PasTecHi
InvidiaSuperbia Not entirely sure why the Hybrid wouldn't be out soon, I mean they are selling Hybrid kits already so one would think they are just prepping enough for a big shipment, but what do I know
Maybe because they want to finish of the ftw's thats still on demand(out of stock for those who pre-ordered probably)..all im saying is by July 29 when i get my new mastercard and that hybrid isnt up for sale or out of stock im buying something else.
Probably in your best interest to go ahead and already get a different brand then, I mean this trend is going to continue until Nvidia gets their stuff together and starts producing/distributing a decent amount of chips to their partners, that or enough people get done buying the new cards. If your'e going EVGA because the brand is good and customer service, then I would say either wait on their Hybrid when you CAN get one, or make your own via kit.

i dont think they are the same thing though. as in. yes, if you had a reference 1080 you could get a "reference" hybrid kit. but the actual 1080 hybrid will be different. look up the picture of the 1080 hybrid kit on evga site. then look up the pics of the evga 1080 hybrid. the hybrid kits are different, even though they are both for evga 1080 cards. the actual 1080 hybrid has an after market fan, looks better. the hybrid kit is basically just a reference fan design (same as the 980ti hybrid coolers). this makes sense since the actual 1080 hybrid is based on the FTW card. what i am getting at: 1080 hybrid > reference 1080 with reference hybrid kit

They are different, the current existing kit is for reference style boards. The one we're all waiting for IS the FTW custom PCB board hybrid.

Unless you plan on modifying the second BIOS, they will literally manually clock the same (outside of silicon lottery) and get similar temps, so the only difference is really what ? aesthetics ? the fact you have to actually put one together yourself ? obviously a Hybrid is the better choice as it is put together from the company themselves, so it is warrantied that way, I was merely offering a solution to an impatient person is all.

I think the reason why everyone wants the FTW PCB is because of the second bios...with the idea that someone will find a way to override/workaround nvidia's voltage lock, enabling a different vbios to be written, and thus achieving higher overclocks. If this is in fact the case or at all possible, then the liquid cooled option is probably going to be the card that handles the increased heat by upping voltage the best, in keeping a stable overclock. (of course factoring in silicon lottery--if I understand this all correctly, I'm sure someone else here knows a lot more than I do.) I would've considered Gigabyte's option originally even though the aesthetic matches nothing in my rig, but if I can't replace the fan...well, I don't trust stock fans on anything, terrible experiences, and I will not cut/remove solder on an 800.00 product and void warranty.

Pretty much this. Every 1080 review I have seen puts all the cards within margin of error of each other. At this point it's go with colors, fans, and brand you fancy.

I have a question. I have purchase allot of evga items but via amazon so i know amazon puts my items in a well protected package to prevent damages while shipping. Since i use a forwarded to send it from the u.s. to my country would be great if the item is well sealed in a package. Anyone here purchased items directly from evga can tell me how their shipping package is? Do you just get the item you ordered or do u get it sealed into a protection package like amazon does? So i'd know if ill order the 1080 via this site or just wait till amazon has some in stock?

I would hope/assume it's going to use the FTW because if they didn't and people found out(and they would) it would be a sh*t storm for EVGA to handle.

Everything I have ever ordered directly from eVGA has come in a larger box with some of the large pocket bubble wrap, much like Amazon.

Thinking about Jacob's words in past days: if I'm not wrong, he said Hybrid would be available one week before Classified. So, if Classy will be out probably next week, hopefully Hybrid should be available in store starting this week. Is it impossible?

Yes it's impossible. Yesterday he answered 'soon' when asked about availability. If it was this week or even next he would say 'within the next week' or 'by the end of next week'. Since he said neither and only offered 'soon', you should expect end of the month at the earliest.

Comeone EVGA, tomorrow is 15 juli (Mid Juli) give us final update if you going to release it or not. I'm sure delaying it will make alot of fans mad who have been waiting this long and this will cause you to lose customers.

You know tbh, even if evga lose some customers for some reason, if the hybrids come out next month for example they will still get sold out :s Its bad that they are delaying this for so long but at the same hand if they get released after July 29 would be good for me too...Thats the day i get my new mastercard and can actually order my card :')

Honestly, chances of snagging a Gigabyte today are probably slim to none. Gigabyte is probably only releasing a limited quantity and they will be gone quickly, so in all likelihood that puts us back here playing the waiting game once again. I'm waiting until "soon" turns into August.

It is limited quantity on the gigabyte. Got my 970 back from rma so at least I have a card now. But will still be trying for any hybrid and grab whichever brand I can first.

sadly, most of us will miss out on the Gigabyte, then 2 weeks later miss out on the first batch or 2 of the EVGA cards. meaning we will still be here in mid august trying to get a 1080 hybrid, lol

I finished my build on May 31, it only lacks of VGA. Waiting for this card, like probably everyone in this thread, since that day.
