stereo55 This is good news for those that looking to grab a 780 (and at $550 price point) , but terrible for us that already own 780's and making our cards somewhat worthless (atleast from a resale stand point) . Looks like us current 780 owners just got screwed .
I think you should call Gigabyte C/S and complain.

If EVGA wants to do a 6gb 780 ti in May or June I will either be ecstatic or crushed... My step-up program eligibility expires is 60 days! :/

I'm least bothered with this 6GB vram announcement. But I do feel for the 4K & surround peeps. These line ups should have been announced at the launch, like they did when the 680 was announced. The 2GB version, ftw version & 4GB version were all announced at the launch, so ppl/buyer could decide either to get the 2GB version or wait out a bit longer for the 4gb version. It's sad to see buyers being manipulated by these type of hide-and-seek launches.

It's because it's not out yet so there is not part number. Wait until launch then the Stepup will be updated. You can't step up to something if it doesn't exist yet.

it's really not fair if someone complain about 6GB just because he want to have card with 6GB and don't need that. 2880 and 2304 CUDA for me is more important than 6GB. That hit everybody on any resolution in games after 2012. Example if I buy graphic card with nice OC GPU and Memory, nothing special, only simply nice... I would not risk even if EVGA give step-up on 6GB to cross on that. Because probably I will never need 4GB not 6GB. But to be honest this game is not fair at all special for people who really need not 6GB, they need probably about 4-5 for now. They talk about that before 4 months when manufacturers decide to go with 3GB even with most premium models. Jacob never sad We will not make 6GB, never, he say maybe Yes, maybe No. Maybe later, for now nothing. Waiting 6GB card again was not smart. Than all guilty is again on NVIDIA because she didn't give GTX780Ti as 6GB model. Price would be 850$ for GTX780Ti Classified and 950$ for K|NGP|N Classified and I would stay without Ti because I don't like reference cards anymore, but other people maybe could choose 6GB.

Some of you guys are having serious hemorrhoidal attacks for nothing. I'm not having any vram issues in surround and SLI at this point. If I went tri sli then maybe. If you have a very high resolution then my suggestion is nothing less than Ti's 6gb for SLI. At 1080p 6gb is a colossal waste.

sinisteragent Too bad I already have a 780...... With only 3GB of ram..... Fantastic waste of money if I would have known the 6 GB version was coming out I would have waited. WTH am I spose to do with this 780... Was going to sli now there is no point to even get another 3GB version. And or waste even MORE money on the 6GB version thats exactly the same as the one I have and cant use it with my existing card....
I would like to second this as a concern. Buying a GTX 780 with 3GB seems to be a waste of money.

So are those products listed on the qualify list not updated? I just got a 780ti Superclock and a 780 Superclock. Both are sealed as I was planning on building my new rig this week. Are they not eligible for this Step Up? I'm a bit confused on that matter. Are we allowed to jump from a 780ti Superclock to the 780ti 6GB version? Seems kinda odd if they don't allow that for this case since a lot of people have recently just purchased either a 780 or a 780ti. Hope we get a confirmation soon as I need to sell one of them.

It's a good thing they are releasing 6gb versions of the 780ti. The 3gb is bottlenecking my fps with 5760x1200 rez on bf4. I still average from 50-65fps (varies by map), but the memory will be very important in a couple of years. I am actually planning on "downgrading" my monitor setup to a single gaming monitor (with dual stacked monitors) due to many games not working well with surround. I'm considering the LG 34" 3440x1440, or the Asus ROG monitor with g-sync at 2560 x 1440. Otherwise, I would be all about selling my 780ti's and getting a 6gb ti version.

If people are silly enough to continue buying the repolished turds that NVidia keeps pooping out, why the heck would they release Maxwell? I love the idea of 6gb of Vram on a Classified, but There is NO WAY I am wasting any more money on this architecture after NVidia purposefully held off so that people would buy and then have to resell.. Eff Them... Big red, with its minor revamps and trying to impress the customer, is starting to look tempting for the next build just in hopes that NVidia will burn.

joelbenedict I have a GTX 780 Ti Classified. It's not listed on the eligible cards list. I bought it directly from EVGA. Is it eligible for the step-up program or not? I haven't seen benchmarks comparing the Titan Black vs 780 Ti Kingpin vs 6GB GTX 780. The current step-up appears to be for the non-Ti version of the 780, with 6GB as the differing feature.
I too have 2 780Ti Classified too. Do i have to wait for the that version to come out I have 60 days until my step-up ends too.

