Silverdoxxx In battlefield 3 i randomly got 19 fps.... after i updated the bios, i think am also getting less FPS.. these cards should only perform 5-10 fps less than a GTX 680, thats why i bought it. Any tips or reason why my FPS is fluctuating? you probably need to start a thread about that as you should not be dropping that low. when you start that thread you need to list all your specs in detail along with the exact settings you are using in the game. btw 5-10 fps is an arbitrary number. a stock gtx680 is about 10% faster than a stock gtx670 and clock for clock they are less than 5% apart overall.

eh, is this gonna stabilize my boost speeds on the FTW? out of the box boost speeds keeping going up and down. also notice if the card pulls like 1.175 volts in oc scanner tests fps drops by like 50(500ish) if volts 1.150 or lower the fps goes up by 50 (560 ish). in those tests and that is with a lower clock boost the higher clock boost with higher volt has lower fps. Meanwhile the Lower boost with lower volts is getting higher fps. generally in games when boost goes off it using 1.175volt and boost speed are just all over the place. Basically is this gona make my cards boost. Pick one number and use it instead of it being all over the place. This is all stock out of the box 670 ftw.. I dont OC anything Meaing Base clocks are 1006mhz and boost will be 1150 instead of boost being 1080 or 1125 or 1050 etc. If it picked on boost number and use that speed all the time and same volt all the time I would not mind, but this why i dont like boost Btw this card sure as hell dont stay under 70c under full 99%power load and 99% gpu load not under it own auto fan or the auto in precession x. and anything over 55% fan sound like jet engine turbine. Thought about getting AC twin turbo II to put on this but, I not sure if I keeping the card. I might just get 660ti if the price is right.

Hello everyone, I am one of those poor souls who owns an XPS 8300. I bought an EVGA GTX 670 FTW card in the hopes on playing more graphically demanding games and was really annoyed when my computer wouldn't recognise the card at all. Am I correct in believing that this update will fix my problem? Can anyone knowledgeable tell me what I need to do? From what I gather, I need to plug in the new card, start up the computer using a display plugged into the motherboard port (since I have no other cards and the GTX 670 isn't being recognised at all) then open the update file and it will work. Is it really that simple? Thank you for any help you can offer

Well I update and seem to have no issue tho my normal boost which is 1150 still seem to use 1.175 volts and according to evga oc scanner stress test. 1125~1150mhz Boost +1.175v= 500fps if it use a boost slightly low then 1100mhz it windup using 1.125 ~1.150volts which in turn give me 560 fps... Isnt boost supposed to give better performance not other way around? I still think boost should have static extra mhz that is used so 1006mhz when boost isnt used and 1150 when it is used not this dynamic up and down clock. it cant help studdering that for sure No game I tried keeps 1150 boost speed, it always constently going from 1006 to 1150 and between. maybe cause I use vsync I dont know.

core clock often gets stuck around 914MHz ... and often won't downclock resulting in idle gpu temps around 43C as opposed to 27C (with core downclocked properly to 302Mhz) ... this could be a driver issue however (running 304.79 beta here). a few people experiencing the same issue on different drivers: http://forums.evga.com...72&mpage=1#1707556 not to mention the aggressive core downclocking aka power throttling to maintain proper TDP under heavy load (part of "stability improvements") loosing over 100MHz sometimes during benchmarking in e.g. 3dmark11 ... seriously, I want the original BIOS to go back to. EDIT: seeing over 40MHz increase of minimum (throttled) core speed under 3dmark11 load with older BIOS (same clocks). new BIOS throttles down deeper than old one, so why would we want that if overclocks are same stable? too much core oscillation under load is not really something we want ...

Did you ever get it to work with your 8300? I have a MSI 670GTX and after multiple emailsto MSI support, MSI will not even consider offering a firmware update, they keep saying its up to Dell. Let me know your results, thank you.

