I'm using an overclocked Alienware AW3418DW 120hz monitor, it works (3440x1440 120hz) great when connecting it to 2 of the display ports but the third DP can't handle it i have to lower the refresh rate to 100 hz or lower the resolution to 2560x1440 for it to work!
Is this behavior normal or there is a problem with the card ?

    No problem here PG279Q oc'd to 165hz, just tested all 3 dp's and they all run @ 165hz. Same card, 2080ti FTW3

Thank you for testing, I wonder if the resolution matter, im testing on 3440x1440 which is the native for my monitor not 2560 ?

Stop overclocking the monitor, and run it at it's native refresh rate of 100 Hz.

Regardless of monitor overclocking i can upgrade my monitor at anytime to even get a native higher freq one and i want to know if the card is defected or not - its definitely not a monitor problem (because the other 2 DPs work)

It's possible something is wrong with that one port, or some kinda compatibility issue is going on. I own a 4k 120hz screen along with two 2080 ti xc gaming cards and all 6 of my dp ports work just fine with my monitor.

Been having problems with my DPs too (see https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2897695).
Pretty sure it wasn't happening until 3-4 days ago before reassembling my system...tried everything before figuring out it was the DP.

Have you found a solution? I bought a VESA certified cable, and I still have the same issue. It seems to happen only with some games and vsync on. If I switch to HDMI everything is fine.
