Thanks for replying. I've received all the other emails fine, haven't changed it, just checked. When I go to 'view details' it shows an RMA number under Stepup I.D and says "Return Original Product to EVGA"
I've send support a ticket so hopefully they can sort it out.

Isn't the 3975 supposed to have a 33% higher power limit? My card is only showing +10 as the max.

10% is relative to your card's normal power limit, I think.

Exactly!

Power Target for the new SSC (3975) is 201W (100%) so it will go up to 225W (110%).

Part #:04G-P4-3978-KR
OPT – Optimized Power Target offers 33% more power over reference.
One available 8-pin PCI-E power connector and one available 6-pin PCI-E power connector

Interesting, 33% over reference? Reference goes 145W? 145W*1,33=192,85W
6 + 8 pin + motherboard PCI-E = 75W + 150W (really? Google says so) + 75W = 300W

What I'm not getting here?

Or is it reference tdp + 10% increase? 145*110%*133% = 159,5W*133%=212,135W

Where comes the 225W? And is google right about 8-pin connector and 150W?

The values I posted above are directly from the BIOS.

Don't know how evga marketing department does their calculation.

Can anyone with a new SSC tell me what their fans are doing when the GPU temp is below 60? Are they perfectly still or are they moving (very slightly) every 10-15 seconds? Sorry for the cross-post.

They do not move at all. All ACX 2.0 GPUs got this update.

You may find that they do a tiny little 'wiggle' every few seconds. They're off, but they keep thinking about spinning up. Seems to be driver related.

Are people still uncertain about the release date? Overclockers UK have it slated for January 30th.

I'll just leave this here https://twitter.com/EVGA_JacobF/status/553990628221009920 . Take from it what you will, but UK may have a later release as you mentioned.

Levifig mentioned this before me but I must have got caught in a discussion with RainStryke and didn't notice. Yep, either tomorrow or Friday (for the U.S. anyway) if Jacob meant "next week" as this week.

I feel like it's a Friday release (crossing my fingers), although it COULD be next week if we interpreted that wrong. Either way, I'm hyped!

I'm personally a bit disappointed with the New SSC Model.

I got mine yesterday and what can I say. The card still has massive coil whine(3975 release), it runs pretty warm 72 degrees in a Carbide Air 540 with 3x 120mm in front and 3x 140mm in top and back.

And when reaching around 1100rpm in the Fans, both fans are doing a humming sound. Power target in precision x and afterburner is still 110%(thought it would be 133% oo). Max stable boost clock is 1552 MHz. (+130mhz on precisionx). Asic quality is 69%.

So with all the major Upgrades to the previous Version...its still a bit underwhelming :/.

I'm not the only Person who is experiencing this with the New cards. Most people will send them back to replace them with MSI 4Gs....

Power Target at 100% is 201W now (resp. 222W at 110%) so evga did raise PT for the new card.

Otherwise I am also very pleased with my new SSC: It is very silent, no coil whine or any humming sound from the fans and it runs quite cool with custom fan curve (10% up to 50C; this prevents the card from heating up too fast and is still very silent).

Any speculation on the price of the FTW+? I'm about to pull the trigger on the new SSC 3975, but if it's pretty close in price, I'll wait until the FTW+ arrives.

Man, I really need this thing (FTW+)!!! I have a build they I sold my old GPUs (Asus 280X… the worst things ever–did it for the Doge; sold 2 cards for half what I paid for 1 about 9 months ago!!). So now, I have my 3930K rig sitting there, waiting for the FTW+… I was about to pull the trigger on the FTW when I heard about the FTW+ and wouldn't forgive myself if I had bought it (which is why I understand some of your frustrations).

Please, please, PLEASE: let it be today or tomorrow, and with *immediate* availability!!!! <3

Never heard the old saying " A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" ?

