I don't know if you are trying to facetious or funny here, but why does it matter?  He's a soldier who wants a good PC.

In this logic, you should give discounts to policemen, firemen, and other professionals who put their lives on the line, not just on the front line.

But as a manufacturer, EVGA cannot do these discounts.  This would be through the retailer.

There is no policemen/fireman's discount because they make considerably more then military (though some companies may).  It is not a matter or level of commitment to putting one's life on the line, its about the bottom line. 
 
Your average joe straight out of basic makes 1399.50 a month, or $11.66 an hour by conventional 40 hour work weeks (which soldiers normally do not do, and there is no such thing as overtime.)  I found a particular police department at a university which pays their probationary police officer 21.17 an hour.
 
Companies outside military bases always used to offer military discounts to the joe's to bring them in.  It just spread from there...

Some don't give a discount unless you are in uniform, there is a reason some places are police hangouts. I also get some premium bank account, credit card and other things for it.

I started at $15 a hour, some places pay very well Scottsdale pays 60k starting but a sheriffs department a friend works at starts at $12 a hour. Military people aren't as broke as you make them out my brother inlaw is in the army he makes crap base pay but doesnt have to pay rent, has a food allowance, doesn't have to pay into retirement/healthcare etc... and can get crazy cheap loans and stuff.

You are absolutely correct.  I just always heard of it being called a "military discount", and  I am in the military so I know how broke joes can be.   
 
There are some benefits to living that life your bro-in-law does (the no rent, food, etc)  but that is barracks life.  If you live in the barracks, you are subject to many rules/constraints and constant surprise  inspections (if you have a good NCO).  Also you use the chow hall and its free.  Chow halls have come a long way in my time, but sometimes you just want to use the local economy to eat.  Most of your military pay is outright spending money.  They even give you a uniform allowance.  I guess if you are good with your money its a great way to save.  I know I didn't- I was a party animal when I was on active duty. 
 
I made about 800 dollars a month when I was a private on active duty over 13 years ago.  I make considerably more now as I rose through the ranks.  
 
But as nordic says back on topic.  Yea i guess I can see why EVGA doesn't compete with their customers.
