evga emailed me back and said that since the card still working on everything else, just steer clear of new world ATM with it. and wait for updates on the issue. so I guess if your card works still don't play new world until there is an update on cause or fix for issue

So if the issue is not happening only on New World but other games as well, that means there is something common that makes the card fail physically.
Which mean that there is something wrong on the hardware side.
I wonder if EVGA will actively recall the cards that are prone to failure.
Any idea if people are having the same bad solder issue right now, or if there are other physical symptoms ?

It JUST bricked my video card right now!
This graphics card is such a pile of garbage! How long is it taking people to get replacements? I use my computer for work.
The game was running fine for 3 days, long hours. But the moment I try turning down my graphics settings from Very High to Medium, it crashed. The second time I did it, just setting the Terrain to Low (everything else at Very High), and it crashed again. Only this time it wont come back on!
which card ?

Sell your replacement 3090 and buy a Asus strix 3090, and enjoy New World. It amazes me that some of you still thinks it's Amazon's New World fault, when EVGA has came out and admitted that it was a "poor soldering". It wouldn't surprise me if it was more than just that...

Because this card had no problems with other games so its the game too. And again... other cards have problems because of new world too now.

Yes, other cards have issues with New World, buy it's very minor issues. Go poke around in the other forums and you'll see. It's not just New World, Halo MCC or what ever, LOL, and some other game that's bricked EVGA 3090 FTW3s... New World was just the game that reached more EVGA 3090 users, the issue was already there, and New World was just the spark that lid the fuse....

Is there a way to set a global "safety" frame rate limit so that ANY game that tried to push extremely high framerate gets capped, like at 200FPS or something?

Well, wish I'd known.
I Installed New World late last night on my machine with 3090 FTW3 Ultra. Never even got logged in. I was in graphics setting at the boot screen and my card died. I saw this thread and went to bed. Guess I'll be troubleshooting and RMAing today.
Such Awesome.

well so much for this problem going away, another reason I run an undervolt when in any game, so sorry its back, looks like the official launch is affecting way more card now according to Jaystwocents.

Edit: I'm dumb, just realized this whole mess seems focused on 3090's. Still if my 3080 died while playing new world, I would be more suspect of New World and Amazon's Lumberyard engine than EVGA's card quality considering it handled the overnight burn in test I did easily. Just watched a video by JayzTwoCents about this. He showed a clip from a guy who had his system shut down while playing new world (fans went full blast, black screen, shut down). Then when he turns it back on, the card literally started smoking. It was not a EVGA card, it was a Zotac (looked like one of their nice SKU's as well). I have no interest in New World, but I got my EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra a few days ago. Ran MSI's Kombustor stress test over night which is basically furmak with a MSI watermark. GPU temp peaked at ~76c. If my card can handle that no problem and then got killed by playing new world, I'm gonna blame new world. But I trust EVGA's customer service if something goes wrong. According to Jay there are a lot of reports/posts going around about Gigabyte 3090's being killed by the game and people having a hard time getting a RMA from gigabyte. That's not something I'm worried about when it comes to EVGA.

Way things are I personally would not be running New World until vendors involved get to the bottom of this. It is just not worth it playing "Russian roulette" with your video card regardless of which card you own, especially when you know odds are already stacked against you. So I don't understand why people keep trying it.

Why people go to the casino? Same answer I believe. When you know just get reimbursed your game, and wait. Problem is people will look for a problem mostly when it happened, not before.

So youre saying EVGA, Zotac, and Gigabyte have something in common? I mean, these cards are like 90% similar, so it wouldnt surprise me if some of the other AIBs are bricking too. But EVGA seems to be leading the way, lol.

I like Kombustor and trust it more than a timespy loop; I have found 30 minutes in Kombustor is pretty much good for showing any signs of instability I have run a thirty minute loop of timespy successfully with an OC just to open Kombustor when the card was all heated up and crash within 5-10 seconds .

Just going to restate this: undervolting, underclocking, setting a frame rate limiter, it is not the same thing as REDUCING POWER LIMIT, if you are looking to reduce possible stress on the card. It also couldn't hurt to not use any memory overclock.

I have 0 issues with any games... and have not tried New World. Only issue I had was card crashing when I swapped between monitors during game play.. vbios upgrade fixed that (FF14). So my opinion... avoid New World.
I play: World of Warships, Warframe, FF14, Ghost Recon. Ok.. yeah they are not bleeding edge but no issues. I also have a red lipped 3090 from October 2020. I am sure its just waiting to go any second now.. thankfully warranty... extended for 5 years. I control 3 monitors and work occasionally from home on the rig. I do not have a spare GPU waiting to drop in if my GPU has to be replaced under warranty.
Not going to go buy an ASUS or whatever other brand card just to play New World. Also, while ASUS is a great brand I can tell you about the issues with X570 boards (required numerous bios updates tools a year to stabilize), I can also talk about how armory crate software messes with cpu stabilization and general system stability. So yeah just going to keep using my EVGA card and avoid games that blow up my gpu.

As I wait for my advanced RMA... My 3090 still functions after a New World failure, however the EVGA tech told me to RMA due to faulty hardware and my card belonging to the bad batch. I would suggest anyone here with an early run of the 3090 to test their card for weakness using New World. Your cards are still under warranty. Better to find the poor soldering issue now than later when some other new game comes along and your warranty is expired. The EVGA tech assured me that 3090s made after that batch do not have any issues running New World.

Keeping my fingers crossed my 3090 FTW3 Ultra replacement which should ship any day now, is not from that same batch. My defective one apparently is.

My Advanced RMA is showing 1-3 business days to ship my 3090 FTW3 Ultra replacement. I filed it with EVGA on Friday. I will be watching it like a hawk today lol.

I guess at this point, the common sense is to stay away from this game.
That`s true you might have a GPU with poor soldering in the MOSFET, for those cases, imo EVGA should try to identify those cards and try to reach the owners to offer RMA.
Anyway, you probably can survive a few weeks away from this game until more details comes to us.

Can someone please test Path of Exile (this is free) with unlocked FPS, max detail and GI/Shadows Quality set to "Ultra" and see if this game also causes problems?
Note: this is best done at 1080p. 1440p may be acceptable. 4k seems to put far lower load on internal rails.
