Updated this bios from S21H, yeap, I decided to take the risk this time. So far no complaints or any BSOD with the previous OC that I had on my last bios.  I havent performed Linx test runs yet, but I'll post results in case anything bad happens. Like the new features. Thanks for the bios

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Try disabling HPET in BIOS and see if that helps. Any longer than 15 minutes in S3 with this BIOS and it will not wake up properly for me. Board wakes up just fine but Video card will not. I have tried it any which way but it does not work. I am on the 195.62 drivers

Have you tried toggling the "Run VGABIOS if S3 Resume" option in the BIOS (under Power Management Setup menu)?

Which cards are you guys using?  I've been waking up now for a few days with this BIOS after 10+ hours of sleep without issues at 215MHz+ BCLK.

FYI, I'm using either ATI 48xx series or GTX 260 (216) cards.  Newest ATI drivers have a lot of problems for me (driver problems, unrelated to the board but they do cause BSODs) so I moved those cards into another rig, and I am running 190.xx drivers for NVIDIA.  Never wanted to update to newest drivers due to issues people were reporting with them, particularly board failures.

Tested some more and my problem is that using the HPET function borks the S3 recovery for video card (GTX295 Note: Tried two different GTX295 dual PCB cards  ). Does not metter what drivers I use. Only video card does not recover. Everything else does recover since there is an entry in event viewer that indicates resume time. Disabling HPET makes S3 work. I can reproduce this problem with OC or stock settings. Tonight I will try HPET again but with 32 bit selection and see what happens. After that I will test it with different video card (9800GT). We are so close to getting this board perfect..........

Great to hear.  I can assure you from my end that HPET 64-bit and GTX 260 (216) works good.  It could very well be something to do with the particular cards.  I guess the 9800GT will help in diagnosing that :)

What OS are you running by the way and is it a fresh install?

S3 fails with HPET at 32 or 64 bit setting. Tried with fresh install also. However no help there. This is geting old. Can we dedicate good solid month to S3 testing please. I think we have reached max OC potential until core i9 arrives. PLEASE EVGA GIVE S3 SOME PROPER LOVE .

So your S3 is failing with HPET?  Mine works just fine...what was the result of your video card testing, particularly with the 9800GT since you already reported problems with GTX295s.

I have not tested with single GPU card yet. I am tired of testing and probably will not test with single GPU card. One year has passed since X58 boards intrduction and S3 still has problems one way or the other. Inferior (by today's standard) 780i board in SLI with 2 8800gt had S3 working properly while OC'ed. I have cheap a$$ mother boards at my office that have better and more stable S3 or S4 features. Not to mention that these EVGA X58 boards do not have S4 wake up from USB device. Do not get me wrong my S3 sleep work with HPET disabled but it takes 37 seconds to resume. Damn it, I can boot from power off in less time then this. On the next mobo purchase I will have to look for mobo that has all of the power saving features working properly.

Rant over.

Well, I get where you are coming from.  However, to compare this board to previous boards is not fair as the architecture of Nehalem/X58 is significantly more complicated and intricate than previous gen products.  I'm was personally hoping to be able to figure out why your system would experience such issues with GTX295s and/or eliminate them as the cause.  Aside from the video cards and your drives my setup is pretty much exactly the same (I tested Dominators as well) and I have no issues, HPET enabled too.  It would be very helpful if you can just test the single card, that's all.  You do not even have to remove your GTX295s, just disable the PCI-E ports and plug in the single 9800GT.

In terms of USB waking up the computer, I am able to do this if I enable the USB keyboard wake up in BIOS.  My mouse or keyboard then wakes up the computer.

I don't understand how you expect to be able to wake on usb in S4, the very definition of a S4 hibernate means there is no power to the system. If you've seen a computer than can wake on usb in S4 its not really in S4.

Wait, S4 is the equivalent of Hibernate, is it not?  So yes, you are right then.  I personally never use Hibernate for anything...so I just assumed S4 was a state that you can wake up from using USB.  I know from S3 I wake up using USB though without issues.

Yes you can wake up from S4 with USB device. However it is not implemented on these boards. It is hardware locked. S5 is absolute power down. If you guys have Asus boards or even reference EVGA 780i Nvidia boards you can wake your PC from S4 with USB device such as mouse or keyboard or IR receiver.

Test it with the different video card, you put the work in and are so close to being able to eliminate all other possibilities it doesn't make sense to stop now with 1 test left. The outcome of that last test will determine whether it is the GTX 295's or something potentially defective with your motherboard.

Ya earlier chrome had a problem from downloading from ftp links, a fix for this is out on the dev channel for awhile but I guess it has not made its way down to the stable build.

one thing I found weird is, that I found that your clock speed settings in bios do not follow though to the first post. I oc'ed to 4.5ghz. but my first post shows me at 4.08ghz. Yet, when I'm in Windows, and look at Eleet it shows the correct oced 4.5ghz. Shamino can you look at this? it just freaked me out. could be a minor glitch. Thanks.

Re:EVGA X58 Classified (E759) - S22D BIOS Released 2009/12/07 12:37:53 (permalink)
Was wondering if this bios fixes the save and load profile problem? In my case I'm on S227 bios, and when I load a profile from slot #4 for instance not all options in bios get changed like Turbo Mode was still left on even though I was sure it wasn't suppose to be. Not only that it would be nice if you could assign names to the profiles so that it would be easier to remember which profile is which. I set profile #1 as my default and when I loaded it some of the voltage options were totally wrong and so I corrected them all and saved CMOS options but what happened was the system wouldn't post as profile #1 was garbage and had to do a CMOS reset after getting a stroke to boot up again!

Thanks.

Well I tried this one again and still MCHP strap only works on auto and uncore will only work on auto. I like the bios I have S223 even tested the sleep mode that everyone complains about not working, Works fine for me with a 4629MHz O/C. Yeah the S223 is not an "official" release but I like it and it has support for the gulftown when they are released.
