It seems that the best option for me would to get the Modular HPTX-SR2 Motherboard tray assembly and just custom build the rest of the case out of aluminum. I know there are shops everywhere where they cut the aluminum to your specs and even cut special shapes into it (great idea for a side cover). I attached a sample of what can be done, obviously you could choose your own.

My dream build:
Modular HTPX-SR2 Motherboard Assembly + Custom made aluminum case.
2x Intel Xeon X5680
Cooler Master HAF X case
48GB G.Skill Ripjaws Series RAM 9-9-9-24
SR-2 Classified PSU
3-way SLI EVGA GTX 480 Superclocked
3x 640GB WD Caviar Black
1x Intel 160GB SSD
2x Asus 24" Widescreen LCD

case $400-500
Phone: 503-458-6548
ask for Debbi in the case department,

mention to her that u have the evga sr-2 and that youve spoke with jason (me) about my double wide sr2 case. i told her in the future, i may have other buddies to modify or order same exact case.

case holds 2x triple360/quad480 rads, 1x double rad

2x psu support, ALL SCREWS ON THIS CASE MATCH UP

2x or 1x 5.25" bays

create uber tramp stamp tribal graffiti ancient scripts design all over the case?? not a damn problem.

Could you supply me with the dimensions on your case. I really like this one and need so know the size since I am somewhat limited on what I could use.

Thanks!

Re:EVGA Classified SR-2 Compatible Chassis 2010/06/26 10:28:06 (permalink)
rdtevga - it comes with everything you need, but STARTS at $400+ also, they accept paypal so i believe u can email/call and setup shipping, they are really nice. Debbi is the truth.

raychem95 - height / width / depth is 22.5"/ 14.5"/ 20.8" - thats outside dimension, each acrylic panel is right under 1/2" inch.. they designed it specifically for the sr2 and also, if it is off by 1 or 2" inches, in whatever custom dimensions that doesnt fit your needs - no problem they'll design it..

i have a replacement front panel coming for 2x 480 rads, i ordered this originally to see if i can stand 2x 5.25" drive  bays... or no drive bays at all.

EDIT!!! i had JUST got the front panel this second, i thought fedex didnt deliver on saturdays? but fedex broman said they do. brb gonna install.

k heres the updated panel, it looks alot more cleaner and opens more airflow for both rads instead of forcing 2x 480 rads into the original frontpanel for 3x 360 rads

Tomorrow I'll start cutting and bending some sheet metal for my mod to try to accomodate a SR-2 in my cosmos 1000 :)

(except for the 10 PCIs, but I won't be needing that many cards anyway)

Okey guys, just letting you know that I got a SR-2 but the Lian Li A77F case will not fit, even though it does fit if the HDDs (with fan attched) removed first.

I would not recommend buying that case if you get SR-2. Look like I will sell it or happy to give it to my uncle cos I owned him some money!

Maybe! I'd need to know the measurements of the tray though... the plate that holds the pci cards looks very wide

hi why dont you try lian li p80 ive just ordered one, was going to by a custom job but by the time add panels bits oh and postage to the uk would see change out of £450-500 which is pathetic for a computer case so im starting off with lian and think it wont be to difficult to to mod it to take x2 psu im thinking of a psu mounted on its side on the door panel with a vent. also i could put plastic trunking on door panel to hide all the cables or extend them from what im told the p80 is big and im itching to have a go with my rotoblade/dremmel dohicky!

im sure others on the evga site havethe p80 with sr2 install so if your one of them please post your mods :) pics

One thing I have noticed is that the P80 has the drive cages faceing the Mobo (Yuck) but the new model that was just shown has the drive cages facing out the side.. Much better!  But I don' t know when that new model will be out!

Re:EVGA Classified SR-2 Compatible Chassis 2010/06/30 12:51:42 (permalink)
hi yep they do but afte i get board with the case its simple mod drill out rivets cut tray mount to alloy angle bar @ £5/meter. i was really worried about expansion of the p80b like it cant hold x2 psu but mine came today have already made alloy motherboard extension support beam for the  sr2 just waiting on my tap and die set do that on saturday board mounted. the so much space in the p80 i  sold my cosmos 1000 £95 (like new) paid £225 for p80 so im very pleased with it. And the best bit is the fans on the door, i have a raid array/box on the fron so its perfect.  I will put some pics of the mod up soon as there as others out there that have the same case + mobo. having the sr2 overhang and missing mounting holes aint good so want to do a good job. Will make a better version when i buy a proper bench vice as i did this with mole grips still looks like part of the case dont know why lian li didnt ship one :)

my next job may be to moung another psu behind the atx space very doable also there an external atx psu box for p80 (looks easy enough to make my own) or can go mount an additional psu on it side and vent through side door. again easy to install box rails, my method is to keep everything inside the case really so its neat secure and heavy.

would like to see others p80's have you done any mods for your sr2 setup only please :)

GoofyR

thenjwaslike

GoofyR - really nice case man!! i put another order in for the same case but a little taller and with all horizontal lines instead of DD 120mm grills =)

heres my other case -

thenjwaslike,

Dude I'm just glad I didn't buy a MM case.  This case looks so much cooler!  Cable management is a little tougher but nothing blackout tape cant fix. What color acrylic did you get?

i went with nightmare, black front and back but i left the back clear because i wanted the day light to shine thru the case from behind during the day lol

but man i had JUST got off the phone with Debbi from DD, literally submitted the order couple seconds ago, this time tho... i went with same front and black panels, 10 slot pci of course, and mounting for 2x quad rads in the front, also did a final twist to it - i made them do ALLL horizontal slots in place of their 120mm "DD grill"

similar to these 2 below but etched into the doublewide, keep it simple

Just a question: I am not sure if the front side have all horizontal lines (all holes?) and also at the back side, are there holes in 10 PCI's?

Will these dual noctua 14DH heatsink fits the tower 29?

Just thinking about buying this case.

Re:EVGA Classified SR-2 Compatible Chassis 2010/07/07 04:07:54 (permalink)
dan go for it the p80 is a good case and the sr2 fits fine, i made a cross beam for the back end of the board cost me

5.00 -  alloy beam
5.00 -  small tap and die set
3.00 -  for bolts/nuts

i have v8 cooler if your using noctua push pull i think fit is fine as there alot of space, mine only gripe on the p80 is there no dual psu. but you can buy and atx psu etended mounting box and i think slide x2 psu'in may need another brace but looks very doable failing that turn atx psu on its side and cut hole in side for air again eay job, put a grill and dust filter on. your other option is to wait for an official case lian li v2120 or other long wait $$$. there are a few of us that are using the p80 i have no complaints from uprading from my old cosmos 1000 (sold it 90.00) so p80 only cost me 110.00
