Patting myself on the back for adding the 3978 (3090 XC3 HYBRID) to my notification list two days ago. With the price hikes and the (relative) short queue, this might be the only card I have a real chance of seeing this month.

If you just signed up for the 3090 XC3 Hybrid last week, you may be waiting longer than this month...I hope not, but if past is precedent.... Best of luck!

No drops today. EVGA currently working on the backend to make sure their price grandfathering works for those in the queues prior to January 11, 2021. As a reminder re “Grandfathered” prices: If you registered (via the auto-notify button) for the North American queues prior to January 10, 2021, and purchase a 30 series card via the queues’ “drops” prior to April 16, 2021, the card’s price should be grandfathered to the 2020 prices. The price increases for 2021 are effective as of January 11, 2021. Tomorrow...same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.

What just happened to "RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA HYDRO COPPER GAMING". It's never been on sale, never had a queue, and price just went up $100? But it's still not on sale, and also has the disclaimer "This product is not currently available for the notify queue and we do not have an ETA at this time."
What's with the price hikes? Will it ever exist? I've been waiting for this one to replace my water cooled 1080Ti's but fear I'll just have to buy any 3080 to gut and EKWB. You're killing me smalls

The HCs have been delayed. Jacob tweeted earlier today that drops of the HCs will be at least a few more weeks away...so the delay is ongoing.

And as far as the price hikes, those are because of the tariffs that were imposed by the Trump administration in the US against Chinese products. All AIBs shipping cards into the US have had to raise their prices because of it.

From Trump's China trade tariffs back in 2017/2018. GPUs and motherboards were granted exclusions... which expired Dec 31st 2020.

That isn't completely true, I had information on this regarding tech companies and China is paying for most of the tariffs if not all; what is happening is those companies are passing it onto the consumer as they always do; therefore the site is misleading.

Why would China pay the tariffs for American companies? I find that a little strange and I can't find anything backing this claim. Here is a GamersNexus post from a couple of years ago going in depth about how this will effect product prices.

Yeah... That's not how tariffs work. As Chickdan said, tariffs are taxes that US companies pay on imported goods. That's like ... like saying Mexico will pay for the wall, which it hasn't and won't. The companies ARE passing the costs on to the customer, but that's kind of expected and how Trump's whiny tantrum where he imposed these tariffs shows how he has no f**king clue how economics works because I'm fairly sure that he said the China would pay for these tariffs too.

Tariffs are paid by the purchaser. Similar to duties placed on goods shipped from US > Canada. In this instance, the components are subject to additional tariffs on their value. EVGA (or other manufacturers that demand lower component pricing), in this instance is required to pay for their tariffs. They could, demand that the Chinese supplier lower their price so that they can maintain their price. But if EVGA (or other manufacturers that demand lower component pricing) does so, then other manufacturers willing to pass on the costs to consumers instead (i.e. ASUS, MSI, etc.), will have preferential access to said supply. As EVGA (or other manufacturers that demand lower component pricing) does not really have an alternative in the market (read: demand for these components far outstrips supply), the Chinese supplier will have no issue finding a substitute business to take on the lost allocation from EVGA (or other manufacturers that demand lower component pricing). Therefore, what the market instead does is raise the MSRP of their goods so that the cost of the tariff is baked into the price of the good. This is similar to a carbon tax on the price of gasoline. The raw oil exporter does not pay for the cost of the carbon tax, rather the distributor at the pump will pass the cost of the carbon tax on to the consumer. See: Your information is likely comes from some politically charged echo chamber. There is 0 evidence (anecdotal or actual) that Chinese suppliers (not China, as they do not manufacture these components), are baring the cost of these tariffs.

None have dropped yet this week, but there was some issue on the backend of EVGA's systems that was causing them problems trying to implement the grandfather pricing (respecting the fact that some folks have been waiting in the queue for a card since well before the higher prices due to the tariffs that are now in effect). But apparently they've fixed it and are ready to start doing drops again. Hopefully we'll see some hybrids, but there have been no promises, I think. Aside from Jacob saying last week that hybrids would be dropping this week, that is.

Smeeg699 nailed it. Jacob indicated in a tweet last week that Hybrids should drop to the queue this week. He did not specify which specific models. Hopefully EVGA resolved the grandfathered pricing issue yesterday and the drops will flow freely today.

This is speculation, but for the original launch of the Hybrids, HCs and the Kingpin, EVGA opened up for the auto-notify button only until they had fulfilled their expected number of units for the first or second material drop. For the Hybrids and HCs, that period was about 30 minutes of the button being live on the launch date. For the Kingpin, about 25 seconds. My speculation is that they changed it because they were getting a lot of complaints about long, unending, slow queues and were trying to avoid creating additional frustration for consumers. When they did that, a lot of people complained because they just wanted to get in the queue, etc. etc. When EVGA turned those buttons back on, they left them on. I would anticipate that when EVGA turns the buttons back on, they will remain on indefinitely. Unfortunately, given the delays on the HC, we have yet to see the button go live and stay live.
