dan go for it the p80 is a good case and the sr2 fits fine, i made a cross beam for the back end of the board cost me

5.00 -  alloy beam
5.00 -  small tap and die set
3.00 -  for bolts/nuts

i have v8 cooler if your using noctua push pull i think fit is fine as there alot of space, mine only gripe on the p80 is there no dual psu. but you can buy and atx psu etended mounting box and i think slide x2 psu'in may need another brace but looks very doable failing that turn atx psu on its side and cut hole in side for air again eay job, put a grill and dust filter on. your other option is to wait for an official case lian li v2120 or other long wait $$$. there are a few of us that are using the p80 i have no complaints from uprading from my old cosmos 1000 (sold it 90.00) so p80 only cost me 110.00

Hi rdtevga

Yeah I know about that Li Lian P80 but the problem is I'm pretty fussy...I don't like the top side panel! I wouldn't need a dual psu! I'm not keen to mod around it.

Guess I have to wait for coolermaster prototype or v2120. I want the case hassle-free!

First Post so be gentle.  Really interested in the SR-2 and like a lot of folks - wondering if it will fit my current case.  (i know it's not likely, but worth a shot)

Silverstone TJ07?  Mine is actually the Boreas MTEC - has only 3x5.25" bays w/ Boreas underneath.

I'll try to measure the depth (15" needed right?) when i get home, but figured you would know.

Thanks!

Another solution for compatible cases would be to wait for EVGA to start producing their prototype case. According to this article: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1324/1/, EVGA might produce a compatible case. I just don't understand why would they wait to produce it, when thwy could have launched it along with the mobo. Come on EVGA step up, you are losing a lot of customers. Same with the power supply, they haven't officially announced its availability for purchase. Also, Cooler Master might produce a neat case which will be compatible, just google "Cooler Master Prototype" and you will see some videos for it.

Another option is to go to Mountain Mods site and look at the Pinnacle 24 case. It looks more like a normal case, rather than those crazy looking monster cubes (i.e. Ascension). They have great services, such as acrylic panel etching, cases customizing, etc...  Check it out!!!!

My dream build:
Modular HTPX-SR2 Motherboard Assembly + Custom made aluminum case.
2x Intel Xeon X5680
Cooler Master HAF X case
48GB G.Skill Ripjaws Series RAM 9-9-9-24
SR-2 Classified PSU
3-way SLI EVGA GTX 480 Superclocked
3x 640GB WD Caviar Black
1x Intel 160GB SSD
2x Asus 24" Widescreen LCD

I imagine due to the cost of tooling up to make a case and based on the sales of the board the major case manufacturers have most probably deemed it unprofitable

I'm pretty sure this is a new Lian Li case that will support the SR-2. It was on display at Computex:

It's called the V2120.  This is a video of it with the SR2 installed:

Yep the PC-V2120 looks amazing, I might actually save up for one.  I'll make a few cable management holes in the MOBO tray and maybe add some top fans if it comes with none.  But why did they include only one standard PSU mount, unlike two PSU mounts like in the V2010?  Not a problem for me but many of you SR-2 guys will be using dual PSUs...

I also wish they kept the uni body design from the V2010, where the front, top and bottom of the case were made out of a single piece of aluminum.

How about at least a frickin window in the side ?

Any dates on this yet ?

Cooling wise I think the PC80 is still better (stack of fans on the front and top with vents)

That would be awesome, but I can live without one.  If FrozenCPU gets this case, they should have a custom window.  But I don't like what they do, I'd do it myself.

2010 I suppose.

I agree, but I would use an ear blasting loud 120mm x 38mm fan on the other side of the HDD cage on the top compartment to blow air towards my video card.  It would be great if I could get the Cooler Master HAF-X VGA air duct separately for this.  VGA cooling is my main concern.  Hell maybe I'll take out the other HDD cage on the bottom, cut a hole on the bottom and another one on the compartment separator for a push/pull 120mm fan setup like the Corsair Obsidian 800D/700D.  I'd also make plenty of cable management holes since I won't have an HPTX MOBO, just an ATX MOBO.

Took a look at Thermaltake's website and noticed this one has 10 expansion slots. Will it work with the SR-2 motherboard?

http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?S=1226&ID=1408

And if not that how about the Xaser VI series?

For those who want a look at a DD Tower 29 with an SR-2 you can check out my thread on my build that I'm working on.  http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=505186  I can hold a quad 140 Rad and a 360 Rad, but as of right now my build is just air.

My buddy and I have succesfully modded a Corsair Obsidian 700D / 800D chassis to fit the EVGA SR-2 Motherboard.

Please watch the video here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-iJHGZC3ZI

Also here is a picture:

After I get my SR-2 Dual 5680 4-way GTX480 build in there...we plan on selling the mod to customers.  More detail to come.  My build can be seen here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZRjj2-hQvs

Email me through here or YouTube if you are interested!

Ok, my buddy and I came up with the price:

The cost will be $600USD for the 700D modded.
The cost will be $675USD for the 800D modded.

Shipping will be paid by the buyer, so I will need your address and information on how you'd like it to be shipped.

Please send information to Trubyd44@aol.com
Please send payment through PayPal to Trubyd44@aol.com if interested.

Thanks,
Trubyd44

That is pretty close to the Lian Li V2120 price about $760AUD ($995NZ) shipped. I may well go for this case from NZ.

We haven't seen the left side panel yet.  There will be three versions though.  The PC-V2120A will be all silver, the PC-V2120B is the one pictured here, and the PC-V2120X will be all black.  An all black interior is pointless without a windowed side panel right?  One will probably be sold separately but I'm guessing that the PC-V2120X will have a windowed side panel.

If you buy the 800D it will come with the see through window.  If you buy the 700D it will just be a solid panel.  The case come complete, besides the modifications.

Re:EVGA Classified SR-2 Compatible Chassis' 2010/08/17 09:55:28 (permalink)
Hi All,

Any one can help to provide their opinion and experience for SR-2 ssytem setup.

below is my question...

If SR-2 only installed 2 or 3 way sli/crossfire, does the Lian Li PC-A71F chasis fit the system? the spec stated 390mm length so should able to install the motherboard?

regarding the chasis's 7 PCI slot, does it matching to the motherboard slot accordingly?

And the motherboard's stand off is matching to the PCB hole?
Appreciate your advice for helping setup another SR-2 system.
