Ok, stupid question time; How does the EK reservoir go on the brackets exactly?

From the pictures it kinda looks like the brackets dont go around enough to clamp it down,
nor does it seem like its got any kind of strap or something to wrap around.
Surely there is no glue involved?

I want to use the EK D5 pump res combo with a 250 tube as suggested by someone earlier.
I just cant wrap my head around those brackets. :')

Also, is the pump noise something I should be worrying about?
Perhaps I should use rubber pads and small O-Rings to mount the C-brackets to the frame?

What would be the best watercooling setup for this case?
Is it worth bothering with push/pull if I go for dual 420 radiators?
I'm going to start with CPU, GPU, and Motherboard, with a second GPU down the line.

I'm also wondering if I should grab one of those EK 150mm res/pump combos,
or if I should sacrifice a HDD cage for a separate more fancy PWM pump.
Pressure is another thing I might have to watch for with such a large loop?

If you are only cooling a single gpu, mobo, and cpu a single 45mm thick 420mm long radiator is plenty. When adding the second gpu you may find you're pushing the limits of single 420mm radiator, if you are heavily overvlocked. if cooling isn't adequate I would probably add another 120mm to 280mm radiator to the loop at that point. As for push pull config the only time those are useful is when you under sized your radiator and the only way to cool it is with stupid levels of air flow.

So Chris21010 how would you setup your system?

So the C brackets have a small screw on the side that allows you to loosen or tighten the bracket it self, it mounts VERY nicely to the reservoir mount with the single screw but because EVGA put those flared pieces it really sits in there solid, once you mount the clip you basically just snap the reservoir in to them and tighten the little screw on the side to tighten it it will hold.

i would do just what i said you should do. get the 420x45mm radiator on top with three pulling fans. put the reservoir on the built in holder. put a pump in the drive cage. then loop pump->gpu->cpu->mobo->rad->res->pump. when adding a second GPU just add it between the pump and first gpu. if you find temps are not adequate because you are heavily overclocking and over volting your equipment only then would i think about adding something to the front. if you do not overclock then 420x45mm radiator will still be plenty for two gpu's, cpu, and mobo.

Hmm, so the res brackets encompass far enough to simply push fit the tube res?
The pictures led me to believe those clips didn't even make it past the halfway point.
I didn't see any tightening screws either so it made me wonder.
Is it secure enough to hold the pump and reservoir combo?
Should I be concerned about having zero dampening that way?

Because if at all possible, I would like to preserve the drive cages,
I wanted a 4-way 3Tb RAID5 in my machine. (9Tb + Parity safetynet)
And sticking HDDs behind the motherboard.. I got a feeling they'd cook up.

So only one radiator then? There is no merit in throwing in a second one?
I wanted to get two 420's in there so that, by my logic, it all could run more quiet.
Lower (or stopped) fan speed usually equates in it being quieter right?

Just a heads up if you want the pump combo's they only come with 150 mm reservoirs you would have to purchase the 250 reservoir separate unfortunately that's the only way to get that pump top that lets you connect it all as 1 unit

I am going to do another mock up today to check some things out I think if you did the one unit and you take off the pump mount bracket g
ood chance you can use one of the C clips on the pump itself and one on the reservoir and have a good mounting I will test it later and let you know what I find out

I found that out by contacting them asking why they only have small and medium combos.
The larger tube is only 16 bucks extra though, so still no manslaughter. ;)
The pump itself is a smaller diameter than the res I think,
but maybe the ring in the original bracket pops out?

well with two 420mm radiators you can be silent, nearly passive. if that is your goal it will get the job done. i was just going for a standard build approach.

So here is my EK pump without any mounting parts (ignore the pump top that is not what you get when you order the combo) mounted with reservoir C clips

As you can see it would work quite nice if that is the route you want to take (and a much simpler one i might add LOL)

Oho, thanks for showing!

It really just clips in there like the res? That looks rather nice if you ask me! :P
I wanted to stick an infinity mirror basement cover in my case, keeping the pump above would make that easy.
What do you guys think about pump noise if you go that route though?

I have not obviously started my system build (need more overtime!) but everything i read the D5 is pretty quiet and believe me i wish i went the combo route now and just spent the extra on a new reservoir the PIA buying extra fitting etc in order to mount the pump as i now have planned would have probably cancelled out and less headache :) You can even order a couple extra clips on EK's site if you do the 250 res (cause its BIG) and have 1 C on the pump and 2 on the reservoir just for added stability

Wait, did you all get the reservoir C clamps with the case?  I'm looking around and mine didn't come with any, even though now looking at all the DG-8 pictures EVGA put up, they are there.

No they came with my reservoir

The 45 mm rad depends on how you plan to cool and where your mounting it

I don't recall them saying that they were included I think they were just showing how they could be used to mount the reservoir on their bracket

If they are included with the EK res, no harm done I guess.
But the pump combo only comes with two brackets, right?

They show that they are included on the product features page though.

In these two pictures that EVGA made and is advertising on their product page, you can clearly see C clamps in the case.  If they were not to be included, they should state so.  Otherwise this is VERY misleading.  I thought we were getting C clamps with our case.  It states that we get a water cooling bracket, and the only images of the bracket on their product page shows it comes with C clamps.

Just checked, EK doesn't seem to include these clamps with the pump/res combo,
so ill have to fork out another 9 bucks to get the thing mounted up.

C'mon EVGA, is it really the time to be stingy when I'm buying a +200 dollar case from you?
Especially when all videos and pictures show the darn thing WITH the clamps installed..
Drive cages are not sold separately, right?

Only thing that makes me unhappy with the reservoir situation is that this almost seems to be partnership with EK. They designed the bracket specifically for the EK clamps. In my situation the supports that come with my Alphacool reservoir do not fit within the flanges that are on this bracket and there are only holes drilled inside the flanges. My options are to mod the bracket, or purchase EK clamps. Even though the clamps are for the same size tube, I don't know if they will support the weight and what not.

Though, on the bright side, since the bracket is removable it is just asking for a 3d printed or metal fabricated accessory to be made for the case.

Cant find a good shot or measurement of the alphacool bracket,
but I think it might fit directly onto the back plate if you remove the U-bracket and use its screw holes?

In any case, this is why you include brackets, EVGA. :')

That's a negative Ghost Rider...

The flanges make it difficult to fit any mount that is not EK or similar size. Also, with the Alphacool tube, the mount attaches at top and bottom of the cylinder so the mounting holes do not mount up.

I think it's pretty safe to say that unless you are using an EK reservoir, you will absolutely have to modify something if you want it to fit.  I have a Bitspower reservoir and I had to cut off .045" from each side of the clips to make it fit the EVGA bracket.

Great idea, XSPC Photon probably look very cool in DG-87.
Here is one more review if you didn't checked.
