BTW - Still on P07 and everything works fine @ 3500MHz so no bios update for me.

Hi I need Help with the USB Flash method. My Problem is when I type in all the correct commands after booting to the program I get an error message to the effect that the correct file is not found. I have fallowed the instruction to the letter and typed in this exactly. ( adwflash NF79P10.bin / sn / cc / cd /wb ) and I get a missing file message and I know it's there so what do you think is wrong? Thanks.

I could not get the USB flash method to work either. So I ended up using a USB Floppy Drive instead.

Not that I know what I am doing when I overclock my machine but with P10 I hardly crash my machine! I can't remember when I had to reset the Bios to get the system back up and running like I did with P08.

your not the only one that has had problems with using a USB. I gave up and flashed it with a portable USB floppy drive. Which in principle is the same thing. I did not try using the floppy drive file. Maybe that will be named correctly.

I got this bios to install and run ok however im having trouble overclocking my 790i now. The voltages and clocks i once had (1700fsb and roughly 1600mhz ram) Dont seem to hold under what i had set when i was running the p06. Im still running a q6600 GO but i cant seem to get anything over 1375 fsb. Anyways. I know your not supposed to dish out the answers cause its cheating and i bought this board so i could learn it on my own but i dont have the time to do it. So can anyone point me in the right direction. All i find online is how to overclock intel chips released after the q6600.

@thunderhorse - Please start a new thread and fill out a BIOS template with your current settings and include your RAM recommended voltage.  Are you running 8GB of RAM or 4GB?  Additionally, your sig still shows BIOS version P06.

Re:EVGA 790i Ultra (NF79) - P10 BIOS Released 2011/03/26 22:43:33 (permalink)
Hi,
I am still stuck with the P06 bios and would like to upgrade to the P10.

As mentioned by some, the USB flash drive method does not work, so I will go for the CD method.

This is where I need help. I do not seem to be able to burn the ISO on the CD...
Alcohol120 tells me the N79P10.ISO file is not a right ISO format to be burnt on the CD.

I am probably missing something obvious...
Also, do I need to finalize the CD?
Does it need to be bootable? How do I do that?

Edit: Well..it seemed the problem was that I did not use IE to download the file...dumb dumb dumb!!

Problem is that the bios is not accepted in awdflash ..
"the programs part number does not match with..."
Current Bios is 12/12/08 132-ck-n79-6A61 MB02
tried AWDFlash with right syntax /sn / cc /cd /wb

tried uniflash2.0b05 -->
this one says bios seems to be protected but; there is no such thing in Bios settings or any Jumper on the board or is there !

i resettet the cmos via Jumper and software (uniflash)

the only method left is to Programm the SST-Flashrom with an external Progger ?

if your using this EVGA bios on a EVGA mobo you own call EVGA toll free support.

888.881.EVGA (3842) M-F between the hours of 9AM-5:30PM PST.

Forums is a secondary support forum ,if you want direct fast customer service calling direct is obliviously the optimal method as monitoring thousands of threads for particular questions is impossible for any company .
Also note The 790 is known to have major issues with OCZ memory since its launch. Its something on OCZ's side as a multitude of other vendors memory works just fine .Have you tried the other methods of flashing mentioned in the first post?I have done both USB and CD/DVD bios updates on the 790 with no issue.

strange i just got threw about 18 minutes ago no problem.Hope you registered it 30 days after you bought it so you can get free support. And these forums are by far better then any other GPU/mobo based forums around period.Even saying what you did shows you don't know much about EVGA to start with.

And its called a "telephone" .I hope you haven't been telling customers to call you on the telefone ,it would make you look silly.

Hi I've been getting lots of lockups lately with my 790i and tried updating the BIOS using a CD.
I am in AwardBIOS Flash Utility right now. but its been the same thing for a while now.
it says:
For 132-CK-NF79-6A61MB02C-000 Date: 09/10/2008
Flash Type-
File Name  to Program:

Message: Please Wait!

its been at that for the past ten minutes, I'm not sure if that is normal or not, but I will keep waiting because I'm afraid of ending the update prematurely and bricking the motherboard.

Welcome to the Forum, myoldid.

I have seen this many times before....you have a corrupted burn of the BIOS image on the CD. This will fix it for you: Download this program http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download and use it to burn your .iso file to a CD at the slowest burn speed available. Clear your CMOS before booting to the CD and running the update. When the update is finished, you will see a message saying it was successful. Good Luck!!

I got it working now. Everything appears to be working fine.
Hopefully this solves the random lockup issues I've been having since I upgraded my motherboard.

Re:EVGA 790i Ultra (NF79) - P10 BIOS Released 2011/06/16 09:04:46 (permalink)
JacobF, are there any plans for releasing 790 Ultra P11 BIOS with official support of dual channel DDR3 4GB sticks?

I think this BIOS might require some fine tuning for running such sticks with 1T command rate at high clocks above 1800MHz. seems the sticks can do that easily, but BIOS (memory controller) has some issues with running 1T CR above 1733MHz.

I am currently running 2x4GB Mushkin Enhanced Blackline sticks (996990 8GB kit) with CL8 timings (2T command rate) at 1.65V at 1800MHz.

On the other hand I can run the very same sticks, with the very same memory voltage at 1T command rate and CL7 timings (p1p2 enabled) up to 1733MHz ... but it seems I cannot run 1T above that speed no matter how I loosen the memory timings (tried up to CL9). It either won't boot or will insta-freeze.

Would be sweet if new BIOS version was released allowing wider memory compatibility at higher clocks and tighter memory settings!
