they don't have a product page up for the hybrids, so there is no way to get in the queue... I'd love to be able to queue, but instead I have to check this thread all the time.

Ah I'm in the queue for the ftw regular, I just plan to get one of the hybrid kits when they release.
It'll cost a little extra but I prefer to have both air and aio options available anyway.

A queue system for the Hybrids/HC at this point in time wouldn't make sense. At least not until more regular 3080s are sold. The reason being, people that enter the Hybrid ques might finally get an air cooled 3080 this week, and no longer need a prebuilt card, but the standalone instead. It would skew the 'preorder' numbers drastically. Their best bet is to wait till either more cards sell or wait for the release to approach.

This is a useful datapoint but the video itself is absolute rubbish.

Pushing fans 1100RPM.  Stock 3090 Strix (390w?)  Furmark.

120mm -> 66C
240mm -> 48C
360mm -> 44C

The 240mm Hybrid will work REALLY well on the 3080 with push pull fans.

Yeah the diminishing returns between 240 and 360 really drop off there.    So then how much cooler would a stock 3080 run compared to 3090 stock?   Math hurt brain ;_)

Consider these two delta-T's:

- GPU to coolant temp
- Coolant temp to ambient temp

Increasing the rad size is only going to do so much.   GPU to Coolant temp delta is probably like 10C under load, so the best they could do would be about 30C GPU in a 20C room with massive radiator and res (ambient coolant temp).  480mm rad about 39C, MO-RA3 360 about 34C.  IMHO.

The 240mm Hybrid on intake air with push pull fans should do about 45C-50C with a 450w FTW3.

I think I might try the Hybrid kit this time around. I'm a little worried about taking apart the GPU, but from what I've heard it looks more intimidating than it is in practice.

I haven't done one in a while but it was a 1070 FE when I did, it wasn't terrible. Ton of damn screws to take out.

Re: EVGA 30 Series HYBRID Updates 2020/10/27 21:41:16 (permalink)
It would be really nice to at least have EVGA include an optional cable adapter so we could tune the pump speed. Would be nice to have one already in the box so I don't have to go searching for the adapter that's made by some sketch company just to get the pump noises down to an acceptable level.

At least the 240 is good to have demoed by Linus recently. I'll be throwing the Noctua NF-A12's in push config into the rad and hopefully be swapping my Noctua industrial fans out for said rad fans as well. I've been really impressed with the performance so far using the A12 on the 120mm rad that's on the 2080 super hybrid I have now, and I can't wait to get the new card once stock gets a smidge better next month or so. (maybe?) The fans have needed an upgrade anyhow so I'm looking at a much quieter system overall once all of the parts come in and are all slapped together!

And just to ask, are they also going to release the hybrid kit for the 3070 as well? I never saw any direct confirmation as such so my friend will be excited to know!

The thermal putty Evga put on the 3000s cards this time is going to be a pain to remove/replace...

Only good thing about Cyberpunk 2077 getting delayed is we might actually be able to get one of these cards before it's out.

...if we're luckier than a four leafed clover lol.

Re: EVGA 30 Series HYBRID Updates 2020/10/28 08:39:17 (permalink)
I will definitely be purchasing a hybrid kit.  Even a slight improvement in temps would be worth it to me, since that will also come with a reduction in noise, and the 3080 ftw3 ultra is LOUD.  I'm not saying I miss my 1080ti hybrid (the 3000 series definitely rocks), but I do miss how quiet it was.

Another reason I'm more interested in the pre applied hybrid card. Don't want to deal with the putty.

Ah nice one thanks, no worries I'm sure I can track that down. I have a Fractal Nano S with a 280 in the front already.
120 at the back for the 1080ti hybrid was no problem but I guess the 240 will have to go on top...not sure if that's bad for the pump though? Should be alright I hope hahah!

Having it in top is actually good for the pump. You want the radiator over the pump on AIO's

So I have to check the 3080 page six times a day for the next four weeks.  Great.

I'm sure there will be an announcement on Twitter and on here from Jacob on when it will be posted. I imagine the info will be available the closer we get to it's actual release. So maybe in 2-3 weeks. Just follow Jacob on Twitter to get all the latest.

It's actually a great placement for the pump. The AIOs are never filled to the top, leaving some room for expansion and gasses internaly when it heats up.  You want to position the AIOs where the rad usually sits higher than the pump head/block so all the air gets trapped in the radiator which top AIO/Hybrid installations allow.  Even if it's in the front, you'll want the tubing coming and going from the bottom of the rad, not top.

Great breakdown and explanation by Gamers Nexus in the video below:

I wonder if there will be any RGB whatsoever. I'll be converting my FTW3 into a hybrid and I'll be giving up that beautiful RGB light bar EVGA made.

I'm thinking about a Fractal mesh S2 or Lian Li Lancool mesh with a CLC280 front mount and 3080 (probably Ti/Super) Hybrid top mount, both intaking with push pull fans.

I've asked Jacob about this and he said it would be different but there would still be RGB on it. Not sure how much since the renders don't show any.

I would hope it would have some
RGB since it can look really good and the cards have the header on them so it makes sense to do RGB to me.

I'm not a fan of 140mm AIOs since I feel the 120mms have better rad fans all around.  Sure, you get tad more heat surface but I feel the fan is more important as well but to each their own at the end of the day.  Plus, 140mm use up any wiggle room you'd have with a 120mm installed.

As for push and pull, can't go wrong with that.  Aren't you the one that 'tuned up' their 2000 series hybrid and good great temps on the 120mm?  If so, I believe it was Noctua A12s in P/P but can't recall if it was you or someone else. lol!

It's actually a great placement for the pump. The AIOs are never filled to the top, leaving some room for expansion and gasses internally when it heats up.

I'm thinking about a Fractal mesh S2 or Lian Li Lancool mesh with a CLC280 front mount and 3080 (probably Ti/Super) Hybrid top mount, both intaking with push pull fans.

If so, I believe it was Noctua A12s in P/P but can't recall if it was you or someone else. lol!

Hey yeah I've got a quad of A12's.  I'm thinking them on the hybrid rad top mount intake and using the stock case fans (pull) with the CLC280 (fans push) front intake for CPU AIO.  I could get the Lian-Li and CLC280 for under $250.

When it releases in mid/late November

So I have to check the 3080 page six times a day for the next four weeks.  Great.

Now I'm on the hunt for a 3080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid since it's rumored and there's the 6900XT to compete with.  I'm OK with Q1 2021.
