Can one of the EVGA DC Captains please create one for us?

Keep in mind that it is a virtualbox project and is still going through some lumps with the work units. Keep an eye on it if you jump on early.

Edit: This laptop of mine takes ~72 hours to complete work units. https://climateathome.inf..._detail.php?hostid=379
This desktop seemed to have the same time limit https://climateathome.info/climateathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=563
not sure if scoring is accurate or consistent yet.

Maybe that is a way of saying Thank you?
You did get a task https://climateathome.info/climateathome/results.php?hostid=678
They show Tasks but I cannot get any. Maybe it does not support the RYZEN 7 1800X CPU.
I did get a task on my Intel Rig

They don't create very many tasks at a time. The admin typically makes about 600 at a time right now. I'm sure he will increase that once there is more demand. Post in the forum to let him know if you go very long without getting any.

Also, that is just how UotD tends to work. Especially at new or less popular projects. You can also increase your chance of being put up by editing your profile page from what I was told years ago. One of the non-important server bugs that nobody went back and fixed because the NSF funding didn't pay for fixing the bugs much. Just adding new (mostly broken) features. At least until it was deemed "good enough".

I did post this AMD Ryzen 7 1800X and asked about the CPU AMD Ryzen Threadripper as well.

Is BOINC saying it isn't supported in the Event log? I'm just wondering how you know it isn't supported as I do not have one. This is good info to have for sure.

I will look, but in a second when I ask for a task on my Intel Rig I got one.
The AMD rig sat for 2 hours getting nothing.

Well... if it supports Virtualization (which it does) it should be compatible. However, I have not attempted any on my AMD G34 yet. Matter of fact, I haven't attempted to download on any AMD yet. Let us know how that goes. Maybe I will fire the G34 cores back up for some testing. This heat has me running on minimal limits right now.

Looking at the top hosts, it is certainly dominated by Intels, but once you hit the 40's you start seeing some AMD.

https://climateathome.info/climateathome/top_hosts.php

Their server status page has been sitting on 10 work units to send for a while, so that isn't real reliable either.

Edit: And a Ryzen found here: https://climateathome.info/climateathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=584 It sits in spot 71 for RAC right now. My guess is that it is just timing for when work units are actually available to pull and when the rig checks in.

I found the problem as for some odd reason they set my Ryzen to use the Work Preference and I never set one up, I set one up and got a tasks.
Still the Ryzen is set to use the Default Preference of None same as my Intel Rig.
So I set up a Preference for all using the same data.

Glad you spotted the issue. My Intel box had pulled several the other night and ran it out of HDD space and caused some of my non-BOINC VM's to crash out. Some odd behavior but I reduced the number of active work units to get them finished. Gonna have to make an app_config I am afraid.

Keep an eye on Grid Computing Center (new home of GoofyxGrid). They just announced supporting a crypto currency which is in BETA right now for AMD cards

http://boinc.gridcomputingcenter.org/forum_thread.php?id=226

They are filling the gap that BitcoinUtopia is leaving with their potential shut down. Also, they are giving the option for users to actually have their own wallets. Details aren't ironed out yet but you would be "mining" XMR currency. If you do not have run BETA work turned on, you won't get the work units for now. But you may want to make changes for when the work units go live.

The Founder is still set to EVGA DC Captains  on the new site so no Founder changes are needed.

XMR Miner (GPU) Thanks, but not for me. This New Application is NOT the same as what BU was.
For one this new task is using only ATI Cards and no ASIC Devices. (Still this needs it's own Thread not under Crunching@EVGA)

But this Topic needs it's own Thread Now under Cryptocurrency Created Link Below.
XMR Miner (GPU) (beta test) *Part of Grid Computing Center - The New GoofyxGrid@Home

Sad to see BOINC Project Shut Down.

True it isn't ... YET. As stated in their forums, they plan on taking on the same role BU did. They also plan on more than AMD as the current app is in BETA. And since the project is an umbrella project and not just cryptocurrency, moving discussion of the project to another forum isn't necessary. More of a PSA so that crunchers weren't surprised.

For the Project XMR Miner it is for now until Our Team has reviewed it.
This Thread is about "EVGA DC Captains - Project Updates - Founders Changes" Updating the Founders on our Projects, so moving discussion really is needed.
Our Team Separated into Two Teams  Mining@EVGA a Mining Cryptocurrency Team and our Normal Team Crunching@EVGA
Mostly do to the Extreme Points that are granted for Mining Projects like BU.
But thank you for the information.

Re: EVGA DC Captains - Project Updates - Founders Changes 2017/06/14 10:37:04 (permalink)
I agree discussing the coins or how to maximize and such would need moved. Letting people know the project has made this change (especially without warning) that may affect users rigs because they may suddenly without warning start mining on their cards is not really off topic. It is a change people need to be aware of. Luckily it required people to have selected "run BETA applications" in order to have happened. Some may have done that when setting up the account.

The project itself isn't XMR miner. Just the sub project. Goofy work units still reside there as well. That makes it a dual topic. One of which applies to both sub forums and to neither. The discussion itself would determine the need. My post was to inform there was a change and that people needed to be aware to verify their settings to avoid surprises.

I like that EVGA shield, works for me.

New project, maybe we can make it a POTM.

You would need an ATI / AMD Graphic Card to run it.
I replaced my R9 290X with a pair of GTX 1080 Ti Graphics Cards this year.

If you all want me to design something, let me know. I'll be glad to help. I'm currently busy as all get out. Lifting my Jeep as well as replacing worn out parts, building a new 3D printer, cleaning up after winter, work is killing me etc. I'll take suggestions if you want to PM me so I don't lose them in the thread.
