Nereus Posted this in wrong thread, delete pls. ..WAIT! ..why waste a perfectly good post. Here: Although I agree, $40 is pretty steep for what it is, but some of the reactions are way over the top.
It is what it is.

Whatever, call it entitlement but this will give EVGA bad rep if others are offering this cable free of charge. That is called service, and we pay for that when we choose premium products over others. Guess this puts EVGA in the bin it belongs.

Yeah that post was prompted in response to some of the comments made, maybe went a bit far, sorry if it offends. Kind of. I certainly agree with the idea EVGA could supply it with any of their 3090 cards that use the 12-pin connector, that would definitely be a smart move (and could be factored into the cost anyway, as it will with any retailer who makes such an offer), but as far as just giving it away at cost (or close to it) to anyone who thinks they deserve one - nope. This is a single cable. Individually sleeved cables for say a 24 pin connector usually go for around $20 from random 3rd parties.. so maybe $30 would be reasonable for this, being that it's EVGA and synonymous with quality and service. $40 is a bit steep (as I already said) but I've never associated EVGA with low quality gear, so at least you know you're getting good gear for that premium.

ya considering you can by an entire cable extension kit for 40$. and Cablemods pro series COMPLETE KIT for EVGA for 90$.. and EVGA's own cable mod kits for ... OMG EVGA changed the store listings for basically all psu cables. Now every individual cable is 40$ ROFL. Nice move EVGA.... Isn't that special. Now not only is the new 12 pin cable overpriced but also every cable EVGA resells... With this pricing an entire cable mod for a 1300W T2 could cost over 400$ Which mind you is more expensive than the retail price of the PSU....

Corsair have been asking $30 for basic individual sleeved cables, and $35 to $40 for individually sleeved ATX cables for ages, which is pretty much on par with EVGA asking $40 for this special split 12-pin cable adapter, but I don't see people losing their schiff over Corsair prices and threatening not to buy Corsair products ever again, so what's the big deal? All the standard EVGA cables are $5.99 ..but yeah, all the individually sleeved ones are all now showing as $39.99. I thought they were cheaper. When did that change? I have one of those complete kits of EVGA cables btw, they are good value for $90 considering there's 14 separate individually sleeved cables there (including an ATX cable).. even budget places would charge $200+ to sell all those separately. Corsair ask about the same price as EVGA for a cable set, but again, no freak outs over Corsair prices....

They changed to justify the pricing on the 12pin. I caught it and pointed it out. Who cares? I am struggling to even care. But at least PSU cable pricing should be related to material cost per conductor and the labor. It makes no sense that the 24 conductor and a 6 / 8 conductor are the same 40$ price.... This demonstrates that EVGA just chose a flat price and applied to all the cables on the store to normalize pricing between the new 12pin and the legacy cables...

I agree, it doesn't make much sense having them all at that price. $30 for 'standard' sleeved cables and $40 for ATX and this new 12 pin cable would be in line with Corsair prices. There is more involved with this new cable because of the splitting, so an additional labor fee is justified. Raising the price on all the other cables, not so much.

I guess its good I still own two Seasonic power supplies and can get two 12 pin cables for free. I wish EVGA would do the same and offer free cables 12 pin cables to their power supply owners.

Is anyone aware of this cable being made available in the APAC region? Australia is getting FE cards and for those who have a modular EVGA PSU it would be awesome to get one of these cables. @ Are you or someone from EVGA able to comment? Cheers

The 12-pin adaptors are available right now btw [ link]... $50 for me once NY sales tax & shipping was added.. ouch. ..I may have just wasted $50 if these cards are going to be permanently out of stock. No worries, I can sell it on EBay for $1,000 lol..

I grabbed one to go with my non-existent FE. Though the site was lagging, crashing, not loading, for some reason, my EVGA bucks disappeared when it finally went through and charged me the full amount? OK.

Something that doesn't make sense to me is that the 12-pin cable will require using two VGA slots on a PSU. This appears to be extremely bad for every mining setup out there and here's why: GeForce RTX 3070 max power draw: 220 Watts. Simple mining rig max power draw: 150 Watts Powering a simple mining rig (approximately 150 maximum Watts) along with RTX 3070 GPUs: - EVGA SuperNova 1600 (any type) should be able to handle six cards pretty easily. However, the PSU itself only has nine VGA slots, so the maximum it can hold is four GPUs instead of six. - EVGA SuperNova 1300 Gold should be able to handle four cards pretty easily. However, the PSU itself only has six VGA slots, so the max it can hold is three GPUs instead of four. It looks like every PSU will be impacted by this as well...

Maybe NVidia wanted a way to limit cards for mining usage. If so, they found an effective way to do it.

Perhaps it would make more sense if you consider that NVIDIA recommends two separate connectors from the power supply when powering the 3080: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3080/?nvmid=systemcomp

That in itself is also a flaw for future mining then. Up until very recently, mining cards such as the 1080, 2070 Super, etc required either one 8-pin or one 8-pin+6-pin. Now that these beefier cards are cheap and make mining a good choice, it's time for a PSU manufacturer to make more VGA lanes available.
