So I guess no one else is having the 25 error. I will retry flashing to bios 73 then. I am using 59 right now and the CPU is stable at 4.2 with HT at 1.24V

Hi, Ever since I went with the newer BIOS 74 the mobo keeps trying to find the wrong HD to boot.  I change and change in BIOS the startup BOOT HD but to no avail.  The only way I can bought this EVGA X58 SLI is to hit the ESCAPE buttion at start up and wait for that Windows (Vista) boot-up box and when I select the correct HD it boots fine.

Why can't BIOS keep and maintain the right Bott HD ?

Thanks,
patrick

EVGA X58 758 SLI with two 9800 GTs in SLI, 4gb Dimms (200) slower Dimms (1333)
on order.  BTW , I put the too fast 2000 Dimms at 8-8-8-24 and voltage at 1.5v per EVGA
and ordered per EVGA slower Dimms rated at 1333.

Have you tried replacing your BIOS battery?

The battery is good.  The problem was ME,  when in BIOS, the area re selecting the HD to boot list, I just highlighted the HD Boot source but did not think to raise it up the drive tree to the top of the list.  Thus, every start up went to the wrong HD to boot (which of course always failed).

BTW: All the BIOS settings stay put with the exception of the fans in MANUAL mode at 100%.  Every time I boot up, it reverts back to so called SmartFan and not Manual mode at 100%.

Thanks,

Patrick

PS: SW that used to run on the old mobo now don't on my EVGA with the i7 980x.  Seems the 32 bit SW liked the slower better than what I have now.  So I upgraded for faster video rendering and ending up limiting my SW selections.

Just so you know:  If you lower the number of Cores the i7 980X is using, like from 5 to 2, then the 32bit sw works, such as Sorensen and Boris.

Thanks,

Patrick