I'm slightly confused here. I have the FTW. I don't have a dell and I don't overclock. My temps are stable at 67-68 under load and I'm not having any stability issues. Is there any benefit to me updating here?

I run update.exe (This process takes 13% of cpu time) and see this window over 20 minutes Is it normal? May i close this window and shutdown my PC? This process requires up to 30 minutes on my rig

I'm in the same situation. Decided that if it isn't broken... don't fix it. Not going to update.

Would this perchance fix an issue with my PC rebooting while gaming? Ever since getting this GTX 670 FTW my PC will spontaneously reboot while gaming. Doesn't happen all the time, maybe 1 - 3 times per week, some days or even weekends I can game all weekend no problem then suddenly happens. I bought a new Corsair HX850 power supply to see if that would fix it, didn't. I got rid of my old APC to see if it was the APC and that didn't fix it. I now have to think it must be the video card causing it. I used Driver Sweeper and removed the latest beta drivers I was using and reinstalled the latest WHQL and it didn't fix it. I ran memtest86+ on my RAM all night and it found no issues. Any ideas?

FOR THOSE WITH THE DELL XPS 8300. I can now confirm that the EVGA 670 GTX FTW does work with the bios update. History = have two Dell XPS 8300 i7, bought 2 MSI 670 GTX/OC. MSI refuses to provide a bios update so yesterday I purchased two EVGA 670 FTW from newegg and just got done updating both cards bios (both cards came with old bios) in a old computer and moved them to the 8300's. Both are working good so far in the Dell XPS 8300, so thank you EVGA for listening to your customers and providing this update.

Dierock I have the gtx 670 superclocked 2gb, I have to update the firmware? which use? Thank you. Obviously you should use "v80.04.31 02G-P4-2672-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 670 Superclocked"" under "EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB:". Or don't flash at all. Some ppl here seem to get problems. I backed up my original BIOS first and are now trying the new one. No issues so far. About the same 3DMark 11 score and same temps. My card is running quite hot at 79-80C, but I'm using a HTPC-case and have a ambient temp of 27-29C. Toasty! I have reseated the cooler twice (just to make sure I got it right) with AC MX-2 but the temps are about the same as with stock thermal grease.

Jacob, any chance of a similar update for GTX 690? At least for those people who gave up waiting for GTX 690 HC and purchased an EVGA card and an EVGA waterblock separately and would like to run the same clocks/bios GTX 690 HC does? Please?
Bump for this?

tsunami231 eh, is this gonna stabilize my boost speeds on the FTW? out of the box boost speeds keeping going up and down. also notice if the card pulls like 1.175 volts in oc scanner tests fps drops by like 50(500ish) if volts 1.150 or lower the fps goes up by 50 (560 ish). in those tests and that is with a lower clock boost the higher clock boost with higher volt has lower fps. I am right there with you dude. I HATE this boost clock crap, I mean in theory its good ya know. But when even with things set to maximum performance, if its not at a demanding point in a game the clock goes to 1006mhz, then some action hits and BAM fps drops until it has time to boost up to 1150 or whatever random number it decides it needs to go to LOL. I just with there was a way (that worked) that would make my card STAY at make boost during game play. I mean we should have that option you know? 400 bucks says so. But on another note, unless precision x decides "Hey, lets not load the fan profile while in the middle of BF3..." then my card never exceeds 60c, ever. and mine is set for 10% more fan speed than current temp so at 60c im at 70% fan speed and, to be honest, I can barely here the damn thing dude. there might be something wrong with the fan on your card. even when I manually turn it all the way up.

I apologize for my former uninformed posts regarding this GPU BIOS update. wanted to return the honors to EVGA for providing this update after all. why? because I have just realized that I cannot pass 3dmark Vantage with 670 oc'ed when running the stock/factory firmware (v19), because it would either RSOD after 15 secs into Scene #1 or would restart my whole system. This improved GPU BIOS (v31) allows me to successfully pass Vantage with no issues at same OC clocks. kudos to EVGA for making it available!
