Would be nice if the Hybrid's faceplate, or even the radiator fan was RGB lit as well - seems a shame only the FTW has that treatment...

I agree. Maybe the EVGA & Hybrid lettering on the top were the hoses exit could light up? It would be a nice subtle touch.

I'm eagerly anticipating the news. I saw the tweet where he had a HoF (?) in his hand with a Hybrid just casually on the bottom left of the picture. I know this is not popular opinion but I've decided to sell one of my 980 ti hybrids to a friend and will probably dish the newer one off on r/hardwareswap and get the 1080 hybrid. I'm a major fan of the hybrid line and I just do not care for sli. I've tried and tried and I get 60+ fps in Witcher 3 at 4k but there is stuttering and there are games that don't support it. Even games like Assassins Creed Syndicate don't do fantastic at 1440 maxed in sli, so I just need to cut my losses and get this beautiful piece of hardware.

There is no better version than the Hybrid version. If you like low temps, no noise, and good overclocks then that's the card for you. The 980 ti hybrid is just a great card and I expect the 1080 hybrid to be the same.

CoercionShaman I'm hoping to eventually see a hybrid that covers the VRMs in addition the to the GPU. Maybe this time?
This is a bit late but wanted to add something... specifically in regards to the VRM cooling abilities of the Hybrid design... A good while back I installed two of the EVGA Hybrid coolers on my dual GTX 980's and have been simply amazed at how well they perform: max at mid 50's in *everything* ... 1500mhz core overclock all day long ... near totally silent ... And since the VRM cooling plate remains on the card and the stock "blower" fan is still functional, I still see a very good cooling circumstance for the VRM IC's being adequately cooled... When doing load tests with the "blower" fan engaged at around 40% speed, the air coming out of the back of the card(s) is consistently at around 100F ... this is damn good. The air coming out of the radiator(s) is also about 100F ... so not only is the pump/radiator doing a great job of cooling the main GPU die ... but the stock "blower" fan, in combination with the stock cooling plate is also doing a fine job of cooling the memory chips ... In fact, when installing the Hybrid coolers ... I placed some copper sinks on the cooling plate over both main areas where the VRM's reside and perhaps this is helping ... not sure ... but I know the VRMs are getting cooled very well simply by measuring the temperature of the air coming out of the back of the case ... Here's a pic of how my cards are configured: ... ... And believe it or now, squeezing two into a Corsair 600T works remarkably well in the following config ... the cables are quite long and quite flexible so opening the case to clean, etc. is easy as all get out. And I've seen no performance drop from the hoses being "snaked" like that ... And when working at load, this thing is a COMPLETE space heater in my 13'x13' room ... LOL ... so much hot air coming out the side and back of the case as it's nearly hard to believe ... ... ... (I used fan grills because I cut all the metal mesh out of the side panel where the two radiator fans exhaust air ... both to increase air flow and because the perforated grill can make a whining noise if the air flow is high enough) ... Just some random info ... joel

are they intakes or exhaust? i dont know what it was, but i couldn't get 2 980ti's to stay under 65 in my case (storm scout 2 pictured on last page). the bottom one ran cooler, i think high 50's low 60's. its rad was mounted to the front of the case as exhaust i believe. the top cards rad was mounted on the back/rear panel as exhaust as well, but was in the mid 70's. touching the card/backplate/rad/hoses was difficult because how hot they were. i thought the hybrid kit was faulty and had it exchanged. the new kit pretty much ran about the same if i remember correctly. (i ended up selling one of the 980ti's). i did notice changing the top/rear rad to an intake helped A LOT, but i expected both to run in the 50's like yours. i had a 295x2 before, so (2) 290 gpus going through a single 120mm rad, and it ran more efficient then the (2) 980tis on their own rads. now i only run a single 980ti, with the rad still in the front of the case, not sure if i changed the direction of the fan, cant remember. either way, it runs in the 50's by itself just fine. i am eager to try a sli hybrid setup again. pretty much decided on a 1080 setup, but i always have that though.... maybe i should wait for the 1080ti!

