smbrm Interesting. I just acquired a 780gtx classified 3gb. The communication suggests that this new card is a base version with 6gb. I wonder if there will be a 6gb classified version, or whether the extra 3gb provides more performance than the classified's extra clock speed? Is upgrading from a classified even allowed in program? I chose the classified as it was on sale for basically the price of a regular 780.
Yes, you can upgrade from a Classified.
Wait, you can upgrade FROM a classified, but not to a classified, even if you are upgrading from a classified.. This is why I am not buying into the NVidia scam. EVGA said, flat out, there would be NO 6GB 780/780Ti... I understand that this is mostly NVidias fault, but EVGA isn't going to help the enthusiast customer that spent $1600-1900 in this situation.. THAT is a shame.. I have had my cards 3 months, and absolutely love them, but will not touch another EVGA or NVidia product, after this and the 750ti debacle, until full maxwell line up is released. I wish EVERYONE would follow that example, and FORCE NVidia to release Maxwell rather than the SAME REVAMPED GPU AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! This is a pathetic move from Nvidia.... Way to screw the customers who invested into something that will return Nothing now.

How reliable is this information about a 6G 780ti being released? I've seen this on a few sites and I'm a bit skeptical as this would seem to take some of the glory from the Titan Black.

when NVidia pulls its head out of it asterisk asterisk asterisk, I will buy into it again, but until the asterisk asterisk asterisk asterisk them. I won't support them when these cards die out. 1 750ti, 2 760 SC ACX, and 2 780ti classifieds... and they "had a major delay on the maxwell architecture... Basically, they see more money on the same crap, and they are going to rob the ignorant customers that won't refuse to buy into the stupidity.

I agree they are milking every last drop from the 700 series. These versions should have been released much much earlier which would have allowed various companies to release aftermarket cards, instead they have chosen to make everything obsolete within weeks of its release.

If EVGA allowed the Classified users to pay, say $175 plus shipping, to step-up their cards, I wouldn't even be too mad about that.. But no.. This is the "Enthusiast Level" where you pay to get screwed out of the step-ups when better stuff is released. Awesome deal there.. everyone below you gets treated while you get the awesome feeling of watching it happen :-) Gotta love that.

And what would be a fair assesment of how much I would have to pay extra approx? Thnx.

I ordered the backplate for my 780ti Classified. Can we get confirmation if the new card will fit the older backplate or if I need to return it? Also I'm kinda confused. People keep saying you cant step up from a classified. Just to clarify. Can I step up from a 780TI Classified 3GB to a 780TI Classified 6gb?

You can step up from classified.... But not to another classified. I mentioned something about classified users in a different tier in the step up forum, but got shot down and made fun of.

If I have a gtx 760 4gb SC w/ACX, is it really beneficial to step up to the 780 6gb? Does the 780 really perform that much better than the 760? I'm not so focused on the extra vram, as I think the 4gb I have now should be plenty for the foreseeable future.

Last I checked EVGA's policy is that you can only step-up to "vanilla" cards but considering that they are allowing a step-up from the same series 780 to 780 which is not normally allowed. You should be good on stepping up your classified card but likely only to a stock 780 Ti 6GB. Graphics Cards- EVGA will only release reference versions of its products, NVIDIA reference spec and clock, to the Step-Up program.
- Step-Up is limited to pre-approved graphics cards only and can only be used for exchange to a different and higher performing GPU.
- Products known to have a limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA.)
- Customers who received their EVGA graphics card as part of a complete computer system are not eligible - except for those listed on our approved system vendor list.
Graphics Cards Examples: - GTX 460 → GTX 580: YES (Upgraded GPU)
- GTX 460 768MB → GTX 460 1GB: NO (Same GPU)
- GTX 570 → GTX 480: NO (Must be GPU upgrade)

It would seem they are making special exceptions for these cards. Wouldn't it stand to reason that they may be stepping up the classifieds to a classified card.

One could only hope. As I said before, I would even pay around $150 per card if they would let me step up. They could sell mine on B-Stock for nearly that difference, and stand to lose Nothing. Will they do that? No, because if an enthusiast wants the 6gb. they will find a way... If that individual can't find a way, then he doesn't want it, obviously :-) EVGA, I would love for you to make me eat these words.

The entitlement in this thread...dayum. Haha. This is a nice program EVGA has put together - if you can take advantage of it - great - if not, no worries - just use eBay or something and dump your card and buy another one. You'll still likely pay very little. Nevermind that the move from 3GB to 6GB on GTX 780 will barely do anything for most users. You'd be better served going to a Ti or waiting until Maxwell, really.

Haha, I could not agree more. You would think after so long everyone would learn. Technology is always moving forward and it is hard to keep up, if you always want the best be prepared to PAY FOR IT! I am sure a few months after these 6GB card are released something better will pop up and everyone will be kicking themselves for not waiting. You know what happens if you keep waiting? You're stuck with an ancient card because something better is always around the corner. If you want to have the best hardware you are gonna need deep pockets or a horrible sense of money management. Just please stop whining every time something new comes out, that is just the way it works.

Zone15 A couple of questions. Will there be a version we can step up to that has a dual bios? I have the 780 FTW and I mainly bought it for the dual BIOS. Secondly, I signed up to be notified with 2 days left in my step-up window. Once the step-up becomes available, how many days do I have to decide if I want to go through with the step-up? Also, before you had updated your post, I had emailed support about the 90-day window and got this as a response: "Hi, Unfortunately the program has the strict 90 day window. The announcement was made to let people know that it is coming and if they are within the proper window they have the change to step up to it. After the 90 days from purchase however that option is no longer available. I do apologize for any confusion about the program. Regards, EVGA" So which one is true? Is the support staff not yet privy to the exception?
We made a change to the program to allow step up for anyone within 90 days. No plans for dual BIOS version at this time.

I really wish the step up program was longer than the 90 day window. I've got two GTX 580's I'd love to trade in. Even if there was a slight fee to do so, I'd pay for you guys to extend the step-up program.

That is not fair deal for EVGA, but would be fair for all side if customer of GTX780Ti 3GB Classified can step-up on GTX780Ti 6GB Classified and K|NGP|N owners to have option to step up on both if they want GTX780Ti 6GB Classified or GTX780Ti 6GB K|NGP|N Classified. I mean how someone bought 200$ cheaper version of GTX780Ti and than step-up on more memory and much advanced PCB.
