LockedBought 1080 FTW refurb and have no receipt. Can the card be serviced without the warranty?

So I bought a 1080 FTW on Craigslist and assumed it would have the standard 3 year EVGA warranty on GPUs. Now I've realized it has an -RX suffix and I don't have a receipt for warranty on it. Will EVGA still service the card and bill me for parts and labour, or do I have a new GPU coaster? I'm still happy with my 670 coaster so I hope it can be fixed.

    If the card is repairable evga may be able to fix it for a fee. If the card is still under warranty the card can be rma'd using the guest rma process... https://www.evga.com/support/guestregister.asp
     
    Note: The guest rma process will tell you if the card is under warranty or not, so click on the link and type in the cards serial number to see if the card has any warranty remaining on it.
     
    What exactly is wrong with the card?

    Thanks. I tried, but the guest RMA process said I have to call EVGA directly for warranty with this product. I assume because its a refurbished product and their warranty terms page says products ending in -RX have limited 1 year non-transferable warranties. 
     
    My system won't power on when the card is installed, but works fine with other GPUs. Like, fans don't turn on, no power cycle, no POST, nothing. I have a Gigabyte 980 in right now that's working perfectly as I type this, but with the 1080 its as if I didn't even plug the PSU into the wall. I assume its a VRM issue as I've read the FTW was notoriously bad for VRM issues, hence the 1080 FTW2.

    No, I thought they were closed on weekends.

    There is your answer. Too bad the motherboard doesn't get any power when the video card is installed. If the motherboard was able to get power while the card was installed you might have been able to fix it by baking the card in the oven.

    That bites?? The guy sold you a dead card? Didn't see it working before you paid for it?

    Id remove the cooler and look over that card to see if there's anything obvious that looks wrong or damaged.

    People will still pay for a parts card though.. not that it's much. :/

    It worked for almost 2 months before it failed.

    Thank you for contacting EVGA, Unfortunately, EVGA doesn't have a repair center for out of warranty product. Also, the product number that is ending with an RX will only have a 1-year warranty for the original owner of the product. I apologize for the inconvenience, and our customer service is 24/7 



    Thanks for the definitive answer, even though its not what I wanted to hear. Guess I've got an expensive coaster now.
