I really wish I wouldnt have to post this but I do. There are a few threads on it already but they're old and has no real information.

I got 4 days left to use my Step Up and I'm going for a 1080. I'm using a Fractal Nano case so I would like a blower. And so, ofcourse, my eyes fell upon the elusive 08G-P4-5180-KR
It's cheaper than an FE and would hopefully offer better thermals. But does it even exist? I legit can't find any reviews or even real world pictures outside of evga renders.

I guess what I'm asking is if theres even any point in trying to step up to that model and potentially wait a lifetime or just bite the bullet and go for the ACX3 which I atleast know exist even if its not in stoeck either atm.

Thoughts fellas? =]
Peace!

I was curious as well when i performed my step up few months back. I havent found any useful information either. I ended up getting the ACX thru step up and sold it for a second FE model. Not sure how EVGA blower 1080 is, but I have no issues with my FE, other than the premium price tag. But after seeing all these reviews and problems with some 1080 models and no issues with mine, i guess im no longer complaining about the higher price. I can vouche a true nvidia built FE model is better in quality and sometimes performance. Both my FE's in SLI is running a solid steady 2078mhz @ around 65c with no issues, and can reach over 2110mhz with very low temps. All this with a very aggressive fan profile.

I've never seen the 5180 up for sale. I'd say go with the FE.

I agree with Sajin go with the FE. Yea its more, but it will vent the heat out your case. I paid the premium for both my FE, but I'm happy with them. And no problems so far. First one I received June 10 and I've put it through some H, E double L and its still going strong.

Hows the performance? Are those nvidia boards or EVGA boards?

Both are EVGA Graphics Cards (08G-P4-5180-KR) the one that the OP is asking about and they run 2025-2088MHz 24 hours a day without a single issue.

Im fairly new to evga. Upon buying the 1080FE from Nvidia store (only site that had them in stock) at the beginning of June, I had no idea about the step up even existed. Luckly by the time I received the FE I stumbled upon the step up page and signed up. Orginal plan was to sell my FE and hold onto the ACX, but after testing, the ACX could not OC nowhere close to the FE. So I sold it and picked up my 2nd FE. I was in queue for almost 3 months :/
