Okay, Good it's not just me then. Something in the sequence change is probably the culprit.

yep for me i think it has not added the 21x multiplier and is still at 20x at boot it must change at some point after that.

For the i7 920 the 21x is a turbo multiplier and it is not supposed to be on at bootup, so rody's "problem" is not a problem.  That's the function by design.  However, in your case I am not sure...you said you are loosing several multipliers at boot, correct?

yes, I was getting ready to try one of pete's bios for the core i9 , but after this issue, I'll wait. I called it in. so EVGA is aware of it.

I am having problems with Sleep wether I use S1, S3 or S1&S3.

Whenever I go into sleep for 1hr or overnight I am able to resume from sleep back into windows BUT within 5mins my PC will just power down every time. I then need to turn off/on the power supply and reboot from there to get the PC working again.

Nice to have ya back Moltenlava,

I was wondering, did you load the new bios yet, and did you have a different OC number show up on you first post other than what you set in Bios?

I poster this a couple of days ago when I was still on S225.  I flash S22D yesterday and there was no change.

I am currently running OCZ 1866Mhz memory.  OCZ tech support told me to set the timings to 9-9-9-28 2T (it does not run for long with a 1T command rate). When I run this memory at 1866MHz, S3 sleep behaves in a very weird manor.  First, it takes a lot longer to go to sleep--like about a minute or more.  Then, when I attempt to wake (keyboard or power sw), the system starts up, but hangs before anything appears on the screen.  The only way I can get out of that is to power off.   Then, when I power back on, I get a normal startup to Windows, but I find that I am right where I was when I went into sleep.    When I run this memory at 1600MHz I go in and out of S3 sleep in a second or two every time, which is the way it worked when I had my old 1600MHz memory.

The CPU is NOT overclocked at this time.

The reason you do not see any error is because you have hybrid sleep enabled. It writes hibernation file while entering sleep while still only goes into S3. This is done in case of power failure or MB S3 resume failure. It is nice feature. Going back to your original problem with memory. Memory stabillity is important for stable sleep. On i7 920 anything above 1066 MHZ memory speed is considered overclocking even if your CPU stays at the same speed.

I did lot of testing on S3 and I have found that S3 works best at timings of 10-10-10- 25-74-1T.

Re:EVGA X58 Classified (E759) - S22D BIOS Released 2009/12/17 13:13:29 (permalink)
Well for me this bios is not stable.  I am having a sound issue specifically with my X-fi Titanium.  I will start playing a game (Batman) and then the sound will die.  When I go into the sound control panel (Creative) it crashes the computer.  Let's not even talk about S3 for me as I have not ever been able to get it to work.  I am not sure if it is my memory or my 3 x 5870s that are causing the problem or if it is my overclock.  I can pass 20 passes of linx with no issues and games do not crash only sound.  The sound issue did not happen until I installed this bios.  Of note:  Things seemed to work fine at stock one time out of about 4.  Not sure why.  Any suggestions would be great.

No I have cleared Cmos both before BIOS update and after and have turned off HD Audio and I do not save or load profiles. I manually enter the OC info each time I update.   I am beginning to think it is related to my sound card.  It may be on its last legs.  I have no issues with onboard sound or with a USB soundcard (X-fi).  Other than I can only get stereo sound.  I may need a new sound card.  I went back to S225 with the same results as this BIOS.  I will continue testing and report back, but maybe in a separate post as this does not appear to be BIOS related.

It is indeed my sound card.  At least as far as making the computer crash.  I may still need to tweak my OC to get Sleep to work properly.

Update:  The computer is sleeping properly for the first time in I don't know how long.  So clearly it was the sound card.

It actually appears to be driver/software related to the sound card.  Still I am happy to report this BIOS is working well for me now.

I'll ask Peter to send me betas in the future as well to make sure that things are more/less running smoothly before release.  I helped him test this time and there is a generally better response surrounding this BIOS than there was for a while...

I suppose, in it's simplest sense, you could think of it like an old clock in a train station.  That old clock sometimes likes to run fast, and people get upset because they think the train is late.

The High Precision Event Timer would be like installing a more accurate clock in the train station, causing fewer people to be upset because they think the train is late.

(the 'people' in this analogy would be the devices installed in your system, and the 'train' would be the slots on the motherboard... more or less)

You really don't.  It was disabled for no reason...and there is really no compelling reason to disable it, ever.

You *should* start a new thread instead of posting in a BIOS update thread.  I'm sure others will be glad to help you out, but off hand I don't see any issues.  Good luck.

Re:EVGA X58 Classified (E759) - S22D BIOS Released 2010/01/08 21:28:05 (permalink)
I was looking through the posts, and I wanted to ask if there are any difficulties to be expected.

a) if I leave my bios @ S21T (05/06/2009)
b) if I update to the latest S22D bios

and run the ES of an i9 Xeon CPU.

Is it just me or am i a retard, but all download link won't work for me

And uh.. will it fix my problem? i cant boot to windows if i add another card into any of the PCI-E x16 slot. It works fine if i only use 1 GPU and a soundcard (PCI-E x1).

I would like to thank all EVGA community and especially Mr Dejanh for patience and persistence. You all guys did a phenomenal job. I was watching the battle for ultimate bios for quite some time, and have to say, was sitting on s21h (winks at atfrico) for a while now. Tried just about all of em though. This one is the winner so far. (Long time run needed of cause).
Using the same overclock so far but. Vtt drop from +175 to +150, Vcore from 1.2500 to 1.2375 (and maybe even more:))))
Shamino, thank you guys.

PS o ye and my ram now finally where it suppose to be at 1866mhz no sweat. Cheers
Verdict - Recommended .

dejanh

That was my biggest fear when my Classified appeared to have bit the dust about a month back...turned out it was the EK block warping the board that was causing my troubles.  This board is so good but so sensitive

deajanh, I hope you're still keeping in touch.  I'm having an issue with a PCIe slot (#2) with the EK water block installed myself on this MOBO.  Did you use the 'delrin' washers or leave them off when installing the EK water block?  I know it's optional, but I installed with the washers to hopefully avoid any tweaking of my E759 'Classifed'.  When I first checked into water blocks for this MOBO some of the videos online even show not putting the delrin washers in.  Hope you have time to respond.

I can't get the second slot to recognize my GTX 295 or any GTX 295.  I've RMA'd two GTX 295 cards and the slot works for a GTX 260, but not for a GTX 295.
Dang, this is not the right place for this question, but it was in response to something dejanh posted.
