If anyone has the card now, can they confirm if the radiator fan can be adjusted by the card? Or would you have to buy a different fan still and plug it into a controller?

Yes it can be controlled via EVGA Flow Control

Awesome, so you can set your own fan curve and everything for the fan on the radiator? It is a little annoying that you have to use more software to control it, but I guess it is worth it. I just asked a rep today in the EVGA live chat, and he said that the water cooler worked the same as on the SC2 and that you couldn't adjust it.

Yes, you can set a custom fan curve. It appears you can link two cards, and match the settings. I just started tinkering with it. The three fan sliders are only labeled G, P, and M. G and P can be interlocked

Re: 1080Ti FTW3 HYBRID coming in June 2017/07/23 13:10:48 (permalink)
Hi,

I'm hoping someone has some advice as I'm struggling on a decision here... I used to have a Gigabyte GTX1080 Waterforce Xtreme in February, which I enjoyed for a few weeks, but then Nvidia launched the 1080 Ti so decided to get rid and go back to old gtx780 whilst waiting for an AiO solution.

I saw and heard very good reviews on the EVGA Hybrids on the 1080 line and decided I'll wait for the 1080Ti SC2 Hybrid...

Only when that eventually became available over here in the UK there was already discussion on the fact you couldn't adjust fan curves on the radiator (something which the gigabyte could), also then the FTW3 Hybrid was being touted in this thread which I've been watching ever since.

Now Gigabyte have just released their 1080 Ti Waterforce AiO version, and I am really torn between the two.

On the one hand, I prefer the single radiator single fan cooling solution, less noise and less to go wrong, plus potentially higher default clocks (although not sure it makes that much diff) on the Gigabyte... The additional connections seem quite handy for future (VR) use too.

On the other hand, I keep hearing only good things about EVGA and their support (not that I should expect anything to go wrong with either card), and must admit I think I prefer the look of the EVGA tools for managing the card, and potentially it could be a little less expensive than the Gigabyte. Availability is the big problem though as Gigabyte has better availability in the UK (at the moment), so I have some time to decide it seems LOL.

I believe the fan curves can be adjusted on the FTW3 Hybrid, at least on the radiator fan - not sure about the power side fan???

Obviously there's going to be some bias here towards EVGA but am looking for any comments to help me decide :)

Kind regards,

Keith.

You will not be able to hear the Hybrid fan portion of the card, since it runs so slowly. As for the radiator fan, most people suggest just connecting a higher quality fan and running it through motherboard, and setting a fixed fan speed to keep it reasonably cool and quiet. Or you could use speedfan to map the radiator fan to GPU temps, depends on your goals and the radiator placement.

Gigabyte's card is 12+2 power phase. FTW3 HYBRID is 10+2. Did not know that. Can't find a price for it yet.

That depends if you're comparing Gigabyte's highest premium GPU.  I would have to compare it to the Kingpin if that is the case.

Kingpin is air cooled though, I'm looking for highest-end quieter water-cooled AIO solution. Now if a K|ngp|n HYBRID came along.....

Yes it can be controlled via EVGA Flow Control

Is this confirmed? I thought Flow Control was only for their EVGA CPU CLC products. If you aren't sure please don't state things like this since it would definitely influence purchasing decisions. If it is true, that's awesome. :)

Can someone confirm warranty at EVGA is three years? Is this extendable? I notice the Gigabyte card is four years.

Yes there is.  (Link)  It has to be purchased within a 90 day window from purchase date.  Just make sure you qualify first and foremost.

I heard that there will be a K|ngp|n with a water block but I'm not sure about the AIO. You could always custom loop but that would just get so pricey

KingPin was just released, it's actually still in stock (surprisingly) for US but I think I'll pass, hopefully EVGA can get US stock for the FTW3 now that the KingPin is out (if that may have affected stock for other 1080Tis? Idk)

It's a race between this and the Gigabyte 1080ti Waterforce Xtreme. Got a Rift arriving on Saturday, so first card available gets it. This has taken way too long. I won't wait like this again.
