Could that be the monster that the prophecy foretold?
If so, why aren't they using a vapor chamber like the 5970 had? From what I can see through those fans it looks like a old heatpipe heatsink. I couldn't see any other reason it would need 3 fans.
It is probably moddeled off of the Arctic Accelero Xtreme Plus for the GTX 480 That cooled the GTX480 a hell of a lot better than the reference cooler. It was also a lot quieter. http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=618431

It'll be like the 295 was to the 285 and 275. Two 512 core 580 chips but with the memory of the 570. Maybe lower clocks to fit into power and TDP envelopes. 275 was 219 TDP like the 570 and they managed to make a dual GPU card with that by reducing clocks. It's definitely possible since a dual card doesn't use as much power as two single GPU cards because they share some components.

I'm thinking probably 2 560's, if we are lucky it might be 2 570's. Although that might be pushing it within the PCI-e specs.

That's not good if it's 2GB total. It'll limit performance with extreme res and settings. I was looking at the front shots posted earlier, but they aren't the same card.

hey guys, quick question for you I know SLI can run into complications with some games. Sometimes the driver doesn't support SLI. etc etc....now, does the dual GPU on single PCI-E version work better than single cards in SLI?

There's no way that a dual GTX560 is going to beat the AMD Antillies (dual 6970). 1 GB per GPU is also a serious limitation for a board primarily useful for surround and 3D. A monster ASUS Mars / Ares style card with two GTX580s and three 8-pin power connectors to feed them would be much more useful. I couldn't care less if it has to have a three slot footprint, as long as it is possible to discard the silly air cooler and put a waterblock on.

XrayMan manbearpig I've been reading that the dual GPU from Nvidia is ready but they are holding it back until they see ATI's dual GPU. Don't know if that's true or not though. Just like in the game of poker, neither side wants to show their hand too early. Both companies have been playing the game for awhile, and they both know how to play it well! ;) This means that Nvidia have hopefully been stockpiling chips for this new card ready to ship asap :D

http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=28325 Heres from Hexus. So is this really 2 x 460 ?!?! So only point with this card is to get surround setup with one card? And the card is huge. I mean HUGE.

Exciting it will be. :-) As long as it folds better than soon to arrive 580SC and costs roughly the same, i'll step-up. What worries me is that the author of that article says it will likely cost similar to a 580. I hope he meant to a 580 HC otherwise i'm going to be losing money by stepping 'up' hahaha.

There is no way you'd use that kind of VRM for GTX 460 chips, those must be the yet not launched 560s or you'd be doing much more than teasing with the card right now. Must be killing you to not be able to say anything, huh? :P

It is unlikely to be gtx580sli... it is more likely to be a gtx570sli given perfect scaling of 6900cards AMD still has a slight edge over nvidia in the possible multi gpu single cards even though single gpu crown belongs to nvidia.. My estimation is that 6990 will be faster than gtx595 considering 300w tdp cap. If the cap is ignored than 6970cf will beat gtx570sli down in most cases so AMD will win again most probably.. it has been over 1 year nvidia couldnt beat 5970. That is a fact gentlemen

Just in benchmarks (not gaming) the GTX 580 beat the HD5970 in a few of the newer benchmarks. So, despite it not being all teh benchmarks, and maybe nto all games, and the fact its a generation newer, it is still a single GPU card wrestling with the HD5970. Not bad considering.

That is a fact gentlemen Not quite a fact. The GTX 580 does beat the 5970 in some benchmarks. Let's also remember that the 5970 has been pushed to the limits for what drivers can do to improve its performance, while the GTX 580 is just warming up. Remember how well the 5870 and 5850 did compared to the GTX 470+480 at the 400 series launch? A few months later the 470 was beating the 5870 in various games. Wait a couple of months and we'll see how well the 5970 still stacks up against the 580. You must also take into consideration how well the GTX 400+500 series overclock. The clock speeds of the Radeon 6000 series are already so high that the overclock headroom is just better on the GTX 500 series. Will this translate to the dual GPU cards? Time will tell.
