I'm about to change my Xeon W3520 champ for an i7 980x.

What bios do you guys recommend??

My Classified is the 759-A1.

Thank you.

If you do not use VT, then bios 49 is the best so far.

hmm I don't and my board was flashed to 49 right before I sold my 920. My 980X will be here shortly today

Glad to see see you changed your mind again

I am using 49 with VT.  I need to occasionally boot a virtual XP (using virtualbox) instance in order to access my company's VPN because it won't work with Windows Exploder 8.  It's working fine for me.  What issue are you having?

You know me personally I have found no reason to change from s61b ...I dont like the dimm voltage issue but all you have to do is set it .3 lower to get it right other than that 4ghz stable everything works and no issues.  Whats your reasons? Just curious.

Anyone know if the Nahelem Turbo mode bug has been fixed for a 920 D0? I mean if I set Turbo mode on and Performance mode off will the multipliers still go crazy?

disabling CxE Function should stop this

or you can disable Trubo Mode and use the 20x multiplier.

This is only a bug if CxE Function being disabled doesnt stop it.

Anybody with XMP memory Profiles?

XMP Memory Profiles doesn't show in bios correctly and If I set XMP Profiles I get "FF" error.

I don't know if the problem is MB, bios or memory.

When I set XMP Profile, I can let other values like frecuences and voltages in auto, can't I? Or I must to change voltages, VTT, uncore,...

I say it, because the bios should be able to set profiles without changing any other values of the MB, like memory voltages (1.65v) cpu voltages, frecuences, VTT, uncore,..

Regards.

If you want to run 32-bit guest, yes, you don't. But if you want to run 64-bit guest, VT is needed even if you disable VT-x in the guest VM's settings.

Good results with this one so far for me, the S3 Resume CL timing bug is indeed fixed, which is great news.

Still no fix for the PCIe bandwidth allocation where an x1 in Slot 2 or 4 drops Slot 1 and 3 to x8, at this point it probably won't be fixed.

Exactly.  I occasionally run 64-bit Ubuntu Linux 9.10 as well.  Also without VT, I believe you can't assign more than one processor to a guest.

Went to update last night and it did not take and now I have to RMA the motherboard. :( at least EVGA has the best warranty in the biz and advanced RMA.

Re:EVGA X58 Motherboards - BIOS 51 Released 2010/04/07 06:53:41 (permalink)
I am using Windows XP Mode from Microsoft with Windows 7 x64. When I used the 49 Bios, it would not work at all because it needs VT. The system detects the processor supports VT, but it sees it as "off". The MS tool that shows if you have VT shows this.

I flashed back to the bios right before 44/49 and VT works again. There may be other Virtual programs that don't need VT on the processor to work, those should be fine.

I am just waiting for a fix that allows VT and removes the double-pump on restart. Very annoying.

so the cas delay on s3 resume is indeed fixed.
it also seems pretty stable.

i did encounter a reboot on 3rd s3 resume.  is this a known issue?

My MB is the X58 SLi, and S22D is for Classified. However, I hope EVGA team can give us a bios without XMP problem, because I think EVGA is a great company and it is a shame new bios don't support XMP memory Profiles.

The initial boot screen will show the BIOS number.  you may have to hit your pause key to see it.

Hi All , I am having an issue with BIOS 51 on a 756 X58 Micro with corsair CM3X2G1600C9 12gb 1600 mem. After updating the BIOS to 51 from 44 I was unable to get the memory to run at 1600 using any of the setting that I know. I reverted back to BIOS 44 and the mem runs properly at 1600. is there something I am missing? here are the setting that I changed from BIOS default in both cases

XMP1 enabled
DIMM v 1.60 ( as per corsair for my specific mem)
speedstep enabled

these are the only changes I made and it works on 44 but not on 51. couls this be a bug?

Put your memeory settings in manually instead of using the Xmp profile. It adds way to much Vtt voltage on any bios i have ever tried.

Putting in the memory settings manually does work but the bios should have the XMP settings work if it is an option. If it is not supposed to work then EVGA should remove that optional setting in bios.

Of course. My opinion is the same than your opinion. XMP Profile should have to work in auto (not change any values, even voltages).

However My memory doesn't work manually or with XMP Profile. 51 bios, 44 bios or other.

I send my memory to RMA, but if the problem is not the memory I should have to pay sending and testing cost. I hope the problem is the memory. If it is not a memory problem, I will not buy EVGA products anymore.
