If you've already upgraded the firmware using PX1, a format won't help you. If I knew last night what I knew now, I would not have updated my 3090's firmware using PX1.

I use my aux fan for additional cooling. The latest MCU update that PX1 forces breaks the previous functionality. So, for me...I would not do it again if I could since you can't roll back the firmware PX1 installs.

If you don't need the aux fan and are okay with the other fan control changes, then it should be fine for you to update.

How do you validate which BIOS you have installed? I just enabled rebar and it wanted to modify my firmware. I am in normal mode, not OC mode with the vbios switch.

You can use GPU-Z or open the updater and it will show the current Bios version.

If you've already upgraded the firmware using PX1, a format won't help you. If I knew last night what I knew now, I would not have updated my 3090's firmware using PX1.

Fix your issue like this:

1) Uninstall PX1 (I usually reset PX1 overclock etc. all to default, before uninstalling)
2) Flash different BIOS, like XC3 (you will be prompted to reboot)
3) Install PX1 (older version)
4) PX1 will flash your FTW3 with XC3 firmware (Don't stress, your ARGB will look bad, as well as, you will see RED LED on your 1x 8-pin power connector)
5) Uninstall PX1 again
6) Flash correct FTW3 BIOS or XOC FTW3 BIOS (you will be prompted to reboot)
7) Install PX1 again, version of your choice
8) PX1 will flash your FTW3 with FTW3 firmware

I had to do this and all was well afterwards :)

And you're sure this won't negatively affect the card? Flashing the wrong BIOS intentionally sounds...like a bad idea?

It took several tries, but I got an XC3 BIOS installed. When I run PX1, I get this now:

"A system restart is needed to install the correct firmware update. Please reboot before proceeding."

But this comes up every time, even after a reboot.

Okay, I managed to the 3090FTW3U back on a BIOS that doesn't generate the above error in my previous post. I had to get one of the BIOS for this actual card model/version. So, thank you for your suggestion, but it did not work for me. PX1 wouldn't seem to install a different firmware for this card, even using another card's BIOS.

Yes, just use AB. If you want the REBAR VBIOS, use the flash tool in post 1 of this thread. If they don't work because you got a rev. 1.0 of the card (old version is rev 0.1), contact EVGA for the new flash tool.

You have to install a few versions back of PX1, after flashing the XC3 BIOS (try the first XC3 BIOS that came out or an old XC3 BIOS). I actually installed the first PX1 version supporting the 3090. Then after that install the next version of PX1 until PX1 updates the MCU firmware for your XC3 BIOS you flashed. Then flash back to the FTW3 BIOS, obviously uninstalling PX1 first. Then install the first version of PX1 supporting the 3090 again and after that each version that came out after that, until before the PX1 version that screwed things up.

Which XC3 BIOS did you use? I tried each one on Techpowerup and what I mentioned above happened with all 3 versions. I went back to PX1 version 1.1.7 because that was the last version that didn't have Re-BAR support and this bad MCU update.

I have the latest XOC bios dated - 4/5/21.

I set 118% for the Power target in Precision X1 and hit the max 498 Watts draw.

In order to go over the 100% power draw lock, you need to change that in Precision X1 as far as I know.

I have 3090 FTW3 Ultra converted to Hybrid with the kit.

Can you post your VBIOS version from Percision X1 please?

Mine is: 94.02.42.80.03 and the power limit only reaches 103% at max under load.

Re: EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 XOC BIOS BETA 2021/06/02 17:41:33 (permalink)
Hi there! I downloaded both the 3987K9402428027.exe file and the 3987_OC_500W.exe file and tried running both but they both give me the error below. "No display adapters were found that are compatible with this update."

I have attempted to run each of those files with the switch in the OC position as those are the OC BOISes. I also attempted to run the exe files as admin with no luck. When I run the file I hear the "device disconnected" sound that windows makes so that might hint at the problem.

I am indeed running a FTW3 Ultra. Below I have attached screen shots detailing the error message, my current bios version and my product number. Imgur album link JIC:

Please let me know what to do.

You likely have the 1.0 revision card, which Jacob even says isn't compatible in Post #1 of this thread.

Contact EVGA support for the appropriate executable.
