What the heck is the FTW+? FTW with a backplate?

Where do you see this?

Edit: Nvm, 3GB version.. I don't think it has a backplate. The 6GB FTW doesn't even have one.

I think it's 6gb version for $320, regular FTW is $300

They must have just updated it because those weren't there earlier haha.

When i first saw ftw +, i think i must wait for it.then i realize that ftw+ is an interesting choice taken by evga to take more money from us for a backplate and minimum speed difference?maybe trying to equalize ftw+ price to other brands top 1060 cards.320-330 dollar is too much for me for a gtx1060.so i will not buy ftw or ftw+.sc or another brands custom card will be my choice.

I know my EVGA GTX 670 FTW card was unstable out of the box with the factory OC, underclocking it just -13MHz made it rock solid stable & I never bothered to RMA it. That is part of the reason I went with the standard EVGA GTX 1060 vs the SC version, thinking the only difference was in the firmware.

My GTX 1060 should be here tomorrow so I'll report back after I do a few tests. My case has good airflow but my room can get pretty hot at times, sometimes over 90F.

Update: The Non-SC version sucks, even if in a cooler room at 76F/24.4C still hits the 83C temp target while gaming, 89C when Precision X OC decides to random ignore the target temp http://forums.evga.com/GTX-1060-not-throttling-down-when-getting-to-the-temp-target-m2530949.aspx, even maxing out the fan can not bring it down and since newegg's return policy on it only allows replacing it with the same item if defective & EVGA's step-up program does not offer the SC version, I'm stuck with the card.

So I replaced the heatsink with a zotac heatsink I got on ebay for $13 with shipping.

With the fans maxed out now it runs at 66C while gaming, room temp 77F/25C at a higher clock speed from the lower temps. That is a 23C drop from the stock heatsink, plus the mosfets now have a fan directly above them & the memory chips are now cooled by the heatsink also.

It's a shame that the cooler sucks so much :(

How difficult was it to replace it? Does it just fit?

Not that difficult.
It just fits, it's from a GTX970. The only odd thing is the fans spin at 700RPM even at 0% then starts going up after 28% & maxes out at around 2450RPM.

Interesting. I have a broken EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST Superclocked, do you think the cooler would fit?

Where does it say the FTW+ has a backplate? I didn't see any mention of it on the info page.

Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060! 2016/08/19 12:56:31 (permalink)
Hi gents,

Does anyone know if the EK-FC970 GTX Waterblocks fit the 960 SC card? From the pictures V3DTech has just posted, the PCB layout looks "very" similar to what the EK Instructions refer to...

I have an nCase M1 which I am using with an EK D5 REVO Pump onto an ASRock X99-E ITX board, so the only Cards that will be able to fit are the Mini ITX length ones.

Additionally, the EK Compatibility chart for this block lists a number of the older EVGA 670 / 760 / 970 Cards as compatible, so I would be very grateful if any of the EVGA Reps (JacobF or RayH) can confirm the PCB Design layout for the 06G-P4-6163-KR card - in particular the GPU location and PCB holes for mounting points.

            Thanks in advance,

             Cheers,

              Bayern777

(For info, I have just received a Gigabyte GTX 1070 ITX OC which is currently the most powerful NV GPU on a compact card. However, the PCB design has an extended height to it, thus ensuring that you have no chance of getting Water-cooling Tubing past the top of it (particularly in an nCase!).)

Also would EVGA as a Company think of doing a compact 1070/1080/ (1080Ti) with an optional Waterblock available from the likes of EK?

I just received a 1060 SC and after less than an hour of tinkering I had mine running stable at a little over 2100 MHz.  I only had power at 110% and running at about 60 degrees and the fan wasn't even pegged.  I also am a bit of an amateur so the thing must be pretty stout.  That or I won the lottery.  The only concern I have about OC'ing the 1060 SC too far is just the 3+1 power supply.  Which is where the SSC (4+1) and the FTW editions (6+1) shine. They also have better coolers as well.  However, considering the price difference and what the SC can already do.  I'm not sure it's worth the increase in price.

Nowhere.they said ftw+ is coming.they said ftw has no backplate.i think existence of + version is speed and backplate.result no backplate.worse than i think.

I'm waiting to buy a GTX 1060 FTW. I wish the FTW+ model included a backplate, but it wont.
It says so in the chart below the GTX 1060 FTW+ product page.

Just from looking at the EVGA GTX 650 Ti board, it does not look like it would.

I was also looking at some from GTX 660 Ti, GTX 760, & other GTX 970 cards, plus aftermarket coolers. I don't like the aftermarket coolers because all of them I've seen take up 3 slots & I have a capture card in a x1 slot directly under the GTX 1060. So a aftermarket cooler would force me to move the capture card to a x16 slot.

I like this Zotac cooler because it has no model branding, so it does not say GTX 970 on it, all it says is Zotac.

Anyone have a idea why the fans spin now at 0% after changing the cooler? PWM issue with those fans? I would think at 0% it would shut the power off fully to the header.

Good morning,
If anyone can confirm that the EVGA GeForce 1060 GTX FTW GAMING ACX 3.0 or another card gtx 1060, has the 0db function with fans switched off, below a certain temperature.
Thank you, Sincerely.

06G-P4-6268-KR does support the 0db feature.

Hello everyone!!!

I also was not happy with the temps on this card.... always around 80C.... but it was the only card on stock by the time i bought it.
So i did a little research and found this cooler on aliexpress:

It was easy to install and now my temps are always bellow 55C.
Only drawback...the fans that came with it are not PWMs.

Thank you a lot dude!! i was just planing to ask what about cooling of  MOSFET/memory , coz I just ordered evga sc version.. And only disvantage that I read is that non memory cooling.. Can you give us egsact model of heatsink that you bought. And just my 2 c, in intel pentium times (pre 99 years) all temps under 90c were consider normal...

I recieved GTX 1060 (non SC) gamming as a RMA for my GTX 970 SC. Firstly I told to my self, ohh this card is beautifull, but when I started to use it the card reach 83-84C under full load. Ofc I stop everything, remove the cooler and the thermal grease was hard as rock. I`ve replace the termal paste and the card give me 78C, plus the card dont have VRM sinks. In this moment I`ve made a decision "Sorry for my words EVGA" but I`ll remove this little cooler from the card. And here are the result with little modded AC Accelero S3.

Now my card is cool and silent. I dont really get why evga made such a nice card, with that terrible cooler.

Hello all.
I just bought a 1060 to replace the defunct video board in my Mac Pro 4.1 because of what I read here...

But then, no matter what I try, the Mac just won't boot...no nothing, just a black screen...any hints?

Mac's are funny like that. generally you have to get a "MAC" edition card, something with the firmware is different.
