank you again for your work and continue with new bios.

Really try to fix the boot 2 times would be great, many people ask this, (and also our hard drives).
We appreciate your business.

Awesome news! Is it possible if you could let us know if your considering using the Intel version of the AHCI rom instead of Pheonix's? Or if there is some unforeseen problem with using it? Most people were kind of expecting that to be part of the Raid bios update since unlike the raid rom when it was manually added it worked, but it must use a different syntax then the Pheonix since the bios cant communicate with it.

I know allot of people have been hoping for that, and it would benefit everyone, not just those with a Raid volume.

The Intel RAID rom has not been fully tested, so there are no plans to move to it at this time.

Also we are still working on the VT double boot.

Works fine for me....however, 210 blck is really high for stable S3. You have to decide between a coupld of notches lower on bclk or unstable S3.

Sorry I did not answer earlier but I somehow missed your reply.

That is my settings that I have... When the computer hangs in shutdown, all I do is press shutdown in Windows 7. Nothing else. The only thing I notice is that it happens when in the day I put my computer to sleep at least once. Doesn't happen always but it has happen when I put my computer to sleep at least once in the day, when I go to shutdown my computer the computer hangs just like I showed in the video.

Not sure if sleep causes this but shutdown hasn't hanged when I don't put my computer to sleep at least once in the day. So I'm thinking it has to do with sleep with the latest bios. At least for me, this hasn't happened in the previous bios just the new 80 bios.

No, with manual vcore, I can't even manage 190 BCLK and working S3. It reboots on 3rd consecutive wakeup instead of resuming. I would have just liked BCLK of 200 and working S3. But Auto vcore can only take it to 196 stably. Beyond that I need manual vcore, which of course doesn't let S3 work.

For those of you who use VT and don't like the double boot, and are interested in testing a possible release candidate BIOS, can you send me a mail at jacobf@evga.com

Make sure to specify the motherboard you have.

I am observing exactly the same thing with this BIOS. Computer would appear to shut down. Windows has gone through its shutdown screen. The power led is off but the fans keep on spinning and the motherboard is still powered. This happens only if I have previously put my computer in standby.

Three people testing this bios now have the same bug happening to them. Definitely a bug EVGA as to look into.

The next BIOS we are progressing on. We are looking to fix the screen refresh when Intel RAID Rom shows (already fixed) and also enable dynamic voltage when turbo is enabled and voltage set manually (still testing)

Hey Jacob, about the dynamic voltage, it is working fine. I'm using 191bclk with turbo 21x and vcore is set manually to 1.35000v and CPU-Z report vcore at idle 1.07v @ 2.2GHz and it go up to 4.0GHz @ 1.33v under load.
