Ranmacanada, I definitely agree with you. I have been watching the 1070/1080 stock on EVGA.com for a couple months. Not much to choose from. You can find them retail, but that doesn't help if you want to use your bucks.
I wouldn't mind an increase of 2 and 4 million.

Yes.  Stock would be awesome.  I personally think EVGA should be shooting for everyone to have a 1070 for folding numbers, and put it at 3M and 6M, as a 1070 is about 630k ppd vs a 970 which is 330ishk ppd (same score as a 1060).  It should always be a challenge and an incentive to upgrade :)  I would personally like a 1080 (700k-900k ppd), but EVGA only has the Hybrid in stock, which is too rich for my blood.

i would believe at this time of year they forgo their evga site sales such that their retailers will have stock as it think you are much more likely to get an impulse sell on retail. not a bad move i think considering how tight stock still is.

Second that motion -- 2M/4M per month. Plus, I'm thinking of getting an AMD 480X to try out on an FM2+ rig. It's in the same price range as an NVidia 1060, but the 480X looks promising.

Fool me once, shame on you.

Been waiting for stock for a long time as well now I will just hold off for when the 1080ti comes out and go ahead and get it with EK water blocks not going to wait on EVGA again.
I would rather have the EVGA version but life is short for me.

Re: EVGA Folding Year 9 2016/12/20 07:52:28 (permalink)
I discovered this program today and am considering it. However, I have some apprehension. Firstly, I don't think I can do 3 million a month. I started folding for Curecoin in early November and only have 3.5 million points so far. This has been on 3 computers, 2 old ones and my home gaming rig (AMD FX 8320 and AMD Radeon 390x). I only fold at night on these computers. I also discovered today that I can get both cureCoins and FoldingCoins at the same time. So I'm looking into that as well. It looks like eVGA is offering more money for points, if you count 1 eVGA buck as $1. Curecoin looks to be about a third of that, if you convert curecoins to dollars. Another problem for me is that eVGA only makes nvidia cards, and I prefer AMD hardware. It's a tough decision. Is there any way to check my PPD average for my account (all 3 computers?). I would consider doing it if I can easily make 3 million points/month with my current folding setup... it would be a shame though to have to switch to nvidia cards permanently though. :(

this is a real problem as AMD hardware is poorly optimized for folding. so if you are in it for the money and to help find a cure you must go to nvidia hardware. take a quick look here for GPU PPD numbers. just as an example the 1060 3GB can do ~325K PPD or ~9.7 million per month running 24/7, while only using 120W of power. the AMD equivalent is the RX 480 which is ~$10-20 more, ~100W higher power draw, AND does ~25k PPD less.

I'm actually not a big fan of nvidia's business policies, which I consider anti-consumer. Anyway, it looks like I'm only earning 2.5 million points a month. I think I'll stick with Curecoin (and try to add Foldingcoin to it as well). Thanks for the help!

Thanks I appreciate it. If I could earn points for AMD cards I would definitely do it.. but the way things are, I'll stick to my current setup. I figured out how to add FoldingCoins to my current CureCoin setup. I'm not sure how much I'm going to earn yet, but I'm interested to see what the results will be. Thanks again.

Re: EVGA Folding Year 9 2017/01/04 06:10:49 (permalink)
I just got back into folding as I picked up a good deal on a 970. It wasn't worth folding on a gts450 anymore. If it doubles to 6 million, I'll be out. I only have one PC and it can't fold 24 hours for 18-19 days to hit that mark.

Anybody with anything less than a 970 wouldnt make those points, which I think is a lot of people. I think EVGA knows that most mainstream cards will be around 2-4 million a month if running 24/7, probably a little less if it's an AMD mid tier.

So I say keep it the same. The whole point is to get average users folding and maybe a year's worth of bucks, they can do an upgrade and fold higher. And hopefully they get the folding bug and go crazy.

Welcome back nick1551

My EVGA 980 SC on air can ~500K PPD in an older X58 machine - set at full Folding, GPU at 1505 MHz, RAM +0

Your 970 should put up some nice PPD

Depending on work unit, I get anywhere from 250,000 ppd to 400,000 ppd on my 970FTW (with +50Mhz core OC & water cooling - bought partially with eVGA bucks from folding!!!), but usually I'm getting 3 mil in 10 days, 11 if I get too many slow WU's.   Did it in 9 days once when I got several of those 400,000 ppd WU's, and in 13 days once when I got almost all slow WU's.    It also folds at about $5 a month cheaper than the previous 660TI card that it replaced, so if needed to get full bucks it could fold 24/7/365.

