Hey just wondering when the power slider will get fixed, im not sure if its an evga bios thing or an nvidia driver thing, but all cards seem to lock at 320 watts no matter what even if you increase the slider in the XC3 to 108% it still stops at 100% power limit,

evga do you know whats up?

also when will hydrocopper blocks be ready for XC3

Are you using the 30 series (only) Precision? https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-Precision-X1-110-for-30-Series-ONLY-m3082579.aspx

    Or MSI's Afterburner?

The XC3 ultra will go more then 320w ? or it will stay as it is on 320w ?

The power slider does nothing from what I can tell. The card will do 320w max with small blips above to 330w but always right back down.

Moving the power adjustment does not appear to increase this as reported by GPUZ. As it stands at 4K in Rainbow Six my card will power throttle my XC3 3080 to 1755-1770mhz. Just barely able to achieve rated boost. If I overclock at all it crashes. The card runs low voltage because the power limit is so low, so no overclocking at all.

Get the TUF card. Right now there is no reason to spend more than $699. You can spend that on the TUF and get the proper 375w vbios, a slightly better cooler and better overclocks/stable boost clocks.

I just received the XC3 3080 and I am having this same power limit issue. Power target set to 108%. Precision 1.1.0.2.  It will bounce up to 330w occasionally but seems to hover around 320w causing boost clocks to hover around 1800Mhz to 1900MMhz.  Increasing core clock does not change this at all.  My power supply is an EVGA 1000w.  I've tried using different cable configurations but no success.  Fan speed 100% temp never exceeds 57C.

Following, at least would be nice to see the card allowing as much power as the FE.

A workaround for this would be to use nvidia smi to set the power limit by using a batch file with the following command...

    @ECHO
    start cmd.exe /k "C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI\nvidia-smi.exe" -pl 380

Where 380 is put the power limit you want. You can't exceed whatever the max power limit of your card is, and if you do it will say there are errors when trying to apply a limit that is above your cards limit. You'll need to run the batch file as admin too when running the batch file.

Hate to say it but maybe this is just the way the card is designed. It is one of the smallest 3080s available right now. It’s quite possible this card was just designed for stock performance like the zotac card. Bare bones 3080 with a fancy cooler.

I hope this isn’t the case but might just be.

I need to edit my post above and update.  I wasn't taking into account he PCIE power draw which is about 60W monitored via GPUZ.  So I guess total would be around 380W under full load. Perfcap Reason in GPUZ shows full green while under load so I'm assuming it is capping out power usage and that it limiting performance.  Still strange that the power target slider has zero effect on clock speeds.  100% and 108% are the exact same.  The range of clock speeds I'm seeing in benchmarks and games is between 1780Mhz-1950Mhz.  Fans at 100% temps top out at 57C-58C.

There seems to be zero OC headroom on this card as increasing core clock shows no increase in clock speeds under load in game.  I can only increase core by +50, anything above that crashes any benchmark or game I throw at it.  There is also ZERO memory overclocking headroom.  I've tried +100 to +500 and they all crash almost instantly in any benchmark or game.  From the numerous reviews of the 3080s in the wild it would seem that the average memory OC should be around the +500 to +700 range.

I am also getting a strange desktop not responding and then a black screen for a few seconds at random times which only seems to happen with Precision open, even on default settings.  More testing and time needed for this one.

I haven't changed anything in my system over the last 3 months aside from installing this GPU.  Used DDU to install 456.38 driver and using Precision 1.1.0.2.  Not using any other monitoring software or any other background software like RGB controllers etc either.  Up to date windows 10.

Ouch, this is the second person to mention the black screen issue on the XC3.   Also the lack of OC headroom is concerning.

EDIT:  Can you check what your 8pin power connectors are like?  Could be because you are NOT using 2 x 8 pin connectors, but 1 x 8Pin + daisy chained 8pin. Use two separate rails for Ampere cards.

I am not using daisy chained connectors they are 2 x 8 pin separate.  The PSU is an EVGA 1000w.

I have an XC3 Black, and power limit increase had me using around 350 watts.

Used MSI Afterburner Beta that has support for the 3080 - stable at slight OC of + 60Mhz core and + 600 mem.

That's somewhat encouraging. At least it's getting more than the base 320w.

Has anything changed I have a evga xc3 Ultra and with the power limit maxed some times I get a spike to 350w but most of the time it lists power limited and is around 340w.

I also have this problem of whatever happens the power never crosses 320w (except briefly).
Is there an issue with my system or is it supposed to be like that?

From what I have seen run GPU-z and you will see one of the 3 power sources hit the limit that makes the card pull back to not go over. Look at the total pcie power, 8pin 1 and 8pin2. they look to supply different parts of the card and have no power balancing hardware to avoid this issue.

I don't think that's the reason :) If I'm power limited on the GPU core I would expect the power limit to not trigger if i'm at 320w for the reason you mention if i raise the power target to 108% TDP which is the maximum amount available. The GPU is certainly powered by the 8-pin connectors and the fact that it doesn't budge at all when the slider is moved seems like an issue to me. The slider is available and goes up to 108%. It just does absolutely nothing :)

Had this same issues on my RTX 2060 where the power slider would "slide" but actualy do nothing about redusing the wattage

found this that fixed my issues
