Well reviewers are stating AIB's will not have cards till April-late May.  This sucks bad.

Yeah they are def not coming out march 10th. I want to kick myself for canceling my 2 FE pre-orders right about now, I saw FTW3 and canceled not knowing FTW3 isn't coming out till may. lol

I recently purchased a gtx 1080ftw2 --- now will this be eligible in the future to be bumped into the 1080ti ftw3? Can someone explain how this step up would work and if it's realistic (something done in the past?)

Normally, the Step Up program only involves FE or reference models.  From time to time (not often), EVGA "might" offer an SC model or the like...A step up from FTW2 to TI reference ICX is still a worthwhile move.  Should EVGA decide to offer a better than reference TI...is totally up to them.

For me, the reference card is more than enough as long as I can water cool it.  However, I've been thinking that maybe I'll try EVGA's Hydro Copper version Ti this go round.  It'll probably be awhile, so hopefully my patience don't run thin.

Nvidia knows and plays the game very well.  I gotta give it to them.  They get you folks hot and bothered and ready to explode at the 1st site of a new card.  Gotta give to them again.

I've been waiting for the Ti version to upgrade since the 1080 was announced last year. So yes they got me on the reel pretty good right now. lol

Yeah, I've been waiting also to complete my build (was going to do 2x 980Ti, but decided against that), but the model I want (Hydro Copper) won't be around for awhile.

My worry is not the May release as much as the supply. I'm worried they're going to sell out in minutes again and won't ship for weeks. I don't want to sell my 1080 FTW until the Ti is ready to ship to my house.

but to be able to step up to a 1080 ti FE, that's suppose than evga will release a 1080ti FE right ?
 
we cant stepup to a generic nvdia FE ?

All the pics I've seen show no DVI port, but there are adapters to go from HDMI to DVI to the monitors.

Not sure myself, that's just what I've been reading on forums.

No moderator or EVGA tech has answered this question directly because the information has not yet been allowed to be announced.

I'm hoping to step up from 1080 to 1080 ti I'd prefer stock/founders/whatever they call it edition becuase I'm going to put a waterblock on it anyways so I don't want a custom card.  Are you saying these won't be available until april or may?

AIB (Add In Board) Partner.  EVGA, Inno3d, Asus and others.

Ah so us clinging on to step up might get screwed.. although mine lasts pretty late in to april so might not be a big issue for me.

Would someone invent a keyboard with five or more F5 buttons please? 

I need a card late may/early april, so if no AIB Tis are available, I'll happily order a founders for $699 and add water block liquid cooling in the future once they're available for the Tis, which I'm assuming would add more effective cooling than any AIB model fans any way.

I hope EVGA can surprise us with cards being ready right away, but it is not looking good from what reviewers are saying.  I need more Folding @ Home  power.

There is allegedly a significant shortage of cards, so prepare to missing a 90 day deadline even from now on, probably most won't be able to buy even FE cards until may.

Not if you start the step up process before your time is up.
