Yeah that sounds reasonable.  Intake top mount as described above, with a new case.
 
I was pricing out custom loop stuff and it would be like $600-700+ to get into a MO-RA3 and Heatkiller IV block setup.  With a single 480mm rad I got down to $500 but at that point you're talking similar radiator capacity to two AIO's.

That's pretty much what it is.  Spend much less for 10c-30c deltas or spend $500+ for a custom loop to aim for 5c-10c deltas and it only gets more expensive the closer you inch to ambient or sub for that matter.  Yeah its insane but AIO has come ways.  I hope they get more modular/universal like the G12 and be able to pick and choose what brand AIOs, rad size, fans, etc.  
 
If I ever ditch my custom cooling which has crossed my mind, I'm going all Corsair AIO iCue ecosystem.  Not sure if I'd sell my AQ6 XT. lol  I'm sure I'd keep my loop boxed up to the side if I ever get the itch or need to cool a quantum chip one day.

Hopefully with the 3070 out now we'll hear something soon about the hybrids. However I'll be pretty sad if they are released and we see people on the forums asking to buy the air coolers because getting a hybrid was faster.

Got my alert for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra....passed on it.  Going to consider a 3080 FTW3 HC or Hybrid, but likely wait for a 3080 Ti next year.  Would need to also upgrade monitor to justify upgrade, would like an LG OLED which ain't cheap.

Same. I'd rather have better cooling than a higher electricity bill and the basic fan array, given they'll even be available to purchase

Would love an update for this card and the price so that I can get my hands on it. Can we at least do a preorder queue or something for this card, since the 30 series cards are already released?

They already have a system setup, check out the posts about the auto notify queue.
Its basically just that, it no longer just notifies everyone, it sends a customized link to be able to buy it based off your position in the queue.
ie) they get 10 cards to sell, the first 10 people that got on the auto notify get an email saying its available, if they don't buy it within 8 hours, the next 10 people get emails etc etc.

they don't have a product page up for the hybrids, so there is no way to get in the queue... I'd love to be able to queue, but instead I have to check this thread all the time.

I did a funny: Ran 3DMark 06 just for the lulz on the 3080... not only did it outscore the last setup I remember running 3DMark06 on, despite the benchmark's antiquatedness... it also did it while not even spinning up the fans lol high GPU temp recorded during the benchmark was 30C :-D While pumping out north of 200FPS most of the way at the measly 1280x1024 resolution :-D I died a little.

I got the notification for 3090 ftw3 ultra but had to pass on it since what I really want is the hybrid.

Interesting that K|NGP|N may be coming out before these.

Gigabyte Hybrid cards have a history of QC issues, I would seriously scrutinize those before considering them if I were y'all.  It's a big difference in how the cooling works, a lot more "places" the card can leak etc, vs an eVGA Hybrid card, which is literally just a "CPU" AIO strapped to the GPU and then finstacks for the VRM & such that the on-card fan keeps cool.

What's going to be very interesting is seeing how the 240mm radiator on the 3080 Hybrid performs.

Yeah, I already have a FTW3, I just want a conversion kit.

I see Asus has shown their hybrid card too. Whichever one I can get first is what I'll be buying. I'm so sick of waiting :(

Will you give us a clear heads-up before these go live so some of us who are still trying can get in the queue?  I would prefer a hybrid card anyway, and could probably get lucky with one before my slot comes up for the standard cards.

Where? I only see their announcement for the AMD card Hybrid version? Do you have a link/more details on this?
 
If this card continues with the problems the FTW is having (see the XOC thread for details), I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase this card as it will be gimped against even its air-cooled competition. Hopefully the announcement of this card comes with some documented changes and that's part of what is taking so long.
