Hi,

I have an EVGA Supernova 850 Gold running an X670E build with a few M.2s, RTX 3080, and ram.

Was wondering which rails produce power to which ports on the back of the PSU?

Reason I ask I have a raid card that requires a 6 pin PCI-e connector and out of 6 pin connectors unless I daisy chain off of the GPU.

I don't want to do that so got a pci-e to SATA power adapter instead.

Does that still use the same 12v rail?

Thanks

    Hi dmoheban,

I can confirm that the SATA and the PCI-e use different rails, but I do not recommend using an adapter cable as I have never preferred any adapter cable when it can be avoided.

Can you please confirm which 850 Gold unit you do have?  I assume your graphics card has 3 PCI-e connectors on it so you may have another VGA port available.

We will wait to hear back to try and help further.  Please also keep in mind that we are available by email at Support@EVGA.com .

    Hi,

I have the 850-GA 0220-GA-0260-X1 model. The video card has only two pci-e ports but my motherboard has two as well. So that takes up the available four cables unless I daisy chain. The peripheral I need to power is a raid card so probably doesnt consume alot of amps and I read that the sata adapter has max 54 watt rating so I should be good. Thanks.

Is this your PSU? ->  https://cn.evga.com/Products/Specs/PSU.aspx?pn=2F6F8F6B-CAA9-4474-9E5A-DCBA19E07A22
If so, note the number of 8 pin (6+2) connectors.  The two you mention your motherboard has, are you talking about for the CPU? If so, there are 2 seperate EPS 8 pin (4+4) cables for that.

Yes thats my psu and I wasnt counting the two cpu pci-e connectors. My motherboard the Msi X670E Godlike has total 4 pcie connectors including cpu so with gpu thats like 6 connectors required. Thanks.

The way I'm understanding your setup is this...

You use two EPS 8 pin connectors for CPU. Supplied with PSU.
Two 8 pin connectors for the GPU.  Two 6 pin connectors on the board. So a total of 6 plugs total as it is now. Your PSU came with Six 8 pin (6+2) Pcie cables. That leaves you two 8 pin (6+2) cables left over.

Am I missing something here or are you missing a couple of the supplied cables?  According to your posts, you need 7 cables when including your Raid card which you should have 8 with your PSU.

PSU only has 4 physical gpu 8 pin ports on back of the psu and rather not daisy chain.

Please keep in mind that the VGA ports on the PSU can support up to 2 connectors per output and they are designed for this.

I personally would use the VGA PCI-e cables with 2 connectors over using an adapter, as you had mentioned prior, as the PSU is made to use the PCI-e cables in this manner. However, this is optional to you.