Is the points check not working?  When I check in chrome it tells me it can not access the page, and Opera says the page is not working at all.

Re: EVGA Folding Year 9 2017/01/17 10:34:39 (permalink)
I second the "don't move / move very little" motion.  I've got a single 970 and at present it takes between 10 and 12 days folding 24/7 (depending on WU drops / point variances).  With nothing else on the horizon and the 10XX series remaining king for the next year, the point margins should stay until the next release drops around year 11.

Side thought:
In years past, moving from one X70 to the next gen X70 wasn't a big deal when the cards were priced reasonably around $300 to $350 with a $120 discount, but now you're lucky to find a 1070 for less than $430.  I understand the concept of inflation, but shouldn't the buck values also change to accommodate that?  It's a simple fact that my $120 folding bucks from Year 3 went a *lot* further than my folding bucks from year 9.

Don't take this the wrong way.... But be careful what you wish for... If you do raise the amounts I can see some of people on this team going to the bit com or bit cure (what ever #2 team is) ... Taking away from this teams totals and adding to the team behind us.... But in the end it's up to EVGA to choose....

Do not see our Team Members Running over to Curecoin but I have seen a lot of Curecoin Members move over to our Team.
I would however like to see a New Rule come out that you can only Fold Under One Team, I know this will spark a lot of comments.

Interesting rule. Wouldn't that exclude most members like yourself though? I see you dropped 8 units on curecoin's team in August 2014. Or would there need to be some sort of forgiveness period observed?

like me i have been a part of 5 folding teams and i left them cause of the lack of activity ,help ,rudeness and fighting with each other among other things , and i came here and this is where i have been most of my time folding now ,and this team so far hasn't had none of the issues i have mentioned, i just hate drama bullsh!t , but In my opinion i can fold when i need to cause now i have to pay for my electric now as b4 i didn't have to loll, so now it a little harder , but some people fold cause they want to fold , but some people fold for bucks  ,some fold for both , but then they say i cant fold cause its not worth the electric bill cause they not increasing the evga bucks ,wth does that have to do with evga buck think about that , its like a double standard ,there saying I'm not folding cause my bill, and you not giving me enough buck to fold lol , the evga bucks are nothing going to pay your bills anyway so why even say anything lol about your bills and the evga bucks in the same sentence lol

am i even making sense to people lol

No it would not, this is 2017 not 2014.
That was a test that Curecoin lied at the time and did not work, they where to be listed under our Team but it did not work.

I for one would fold no matter what one of my computers is down right now and it folds for another team if given an ultimatum on folding for only one team I would have to stop folding for EVGA and put all of my computers to the other team. Right now the highest ppd folding rig folds for EVGA and I do fold 24-7 as anyone can see looking at my stats.

My rule was to keep the current points needed without an increase for 2017 is all as to what ramcharger89 was saying about our team members leaving to go over to Curecoin or the current #2 Team.
What some are not thinking about is that if they do move over to Curecoin they would have to Fold 7x24 (Non-Stop) to see $10 a month.
But like I said above "I know this will spark a lot of comments"

I would never go over to Curecoin for any reason, I started folding for EVGA due to the many good people that fold for this team. The way they get along with each other was the determining factor not the
EVGA Bucks, then I found out about how EVGA backs the team and thought how great it was to help support them by purchasing EVGA graphic cards I had never owned an EVGA GPU until I started folding here.

at current production lvl, ~190 mppd, and current prices, .00004 BTC/Cure & 900 USD/BTC, 3 million points is worth about $4.25. so one would need to fold just over 2x as much for Cure to see the same return. so in that regard the required points for EVGA Bucks they can double it and they would still be equally valuable. but we all know how unstable, in both directions, crypto-currencies can be. BTC just spiked ~ $1200 USD only two weeks ago and Cure spiked to about .00046, about 10x its current sell rate, 4 months ago. so having $5 or $10 as factual currency instead of relying on market whims is very nice.

So then with 1 GTX 960 how long do you need in Total Hours for $10 a month?
And for 1 GTX 970 how long do you need in Total Hours for $10 a month?
But I also do not want to get to far off subject of EVGA Folding Year 9 or 10.

$10 in EVGA Bucks or Cure?
EVGA Buicks: 16.7 days and 8.7 days respectively to reach 3 million.
Curecoin at previously stated rates about 39.3 and 20.5 days respectively.

based on PPD values listed here: https://docs.google.com/s...U2bf0/pub?output=html#