Naw can't blame ya, sounds like we are close to the + coming out. I got the FTW and must say though, if they do offer a step up to the new + for me, not sure I will take advantage of it. My FTW from all I can tell is performing really well, boosts to 1404 and runs there nicely, stays cool, etc...

While the newer FTW+ would certainly be nice to have, not sure bottom line performance wise I would really gain anything over the bird I have in the bush here...

Personally I feel that if EVGA allows recent 970 FTW owners (raises hand) to Step Up to the FTW+ then they'd pretty much blow any other manufacturer out of the water in terms of customer service and quality products.  If they do allow this for these cards, and any of you complain about this company in the future - you're full of 'it'.  Their customer service has already confirmed that they would allow me to RMA for coil whine (not all manufacturers do), and they have a Step Up program in place (I don't know of any other manufacturer that does) - so if they also then prevent 'buyers remorse' for recent GTX 970 purchases - they win, no question, period.  Why would anyone choose another manufacturer?

Sure, eventually another card manufacturer may have 'better' performance by a percentage point - but you wouldn't get this quality of service anywhere else.

That being said, I do hope they allow me to Step Up.  It would be a blessing.

Why is it so hard to give a damn release date?

This far into the game either you have couple thousand made and packaged or you don't. Your suppliers will have to have had orders by now if your going to release this month, so why not target a date. Sure you may miss it by a day or two but give a real target, and advertise it. Evga_jacobF twitter is a sad way to communicate corporate targets and goals.

I do appreciate the EVGA CES coverage was a great show for nvidia and evga.

Throw us a bone here though, cancelled my FTW order and have all my vendors searching SKUs not seeing much so ingram and some of the other suppliers arent SKUing up yet because they dont have the data yet. A release tomorrow doesnt seem likely.

Got tired of waiting for the FTW+.  Returned my two "old" SSCs 970s and got two Gigabyte G1 970s.  The G1 is better than my old SSC in every possible way.  They are faster, better OC, quiter, run cooler, came with backplate, and actually light up my EVGA Pro SLI bridge.

I really hope EVGA is stepping it up with the FTW+ like they appear to be.

I'm also waiting for the FTW+. I had my mind set on the SSC, but the fact that it's not on Amazon (UK) and its doesn't come with a backplate means I'm just gonna hold off and get the FTW+ (providing the price is reasonable). I've spent the last 3 weeks without a GPU now, fingers crossed they put it up on the store tomorrow.

I'm eyeing the G1 as well… I the FTW+ is not out this week and immediately available (aka I can order one tomorrow and get it early next week), I'm going with the Gigabyte… :X Never mind: just realized how freaking gorgeous the reference card is and that the Best Buy across the street has it *for immediate availability*. I'm going reference this time! :) <3

Meh, didn't want to wait any longer, plus EVGA has the 970 SSC 3975 model in stock. I wish EVGA would be a bit more transparent about a release date on the FTW+. Here's to hoping there aren't any snafus and I get the card in a timely manner.

At the end I'm not without PC and want only best for self, if need 2-3 weeks of waiting, no problem.

Agree, that's true for things that are guaranteed "best"… Not sure we can place the FTW+ on that category yet! ;) I sure hope it turns out to be but it's still early. To be honest, the reason why I'm leaning towards the reference card is because of the same reasons I want an FTW+: design, build quality, performance. The reference card looks better, has the cooling system of the Titan 980 and a matching build quality… From what I've been reading (only started research on this last night after posting that above), they seem to clock well, cool well (for a blow cooler), and the build quality is top-notch, using the same components has their big big brother Titan 980…

EVGA is still close to my heart and I'd love to compare the FTW+ to the reference card at some point… :)

The reference 970 doesn't use the titan cooler, it uses the 980 reference cooler which looks similar to the titan cooler but uses a heatpipe based heatsink instead of a vapor chamber heatsink that the titan had. The reference 970 also uses the 980 reference PCB and components, not the titan, but that's not a problem as the 980 reference is a well designed card unlike the original 4+2 phase EVGA 970s.
