Must have!

I've cross-posted this question, but will a 1000P2 be sufficient for handling the FTW3 or KPE 3090s?

Do we have a release date? Also, can I preorder? Is there a way to get notified  when it goes on sale? last one...is there a link to this cable? Thx!

Well, the recommended wattage is 750 watts for the FE 3090 and so far the highest TDP card shown is from Asus at 400 watts. So let's say EVGA also opens their card up to 400 watts, that would bring the recommended PSU up to 800 watts. Is 1000 more than 800? If yes, then you are okay UNLESS EVGA comes out with a monster 500+ watt TDP card then you may run into efficiency issues :)

EDIT: Seems likely for the KP card to be above 500 watts? Assuming you XOC it So maybe 1000 watt could be limiting if you have your processor overclocked to the moon as well. For the FTW3 though I doubt it'll be close to that

What is the length on this cable? I want to make sure I have plenty of room for cable management.

There will be other options as well. Seems custom cable makers are preparing to support the 12 pin connector sooner rather than later. I got confirmation from one supplier but don't want to name names.

Oh yeah for sure. This cable is not magic in any way :-)
It's just a new 12-pin connector and it being wired slightly differently.

All your regular sources for custom PSU cables are going to have something available in no time (assuming they can source the 12-pin connector).

Check out JayzTwoCents latest video on the 3080 unboxing. EVGA has sent him this cable and he features it in the video.

The nVidia-provided adapter is absolutely hideous, so I will be buying the adapter from EVGA should I get a FE card.

Jay did claim that it is cool we will have options for EVGA power supplies on day one so hopefully at the very least that means they will be available starting on 3080 launch day.

That would not be good considering we will have our cards and then have to wait for shipping on the cables. Not a huge deal, but I lost my second 8 pin connector and only have one :(

Not necessarily. If they are available the day of release, then you still have to wait for your 3080 to be delivered as well unless there is a pickup option for the FE cards. It would just mean you have to do cable routing the day of install.

These things will sell like hot cakes - I can imagine them being sold out for many months, particularly if they are compatible with non-EVGA PSU's. I recently purchased an EVGA 820 T2, haven't opened it yet.. :/

So try harder to get one on launch day :) and EVGA will not be the only option so don't be so doom and gloom about them not being available for months after. The 3080 itself might be sold out for months, but cables are not as difficult to make and keep in stock. It's still just power and ground fed from two cables into one cable.

Well here's hoping... just speaking from experience though. Hopefully EVGA is making a heap of them, since they are relatively cheap to make and clearly there will be an ongoing demand for them as the 12-pin becomes a new standard (assuming NVidia keeps pushing it). I'll certainly be trying to get one. It would be great if EVGA gave one out with every 3090 card they sell.

It'll all work out my friend. Even if you have to buy from somewhere else on release day. And thankfully very worst case we just tough it out with the included adapter or, something I was thinking of, is sleeving the included adapter so at least it matches my color scheme. That only requires a little finesse to make happen unless the cables are wired in a funky way. I ordered some paracord sleeving and a slimmer mini fit pin removal tool. We will see how it goes! :)

Definitely interested in getting one to go with my EVGA PSU.

Speaking of power, if we use the provided adapter would we need to have 2 separate cables going into 2 vga ports on the PSU and then plug them into the provided adapter?

All of these adapters and modular cables will require two dedicated 8-pin pci-e cables. So no splitting one 8-pin into 2 8-pins.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that EVGA uses the same pinout for all of their power supplies. So if I'm right, it should be fine.
