I own a EVGA 1000W P2.

I bought a 1600W EVGA Individually sleeved cable set on accident and was wondering if using the 1600W kit on my 1000W PSU will cause any issues.

I see that there is a kit for "450-1300 G2/G3/GP/GM/P2/PQ/T2" and there is a separate one for "1600w G2/P2/T2".

The former is what I should have bought, but I bought the latter...

Also, I am curious about what the difference between the two are.
There has to be a reason the 1600W is listed separately.
If the only difference is wire gauge, with 1600W being thicker to handle more wattage, i am guessing using a 1600W for the 1000W seems okay?
But not the other way around?

Please let me know if this will be an issue.
Thank you

The 1000W P2 and the 1600W P2 take the same cable sets..Scroll down and look in the Compatibility tab.

Listing the part number/s of the kit/s you're talking about might be helpful.

OK, that 100-G2-16KU-B9 (1600 G2/P2/T2 Blue/Black) cable set says it's only compatible with the 1600 G2/P2/T2 units..Looks like you should have ordered the 100-G2-13KU-B9 (450-1300 G2/G3/GP/GM/P2/PQ/T2 Blue/Black) cable set instead.

Yeah, I think I will call them.
I got the kit from Amazon and in the description it says "compatible with all G2P2T2 kits" but "recommended for 1600W"

Just got off the phone with a tech rep. He told me they are fully compatible. So I shouldn't expect any problems with them.

That's cool ..Was thinking that it was until I went to the cable set product page.

There's a little lack of information on the page of that 100-G2-16KU-B9 cable set..But yet, here in the FAQs they say that P/N is compatible with all B2/G2/P2/T2 and B3/G3 units.

Glad it worked out for you. Hopefully the cables are flexible enough since higher wattage cables can be thicker.

So, the main difference is that the 1600W cable versions were really the first revision of custom sleeved cables we made, so they have a lot more cables than you might use on lower wattage power supplies.  There are no structural or technical differences really between the older and newer cables sets, but the newer cable sets were designed for 1300W power supplies and lower, which will have fewer cables, same thing with the 850W and 650W options.  If you go with the 1600W versions, however, you may end up paying more for cables that you won't use, so just keep that in mind, but they are fully compatible with power supplies that use the same pinout.