Any ETA? This silence is seriously starting to make me consider the MSI Seahawk. I obviously prefer EVGA because my last 3 cards have been EVGA cards, but I'm really not digging this cloak and dagger crap.

EVGA really aren't known for blogging about release dates, or making "we have listened" articles about their products. Most likely we won't see the 1080 Hybrid or Classified before August, at least.

Both of my Hybrids are *exhausting* air out of the computer. Load temps always maxing around 55C in any game . .. joel

It's been said numerous times now that the ETA is early July. You can see that in one of the earlier posts of this very thread.

this would be a bad idea in my opinion. because you would be putting a water cooler on the reference design, vs if you buy the actual hybrid you are getting a better board since it uses the FTW edition board. so you are basically getting a water cooled FTW vs getting a water cooled reference.

Im new to this site, but I have lurked on this site for a little while now. There was a struggle for me between the Fury X and 980ti hybrid, but the 980ti hybrid costs almost the same as 1080 hybrid I wanted to get a strong and low temp gpu that was with pascal architecture. I have eyeballed the 1080 seahawk for a while due its design that features black and white. Most of my hw is black and white aswell so I unintentionally got that theme going on. One thing I didnt like about 980ti seahawk was the fact that it had blue LED lights on fan and thats a no go for me. I dunno how the 1080 seahawk is gonna be. Both models had slightly transparent/translucent? fan blades so if seahawk is color LED fan I will skip on it. Now for the evga 1080 hybrid, I read that 980ti hybrid was 10 C cooler than seahawk model and that is very impressive. I would imagine that the 1080 hybrid is almost the same cooling and therefore much better than 1080 seahawk. Then I saw something on on evga site that the evga 1080 hybrid took 2.5 pcie slot which means I cant use the first 3 pcie slots and therefore losing 1 slot, anyone know if this is true. Because I really dont want a gpu that takes over 2 pcie slots, that is the limit for me. But if the 1080 hybrid takes 2 slots I will cancel my seahawk and wait for the hybrid.

we will know ones its released late June. P.S. the EVGA was 10degree cooler because if im not mistaken the sea hawk comes pre-overclocked while the evga u need to manual overclock it. EVGA Hybrid can be OC higher than the sea hawk too

you are indeed correct but, i am waiting on the price to see what i will do, if the hybrid is more than 100bucks expensive i'd prob get the reference and a h60 because well, for some reason i feel like the ftw board vs the reference ones i try overclocking it as high and stable as posible i'd prob have 5 fps difference lol

ohh ok. That explains it why the hybrids are cooler than seahawks.Im not gonna OC the gpu so I dont really care for that, but I do however want the coolest gpu out of those two. I might cancel the seahawk and wait for the hybrid myself,I just hope it wont get much more expensive than seahawk.

EVGA Hybrid can be OC higher than the sea hawk too
ohh ok. That explains it why the hybrids are cooler than seahawks.Im not gonna OC the gpu so I dont really care for that, but I do however want the coolest gpu out of those two. I might cancel the seahawk and wait for the hybrid myself,I just hope it wont get much more expensive than seahawk.
where did u buy the seahawk 1080? Because i couldnt find any on the market. Well if you are not gonna worry about OCi'd still say keep the sea hawk because eve tho it comes pre-overclocked due watercooled it will stay cool and you will not feel any throttling at all like those ****ty founders edition cards are having atm. That sea hawk on full load would reach around 65degree while it needs to reach75 to 80 degree to start throttling..(i think)

DJViking I need a new card soon. I must be AIO water cooled. So if EVGA does not release their 1080 Hybrid soon I have to take my money to a different brand.
Really, Like Who? It was EVGA that created the Hybrid.
i think he meant another company that sells them. For example Phanteks or EKWB installed blocks on the founders/custom 1080's and he just have to apply the loops. Or go buy the MSI Seahawk 1080 lol

but the seahawk is still just a reference board. not worth it in my opinion. you cant be in that bad of a hurry for a card that you cant wait a month for a much better card.