The real short end of the stick are the loyal EVGA customers that bought Titan cards in December. We paid full price $1150 for the cards at the end of the life cycle with no discount and many retailers pulled game promotions as the cards were in short supply. The cards are a complete dead end as they are not compatible with the titan black. Titan owners are not being offered a step up. Unlike obsolete EVGA cards that are still available 4 years later at big box stores the Titan supply was strained early December and exhausted early January. I can't even find a back plate. The reason I bought the Titan was for the 6Gb. Back in December I pointed out that 3Gb was on the way out. Some could see it coming some couldn't. I am just surprised that 6Gb has come so quickly. NVidia does not give things away so easily so that leads me to believe there is a catch in the form of shorter lifespan of 780 SLI on ultra enthusiast settings. I feel like I got triple @#$%^ by EVGA with the evbot, the nex1500 and now the titan going the way of the dodo bird all in one build. I understand that things get discontinued all the time but being a forum member it would be nice to get a heads up on the forum first. I have never seen a company run out of stock early December the way EVGA did this year.

Couldn't agree with you more.... I didn't pay a premium on a newly released video card so it can be replaced with a better and cheaper one 2-3 months later...

Interesting. I just acquired a 780gtx classified 3gb. The communication suggests that this new card is a base version with 6gb. I wonder if there will be a 6gb classified version, or whether the extra 3gb provides more performance than the classified's extra clock speed? Is upgrading from a classified even allowed in program? I chose the classified as it was on sale for basically the price of a regular 780.
The extra clock speed I suspect is always of value, however depending on the game and resolution you are trying to drive, extra gb's may not always be used?

Hi All, I just wanted to address a few questions in this thread. - Although the same chipset, you can upgrade from an EVGA GTX 780 3GB to an EVGA GTX 780 6GB (we normally don’t allow Step-Ups within the same chipset)
- If you go to http://www.evga.com/articles/00830/ and sign up to be notified and are within your 90 day Step-Up window, your Step-Up will be locked in regardless if availability and Step-Up starts after your 90 day window has passed!
Jacob will try to answer some of your other questions later today! I have updated the original post with this information as well. Thanks, Rob

That is the current target price of 6GB reference. Once the card is available at EVGA.com the final pricing will be listed there.

Someone just signed me up for the step up program without asking me first which is.... not very convenient. I just wanted to ask that if I have signed up and I am selected for the step up will I have to actually do it? I do not want to change my current card and had no intention of signing up in the first place. Thanks .

No you do not have to sign up once the card is released.

A couple of questions. Will there be a version we can step up to that has a dual bios? I have the 780 FTW and I mainly bought it for the dual BIOS. Secondly, I signed up to be notified with 2 days left in my step-up window. Once the step-up becomes available, how many days do I have to decide if I want to go through with the step-up? Also, before you had updated your post, I had emailed support about the 90-day window and got this as a response: "Hi, Unfortunately the program has the strict 90 day window. The announcement was made to let people know that it is coming and if they are within the proper window they have the change to step up to it. After the 90 days from purchase however that option is no longer available. I do apologize for any confusion about the program. Regards, EVGA" So which one is true? Is the support staff not yet privy to the exception?

HeavyHemi Same complaints every time a new model of GPU (or any other updated product) is released. You'd figure after a couple of centuries of the same pattern, folks would figure out the nature of the beast. Unless those complaining were effectively born yesterday, us veterans get it, or at least we should. I figure the Titan Z will take the top spot from Black thus the only reason a 6GB Ti would show up. But dayum!

You got EXACTLY what you paid for. Whether a product is new for 1 month or 1 year you paid for that same product and got it. You are not paying for it to be the newest. If you want the newest you pay again and again until you are satisfied (which will be never).
Couldn't agree with you more.... I didn't pay a premium on a newly released video card so it can be replaced with a better and cheaper one 2-3 months later...

rjohnson11 Actually in my personal opinion what would be nice is a 4GB GTX 780ti card to match more or less what AMD is offering for memory.
I would like to see 6gb's not only on the 780 vanilla, but on the 780 Classified too.
hell yeah man!!! I just recently purchased a GTX780-Classified card myself just last week, but I'm holding off on installing it, as i'll be getting a new PC case to put all the parts (and my new card) in. especially since I was given a free copy of the upcoming "Daylight" game just for buying the card.
