Is this a normal Coil Whine with the 970?

Or should I RMA it?

The tapping in the video is my mechanical keyboard tabbing to desktop and back into game to show when under load.

Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

EDIT:  I guess i cannot link youtube on the forums?

You can try a burn-in period and run Valley Benchmark for 24 hours to see if this eliminates the coil whine.

I did try that, I have been running the card for about 3ish weeks.  I just don't think that buzz with the tick after heavy load is supposed to happen.

You unfortunately need 10+ posts for links if I recall.

But from what I've heard, doing some [link=mailto:folding@home]folding@home[/link] or bench-marking can help alleviate the coil whine.

If it does get bad and annoying, I wouldn't hesitate to tell EVGA about it.

I will either find a way, or make one.

Yeah, its loud.  I can hear it through headphones and case closed.

I asked EVGA about it, and was told to talk to Amazon as I haven't passed a month yet.

I am RMAing it to Amazon and hoping to get a better card.

Good thing you bought it from Amazon and still within the return window (just easier to deal with over other e-tailers imo). You can't beat service like that, plus the free returns (maybe it's only a Prime thing, not sure).

Hope your next card is better!

Yeah they said they'll send me one with a return label to send this one back as well.  Pretty sweet deal.
    Thank you. :)
