Please....please, fix the double pump with Virtualization on!? Just make one bios based on 77 or whatever with just that in it.

I'm just hoping my new classy-3 doesn't double pump like the 758 did.  Can anyone at least mention why the board pumps like this?

When you guys refer to 'double pump' you mean that after a bios change the system shuts off and then turns on again? I mean I have two other boards that do the same thing from another vendor other than Evga. It is annoying but not a deal breaker...

Thanks.

I purchased my board 7 months ago never had any issues with the motherboard.  I have a few questions about flashing the BIOS.  If I flash the BIOS to this newest flash will my "E" logo on the board stop working?  I've heard from some people that it does thats why I asked.  This double pump thing you guys are talking about does not currently happen with my board, even if I cut the power with the switch in the back of the PSU.  Will this be an issue later?  By the way I have the 760 Classified Board.

u should be good after bios flash too ... the double pump problem only appears when u have virtualization activated in the bios ... so no worries for u

no ... you won't ... because the E logo is not controled by bios ... it's working because it's taking power from the mootherboard thru a two or three pin power conector ( something like the one that powers the coolers) ... u have to disconnect the wire from the mobo to stop it from working
PS: my english is not the best ... sorry

My memory performance took a big hit by updating to this bios.Running winsat/mem my performance is now 21889.52 mb/s it used to be around 30000 mb/s.I use 7 7 7 20 70 1t and all of the other memory settings on auto before and after updating. Are there some other settings that were relaxed with the new update that might boost my memory back up.Other than the poor memory performance this bios is rock solid and I would rather not flash back to 59.

Where is the virtualization option even located in the BIOS settings?

Wow.. Excellent observation. This last update has been problematic over here too! We've got a special trial connector service running on my machine that keeps freaking out when I'm transmitting/converting really big multi-page documents. The techs at the internet fax service (MetroFax) are awesome and they keep giving me live updates to try and it's been getting better.. However from the build notes, from what I can understand, all they are tweaking is the caching settings and they swear my PC should not be having the issues that it is with the hardware specs I have. Each new connector build is even slower than the last so I'd almost rather roll back to a slower bios build as that's a major annoyance when everyone's dropping documents into the connector for conversions and it's just building a large queue to chew on for hours instead of delivering right away.

I would  an update that lets me eat this damn cake..

I have updated my E760 to Bios 77.

Well on post my system hangs now, getting a F7 error code, my keyboard doesn't work here so I can't go into the BIOS.

Basicly after detected the drives, I get "CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded"

I have loaded Bios Defaults before the flash, have done the cmos reset after the flash.

But now my keyboard isn't detected at this point

here are all the details, if someone else may had this and could help me out :

New system build, flashed new bios (77) and marvell chipset (1.0.0.1407). I am having two glitches in the bios.
1) CPU clock ratio; when you try to go with ratio 26 or more turbo mode is reactivated, with no option to disable.
2) Hard Disc Boot Priority;  Does not hold the settings. Whenever I have my Passport WD500 , system backup drive attaced to one of the USB ports. Boot priority changes randomly. I have set my CM300 as the 1st priority, with the First Boot Device as hard drive with all other boot devices disabled and boot from other device disabled. When I shut the system down and turn it on the next morning. I have to go back into the boot priority and set my CM300 as the 1st priority. It has switched my boot priority to either the Raid or Passport drives which do not contain the OS.

Nope. My philosophy is if it "ain't" broke, don't fix it.  My BIOS version is S61G. I'm happy with my overclock and the stability of the system, so I see no need to update it.

EVGA Classified 3 (EVGA E770)

BCLK 200 - CPU vCore 1.35 (Core i7 920)

Speedstep :
downclock CPU Mhz --- OK
CPU vCore - doesn't work (1.35v to 0.9x)
(with my SLi Micro and FTW3  it worked, the CPU vCore down clocks (1.35v to 0.9x)  with SPEEDSTEP)

Thanks.

Yes that's exactly what they mean. The issue with the double pump is that the HDDs don't spin down fully before being restarted. I've seen and had more head crashes and failures in systems from that alone then any thing else. While it might not be too big a deal for users with SSD it's a big deal for those of us who are running several terabyte sized HDDs in RAID for storage.

Yes that's exactly what they mean. The issue with the double pump is that the HDDs don't spin down fully before being restarted. While it might not be too big a deal for users with SSD it's a big deal for those of us who are running several terabyte sized HDDs in RAID for storage.

Then EVGA bios engineers are going to have to get rid of that pump! How hard is that?  A board that risks data loss is not one that you would want. My main boot drive is a SSD though I have a four disk raid 5 array which hopefully would correct data loss, but are you saying there could be an actual chance the drives could get damaged physically? What are the odds? And turning off Virtualization option turns off the double pump issue?

I would imagine a company like Evga would cater to the enthusiast crowd and fix such a problem because they want to have return customers? Like I said my Asus Amd boards do the same thing. Its no big deal if like you make a once a year bios change and forget it. Though if your an avid overclocker and one who experiments with all those different bios features of which the board was sold upon sounds like you could have a real pain in the arse problem. As a consumer and tech enthusiast I think we should hold such companies accountable. Maybe set up a web site blog independent of these forums and their moderators.

Final word I have to say is that I still have enjoyed playing around my Classfied 759. Ever since I swapped my Ocz ram for Corsair its been the most stable board I've owned ever. On bios 77 and my overclock is holding up nicely. Have concerns about the upgradibility of this board. Want to put in a third 480 GTX but may have to pass as I am concerned about the power 24 pin overload problem which is a shame as this board was billed as a three way sli plus physx motherboard with room for an XFi to boot!

Oh well...

Hi guy's still on bios "H" from a year ago and never had any issues @ [920]4.1-4.2 [E760]
-I couldn't wait any longer for the new G3 , so with the sales going on , ended up with two G2-120gb for raid 0 [os W7\64] and will move my 2x 150 vraptors to back drives.
-I have to reload W7 ,so in bios 77 are there any improvements [from H ] to warrant updating the bios for ssd -raid 0 ? I understand the raid rom has not been updated ?
-I do have a usb floppy now[ if that's safer]-used cd in the past updates.

its primarily a warning for making sure that the system doesn't reset during the flashing process itself. So, if it flashed successfully, its fine! You don't have to worry. But don't play Russian roulette with BIOS flashing next time....;-)

Just an FYI to the EVGA BIOS crew: Intel has updated their X58 RAID ROM to 10.0.0.1046 in their latest BIOS from 11/9/2010. Would be awesome to see that in our next release as well. It would also match the latest available drivers.
