For anyone thinking about going with SLI Ti's if I can do anything to change your mind I'd feel like I did you a service :) I personally have run SLI for around 4 years... My setups were as follows... 780Ti SLI, GTX 980 SLI, titanX Hybrid SLI, GTX 1080 SLI.... and I fully regret the 1080 SLI. All other setups I was actually very fond of dual card. 2015 especially was an incredible year for SLI. we had around 90% AAA SLI game support and it was beautiful.. then 2016 came and things slowly started to drop off, until finally the 10 series cards released and Nvidia officially did away with xx60 SLI support by shipping them without SLI fingers at all, and completely dropping support for anything above 2 cards. That was literally the beginning of the end in my eyes. In the months following, SLI support on AAA games pretty much completely evaporated. We're talking maybe 20-30% of games in 2016 ended up with SLI support. 2017 unfortunately has not started off with any sort of possible good news, with pretty much the same trend continuing. Weirdly enough, it seems to be Ubisoft of all companies who are continuing multi-gpu support, albeit not great support.. but still very odd.

Anyway, what Im trying to get at with that above paragraph is, if you are buying your GPU(s) for gaming, please for the love of God do not waste money on that second card. Its really hard for me to say that because ive been such a supporter of it for years. But I had to come to terms with the fact that even though it looks incredible in your system, and is total E-peen material, its just not worth it.. Not only is the support virtually non-existent but in a lot of cases it actually will cause problems in game and end up giving you NEGATIVE scaling. meaning you get less performance with a second card present in some games..

I know it looks amazing, but unless you have some other use for your GPU's than gaming... Just say no to that second card lol.

I can confirm all of this. Had 780 SLI, then 780 Ti SLI, now Titan X (Maxwell) SLI and I cannot wait to be done with it. The past year and a half has been abysmal for SLI support and scaling and all signs point to things being much much worse with the ongoing adoption of DX12. Cannot wait to dump my SLI setup for a single 1080 Ti.

SLI is amazing from a tech and a benchmarking perspective but for general gaming it's just not worth it anymore unless you're doing something utterly crazy like 5k gaming or multiple 4k displays.

definately noticed a lack of sli scaling recently as well or just non support as I watch my second card idle.  Luckily I do more than just gaming with my cards so 2nd card is put to good use.  I'm just probalby not even going to hook up the sli bridge this time around since the Ti should be able to handle anything I can throw at it on 1440 at 100+ fps.

Could someone from EVGA confirm this Card will have the same Formfactor as one of the following Cards? So i'll be able to use a XSPC Razor Waterblock on this...

XSPC lists the follwing Cards as compatible:

EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION 08G-P4-6180-KR
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 08G-P4-5180-KR
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 ACX 3.0 08G-P4-6181-KR
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition 08G-P4-6170-KR

New Setup:
LD V8 reversed Black/Red, Asus Rampage V Extreme, i7 5820K, (EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3? (2x)?)Corsair Vengeance LPX 4x8GB DDR4 2666, Corsair AX 1200, 2x Samsung 840 Pro 120GB in Raid 0

Old Setup:

Ftw cards never have the same form factor. They always upgrade the vrm at least. Do not order a block based on the reference board to go with a ftw board.

correct me if i'm wrong but as far as the reference boards go I though the 1080 TI reference has the same form factor as the Titan X-P, therefore none of the 1080 water blocks will be able to fit the 1080ti reference.

They said it had an adapter. It's still the standard nvidia port arrangement.

Ftw, ftw+, ftw2, ftw3, classified, and Kingpin all have different VRM sections every generation.

Ti has a whole different, and completely awesome gpu core :-D

Sorry, we hope to know more information about release on friday, the 10th. We do not know when the card will be out. Once it is out, usually on the evga product store or at newegg if it is in your region. If you are in Europe, i see a lot of people mentioning Scan.uk as a retailer.

I can't believe how excited I am about this.

This may be the series I finally go for the Hybrid if one comes out. Does the Hybrid usually lag behind in terms of release date?

So im kinda torn now...I waited almost a year to grab the 1080 for a decent price, and ended up buying an sc acx for a steal. $520 with the rebate, no tax/shipping (thank god for B&H), with that nvidia game deal they had...soo $460 if you subtracted the game. And then this damn thing comes along!

If there is a step up program for this, it would be say $700-$520...then add that wonderful California sales tax ($43) and shipping which is around $14...$237 Total.
That's assuming the card would actually be priced at 700..

Still cheaper than buying another 1080, but $237 for 35%......i wonder if evga would accept my left testicle as payment, don't really need to go sli on it anymore xD

Checking around...companies like Asus, Zotac and Gigabyte are listing the FE version, and Asus is showing two other models...but NONE of them has an option to pre-purchase nor do they list a price.  EVGA has posted the FTW3 teaser...so pretty much all Nvidia partners are in the same boat.  Until Nvidia gives the thumbs up to move forward...we are where we are.  Nothing can be listed for sale until the big N says so.  Only thing one can do is keep checking.

quick question for mods --

I recently purchased a gtx 1080ftw2 --- now will this be eligible in the future to be bumped into the 1080ti ftw3? Can someone explain how this step up would work and if it's realistic (something done in the past?)

Normally, the Step Up program only involves FE or reference models.  From time to time (not often), EVGA "might" offer an SC model or the like...A step up from FTW2 to TI reference ICX is still a worthwhile move.  Should EVGA decide to offer a better than reference TI...is totally up to them.
