Question on the below when installing mobo in a case.. what have people done so far? Did you take the pre-installed I/O shield off before installing the external I/O shield. I can't believe the alligment would be good with the added thickness. Asking before I build my PC this weekend.

The motherboard kit comes with an internal and external I/O shield

The external I/O shield is designed to fit over the pre-installed shield, so you will not normally need to remove the pre-installed I/O shield.

I left mine as is and snapped the back I/O Shield in place in the Case, no issue at all to note.
A known issue with some X299 Dark Motherboards is some Battery are Bad and should be replaced before you install it.
You have to remove the Chipset Cooler Cover to change the battery and need to remove some screws on the Back Side of the MB.

yes but it's little tough to fit in there, I had to remove padding from I/O

the preinstalled io shield will hold the Wifi antenna IPEX Connector and you can install the provided io shield to cover the screw hold the IPEX Connector
