I just install/added two new fans, one to the North Bridge Heat sink and one to the South Bridge on a 780i SLI board. I made no other adjustments to my Motherboard or components. After reassembly, I turn the system on to ensure that all fan were working. During POST there were one initial beep and then a long beep that ended with a POST code of FF and then shut off. I rebooted a second time and this time it made it as far as C1 POST code making about a 5-6 second long beep, POST stayed at C1 and 7-8 seconds later there was another extended long beep. I didn't wait to see if it was going to shut down again. I turn the system off. I rechecked all my power cables (disconnected the two new fan power cables), made sure that RAM was seated, removed and reseated CPU and cooler. I'm at a lose at what adding to new cooling fans could cause.

A C1 error is a memory error..Remove and reseat the RAM, not just push on it..If that don't do it, power down and unplug your rig, hit the power and reset buttons a few times to discharge the Mobo, push on the BIOS chip to be sure it's fully seated, remove the CMOS battery for 10 minutes (minimum), put the battery back in, plug in, power up..If you can get into BIOS, then do so and set date/time and make any custom changes necessary (esp. RAM frequency, timing and voltage).

Hey Bob. I did all of that. After your response, I removed all my RAM and reseated one stick. I powered up and it seems to go through the motions. Had to shut down because I forgot to plug my monitor in. I powered back up and this time it stopped at POST 24. It couldn't fin my hard drives and they were plugged in. It shut off. The next power up it was going through the codes and just shut off. So not sure where the error was that time. Now at start up it just stays at FF. No beeps no nothing. Going to remove the OS battery again and wait longer. Not sure how 5 hours after the last time I was on, it looks dead.
