nataku24 Greetings everyone, First off I want to give a big thank you to the various people in this thread who helped clarify and post a ton of valuable information on how to properly get to the magical 500w limit. With that said, I have a concern that I hope to get some feedback on. I recently got a replacement card (REV 1.0) however I noticed that my temps have gone up pretty significantly. My previous REV 0.1 card usually stayed within the 69-71c range when gaming. For reference, that is with the higher power limit bios installed but no overclock. Now with the new card it hits around 77-78c under the same exact conditions. To make matters worse when I OC the card and give it the full 500w power, it creeps to about 87-88c (with 90-100% fans). Is this normal behavior for these REV 1.0 cards? I have replaced the thermal paste as I figured maybe there was a factory defect on the paste but results stayed the same. Has anyone else experienced any increase in temps from swapping cards or do I possibly have a bad card?
Sorry to hear about the problems you are having. I had a rev 0.1 card which I sent on early May 2021 and a month+ later I got a rev 1.0 card which was stuck at stock clocks and whatever I did crapped out so I sent it back again and waited another month++ and got a decent rev 1.0 card. It's all posted here, also which BIOS has to be used to reach 500W and more valuable info. I have to say that both of my rev 1.0 cards were super cool with the stock cooler, a thing that I also posted and main reason why I didn't even bother to install the waterblock yet. As far as your problem if you already changed the thermal compound and/or replaced thermalpads can be the silicon, some GPUs and GDDR6X Chips (as all chips) are hotter, some are cooler, some use more volts and others less. If you are keeping this card I wouldn't spend any money on the hybrid cooler, from my experience it's not good, the best it's still a custom waterblock, specially the active ones. If you feel that can be a hardware issue (you can spot this using a thermal camera) then send it back. All the best, Sergio!

Thanks for the input, its greatly appreciated. I gave it a few days and it hits 80-81c stock which is now 10-11c above my last card. I will most likely return this one as well and hope that I can get a better one next time. Fingers crossed & best of luck to everyone else who is still trying to get a 1.0 unit as well!

All my ICX Sensors are gone except GPU one after installing Alphacool RTX 3090 FTW3 Waterblock, I did it because temperatures are getting higher here and the GPU was hot and so memory...GPU-Z keeps reporting except iCX PWR5 I tried a lot of things and nothing seems to work, I saw another post of a guy with a EK Waterblock that happened just the same. After some time GPU-Z crashes and saw some BSOD that I never seen before, in fact I don't recall having one since a year...all pointing "cannot allocate video memory". Can't believe this, it's my third card... This is what PX1 shows me now:

AlpAne Another short update. I have now managed to check the PWM controller without removing cooler, had to use a flashlight and magnifier, was really hard to see it through the cooling fins but after some effort I could identify that it was revised new NCP81610 PWM controller on my PCB. Also my new card has black lips as expected. I'm happy so far! :-) Only left to test the PCIe power draw and some OC performance. Will hopefully come back with test results in a couple of days.
Well done on spotting the PWM without pulling the cooler! Is anyone else with a replacement card able to verify this? AlpAne, how did you get on with the OC checks?

So for 3982 v1.0 black lipped card the 94.02.42.80.27 bios is best. What is the latest consensus on best bios for a red lipped v0.1 24G-P5-3987-KR if one were to stick with that due to silicon lottery luck?

So, I´ve just send them the email to get a rev 0.1 . How is the process? Edit: I have already gotten a response and I have been asked to pay for the shippping. As I live in the EU, isn´t this against the law? Should not evga pay for the shipping?

So question...I installed the 500W BIOS when I bought my RTX 3090 last year in November 2020. Do I need to update to a newer version of BIOS since then?

Good Morning Everyone (in Los Angeles) I got an pleasant email from EVGA today that I'am next in the queue and I can get a 3090 FTW3 Ultra. I have read some issues with power imbalance with the 3090 ftw3... Do you guys know if this has already been resolved with new cards? I am guessing I am getting the very latest version of the card with the black lips. Please advice, if I should order 3090 ftw3 or I should skip if issues are present. thank you!

The truth is luck bro 3 cards passed, last one is a nice card on water, but upon installing the waterblock one ICX Sensor got stucked at 374C a thing that's very common and I wasn't aware like mostly all our findings on these thread. The new PCB rev 1.0 cards do downlock with heavy load but not as much as PCB rev 0.1, if you put them on water and flash the correct VBIOS you will have a nice card, this is mine: This applies to all 2114 Serial Made In Taiwan not to the ones Made in China, some of those are better, some not. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/67925083? All the Best, Sergio!

EVGA_JacobF] EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 - Updated 4/5/21 with Resizable BAR Versions. Important: If your card ALREADY came with the XOC BIOS in the secondary position, do not apply these updates: NOTE: There are 2 BIOS's, one is for the BIOS when switched to the normal stock position, the other if switched to the OC position If you wish to go back to the Default BIOS you can find them below: EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA Default BIOS - BIOS 1 (Normal) | BIOS 2 (OC) EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 Default BIOS - BIOS 1 (Normal) | BIOS 2 (OC)
Question.. Do I need to move the switch to update that switch position specific bios? Example: I can only update OC bios in switch position 2... Or can I update both in position 1?

Good day. I have 3090 FTW3 ultra rev 0.1 card + waterblock + additional power to pcie slot on motherboard. Won't RMA my 3090 (another country, ages to ship etc...). With bios from 1st post in ths thread i get max. power draw around 450watts. Rebar is enabled. I tried 1000w kp bios (with rebar support), powerlimit 52-54%, max. power draw is around 520-530. In Port Royal and fire strike ultra gpu clock speeds are stable. But rebar isn't enabling, eth mining doesn't work. I tried modifed 520w kp bios (with rebar support), max. power draw is around 460-470, rebar isn't enabling, hash rate is slightly lower than on stock bios. Is it possible with rev 0.1 card to get max power draw around 490-500 watt with working rebar and working eth mining?

No idea about mining, but the XC3 VBIOS (with or without rebar) will let a power limited 0.1 revision 3090 draw ~500 watts as shown by a wattmeter.

They'll be wildly off since only two PCIE plugs will report anything, and those readings likely aren't very accurate.

reBar does work if you flash the newer 1kw bios, https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/235868/evga-rtx3090-24576-210329-1 And to get mining to work, you have to turn P2 state off using NvidiaProfileInspector. When you do this it will mine in P0 state. This will actually give a slightly higher hashrate with the same OC, but may be less stable too. This is why most of the time you can mine at a higher mem OC than you can game.

Hi guys, which is the latest rebar enabled bios working on 0.1 FTW3 Ultra ? What about the "V2" ftw3 ultra bioses on TPU, do they work on the first rev ? Thanks
